After watching this I just spent five days on Koh Chang. Stayed in the Secret Garden resort, and had sundowners at the Rasta View bar as well visiting one of the best bars in Thailand Indie Beach. Was fortunate to be there last night when the live band was on and it was epic. Fortunately I live in Hua Hin so could make the trip fairly easy. I’d never been to Koh Chang before and even though it rained for a couple of days still had a great time. I wasn’t prepared for the steep inclines to and from the Secret Garden but at least I could walk on the beach to and from Indie Beach bar who also do great food. I had lunch at I Do I Do yesterday and that was great as well. Keep up the tremendous vlogs 👍🏻
Indie beach, live music, fantastic! Glad you enjoyed. STL
hi once again from yyc..another incredible video, beautiful scenery and I love all the accomodations you,ve visited! Much appreciated if I was ever to visit(and sometime in the future perhaps). Time will tell!! Your living the life, good on you for chice, some of us are hesitant to relociate. Alas I!m in mouring, Flames no longer now its Oilors and I"m not a fan. Enjoy paradise !
Love all your videos and this was a gem. I wasn't going to retire unitl 65. (I'm 54) I may bring it forward 10 years. I've found my Thai island destination, and the Rasta Bar sold space cakes. Nuff said!
Great video me and my wife are going there middle of October for a week should be fun thanks for always stopping by I sure do appreciate it stay safe
@GottoLoveThailand Enjoyed your vid from the East side of Koh Chang, resort looked really nice. Also enjoy the good natured banter on your channel and good bunch of guys on the panel. Anyone looking in, for reg live updates from Thailand, just click on GottoLoveThailand channel name, or search same. Cheers, STL
Always a treat to watch STL.... You make my Fridays..... Hope you are well :-)))
Oh yeeeaah! New episode 👍🏻🇧🇻
I have a pretty good feeling, that I will be spending a good portion of this winter, in or around the Ginger Home restaurant and bar. Thank you, good sir, for the introduction! 🙏🎸🇯🇲🏝️😎
That little bridge crossing that cut about 200m off getting to that sweet little beach used to be a Super sketch footpath about .75 meter wide. We used to drive motos across it but it was about as sturdy as some of those rickety boardwalk ways at the pier. Nice to see someone improved it! That's also my favorite little chill beach.
Great memories Ron, thanks for sharing. STL
Wow what a great video. Love the wandering style. That is how you find the gems. Thanks so much for sharing
Thanks Sandra, I do love to wander :) STL
@@SideTripLife yes that's what hubby and I do too. Thailand and Vietnam in about 10 weeks time. I should shout you a beer when we are in Bangkok
think you can safely say, you never bore us STL....love the fact that you put up all the prices of rooms/food etc...makes a big difference for those of us wanting to come out and understanding current prices...there is a lot of " cost of living " vids from 3,4,5+ years ago which is pretty redundant....but one thing...how the hell can you drink sambuca neat ? agggghhhhhhhhh !!!
Cheers Nic. Something about a buca rocks that just seems to be the perfect chill n enjoy bevvy. Btw, will be returning to Koh Chang to update 2023 prices upcoming. STL
@@SideTripLife That's great thanks, my plan for what its worth is to go to Koh Tao and get my divemaster( prob end of this year) then come back 6 months later to do instructor( if i like the divemaster course) and then see if that qualification can take me to other places in asia for a few months of the year and then do Uk other 6 months...thats the plan anyways !!!! keep up the cracking work
Fantastic plan Nic, on-on!!
Definitely going to go there next time I’m in Thailand, looks amazing and the accommodation you’re looking at is just up my street - perfect 🤩
I like your videos about Thailand. I lived in Vancouver for 7 years! Part time in Kitsilano. I was also a deckhand on a salmon trawler for 3 years, off Tofino and Ucluelet. I am originally from France but I got Canadian citizenship. Now living in a tropical island looking a bit like Thailand! I add on your chanel !
Bienvenue! Great backstory! You really got a good look at BC, from lovely Kits beach to a trawler up Island, wow! Thanks for watching my vids, cheers! STL
Just spending 2 weeks on koh chang ...your videos big help ..really enjoying pens bungalow and klong kloi
Great to hear, enjoy!
Thanks, Matey! Rasta Ahoy!
After following a few other Thailand YTers, I stumbled across your channel and never left. Your low-key approach is just perfect. Occasionally, you get into technical aspects, whether computer equipment or making reservations or finding something, and I like that even more. I hesitate to say anything because your videos seem just right, so I’ll just say feel free to give us the technical and logistical side of things every so often. Thanks!
Wonderful...real gems to find
Great videos!
I am so dreaming of being there! Hopefully someday!
Hi sidetriplife been koh chang many times never made it past bang bao going back in 2 weeks will definitely check this area out cheers cobber.
It wouldnt matter which one , just get me out of Australia.
Need a 4 month stay on a beach, then a 4 month holiday to get over the holiday. Ps enjoy the sambucca !
awesome stuff.
Klong Kloi used to be called palm beach but they chopped down all the palms.
Top video....
Told you that beach was your speed. Enjoy.
Made it to the end.
Loved it! Thanks :) STL
SOLAR Requires MINING ....
STL, I'm sure you have a pirate heritage.
arrr arrr arrr
OK young man. Who's that hot chic you've been traveling with whom you've been hiding from us? Reveal !
Yhaa mom , cold beer and sandy beach my rasta wish coming true ! LOL going to Koh Chang in November thank you for super Vids so helpful ! Enjoy mon !!
Another great Vlog I was not expecting the view of the lake that was stunning. I like the many Rasta bars very cool and I like to smoke . I haven’t seen any in Vietnam but we are definitely 20 or 30 years behind Thailand when it comes to tourism. Thanks for the uploads.
Yes! That lake view was absolutely gorgeous. I'd totally prefer that over sea view.
@@Goeker agree on the lake view!
We love this cool vibes, simple bungalows on the beach, nothing posh.
Cant wait for your new videos! You give me alot of motivation to go to work so i can afford going this winter lol
Also, i would highly recommend going around the island to the east side, the roads and views are amazing there on Koh Chang
Amazing video my friend beautiful place excellent footage fantastic job Big Big Like 😊👍👍👍🇮🇹🌴
Thanks for the video 🙂👍 that is my favourite island in Thailand. I think that Koh Chang is still island where local People go for weekends and longer holidays
Oh my goodness! I do love the way you find these beautiful and inexpensive places to stay, holidays are too short to even touch the surface 😅. Liked the free sunbed observation 😉.
🤯🤯🤯😎🥰🤩👌👌
No words 😶
Expect W O W !!!! Just wow !!!🇯🇲 🇹🇭
Just had a great dinner at Suchada Villa Restaurant!!
Thank you for recommending.
Great video as always , I would stay where you was . Always watch to the end . Never to long . You do a great job and makes me want save even more to get there again . Can’t wait for next video #1 utuber STL in my eyes
What a great video again. I'm literally addicted to your channel. I don't know if i should wish that you would stay at Koh Chang forever so that these wonderful videos never end or that someday i can move there myself and never turn back. Totally paradise...
Totally agree 💯 🙌
Not for nothing STL, but great music bed for this! 🙌🏻 You turned me on to this Lars dude.
Klong Kloi would be my choice. I love the individual huts on the beachfront. Those big apartment blocks just don't have the same appeal for me. Gorgeous beach and so much to explore 🙂
Agree!
Very chill! I know Koh Chang fairly well or i thought i did lol, the Thai for cat is meow, that's so cute
Coming to Koh Chang in three weeks, thanks for filming Klong Kloi, def worth checking out!
Another great Vlog as usual. May head over to the islands from PP when we get back.
Bet you were in heaven during this one, all your style, like Samui 25 years ago, all looks good, tough place to leave 😁
STL. You have jumped right up into the stratosphere with this vid!!! Right up there with your best ever! Of course the backdrop helps. But it still takes a master to put it all together fluidly! Well done! Of course the long held question that even you yourself ask yourself is (Sounding very Austen Powers), "Why are you living in Bangkok???!!!" ... You are obviously a "Rasta beachside Hut Simplicity" guy. Not a big city corporate guy. We can only assume you have some kind of Monday to Friday job in Bangkok. Hence the long weekend only forays into more scenic locations. Maybe your RUclips fans can Hazzard a guess to what that Job is? ... Spiderman? Having to maintain the facade of having a job? ... A TEFL English teacher? ... The plot thickens ...
LOL. No intnl man o' mystery here, I'm based in Bangkok as my prev biz was based here. I sold prior to 'rona and now working on a new one. I'd LOVE to move to the beach but I also love the convenience and buzz of being in Bangkok. It's a perfect base to easily get away by road, rail or flight to anywhere. STL
another good video......been to the Rasta bar last time I was in Koh Chang....nice vibe
I would stay anywhere you showed..such a nice island vibe...howaa
Loving the vids and the journey buddy, ideally this is what I want to be doing and vloogging when the time comes, great work.
You are absolutely right, that area is definitely worth a visit. Perhaps on my wander through Thailand this coming winter I will check it out, however I gather from your comments that it would be a hard place to leave. "Aw shucks... I'm stuck in paradise", would be my first thoughts and my second would be "where's that Rasta bar?''.
Thx Leonard. Klong Kloi deffo stronger gravity than most places ;) STL
ps followed you from the early days and know we have similar musical tastes
another great vid, loved the beaches and the bars, so cool :)
I love the map thing you do maybe zoom in from a bigger scale to write down where you are
we stopped for a drink on that beach. Stunning location 👌
I make it to the end of most of your videos. I understand that some folks think your videos are too long, but I binge watch several in a row, so it works for me. Thank you for providing the volume of helpful info on the places you visit.
Cheers Dan, much appreciated! STL
Yeah I need to stop watching your videos. So many choices so little time. I'm planning on going now in the month of February 2024. I'm thinking Bangkok for a couple days then head to Hua Hin for a couple days. After that PKK. Then to Phuket. Then fly from Phuket back to Bangkok. So now I have to fit this island in. I was going to head up to chiangmai but I don't think I would want to live there anyway so I could always do that later when I move to Thailand.
My biggest problem is getting a dog sitter for the month of February somewhere in the Los Angeles area.. but I think I have found somebody.
I'm looking to get that I want to move here vibe. So I want a varied experience. My passport expires in March of 2024 so I need to get that renewed before I go. Haven't made any reservations are airline tickets yet but thinking about doing it in the next couple of days.
Thanks you're costing me money.... But I expect that it will be money well spent.
Good plan, come kick the tires first. YT'rs like me can make it look wonderful but day to day living is different than a 15min hi-light vid (of course). Happy upcoming travels and do update us on how you get on. Cheers, STL
“I’m astonished anyone watches these things.” 🤣😂 Well, you are entertaining and have fun and informative commentary - not to mention the appropriate enthusiasm for your incredible surroundings! 😎 Appreciate you sharing all that you do! Including singing a Will Nelson song instead of Bob Marley. It still worked. Haha ☺️ And cheers. Keep holding the fort down there in Thailand until I can get back! 😋😉
I'm hoping that you made it over to the quiet side of the island in your upcoming vids and that you got over to see Long Beach!
love your vlogs ... happy about they are now not that short anymore
Another great video. Please keep up the great work.
Totally subscribed to his TikTok - the video was NOT boring and yeah that beach is about to get a lot more popular!
great vlog looks like you were in your element/good space
I have been doing serious development on my M1 Air for a year now, and it's fantastic. The only real reason for upgrading to the M2 Air would be the slight increase in screen brightness (400 nits -> 500 nits, which could be very handy for travel-working), and the option to get 24GB RAM instead of the M1's 16GB limit. Indeed the shape has changed; M2 is no longer a wedge. And yes, it does have a notch... but most people say they stop even noticing the notch after a few hours the first time they use it.
Agreed and for my maximum use (4K vid editing) the base 8MB on my now 'classic' M1 Wedgee is more than enough and again twice as fast as my older 15" Macbook Pro. So no need for the M2 and no upgrade until a lite/air 15" enters the mix (possibly next Sept).
If you didn't get your hard drive working, let me know. Especially on spinning disks of reasonably large size, sometimes the Mac is busy doing a filesystem check but not providing any feedback to you. There's a very easy alternate way of checking/repairing (without downloading any software), and it may solve your problem.
Thx kindly Zed Nine, sorted now. Cheers, STL
Enjoying your videos! Thanks 🙏🏼
I have been to Koh Chang some times, but never went after Lonley Beach. Because of your video, I will do next time 🤗
Thanks Roland. STL
Answering your question I would rather stay at Klong Kloi. I like the peace there and the laid back area. Very nice. Great video. Thanks for all of the info for this area!
Sambucca drink of the gods 😂
You’ve transported me to yet another fantastic tropical island paradise! As always, superbly done in every aspect… the ‘exploration’ angle of each of your gem videos is addictive!
Many thanks!
Great Vid! Always love these hidden gems
Wow,thats is special, all those gems close by each other. You never wan a leave any more.😇
You can not overstate that island! Wow!
Always make it to the end with your video's. You convinced me to go back and explore Koh Chang in october (if the weather let's me). I've been to Koh Chang once before but stayed on white sand beach.
Hard to believe that was a 26 minute video. Seemed to end just as it was starting.
Possibly your best one yet
P.S. your Jamacan accent is awful 😏
Thanks Tim! PS: ya mon, de time she fly mon... lol STL
Really enjoyed this one loved the Rasta bar with the view. Your surprised anyone watches these videos meanwhile I'm sitting here like what's taking him so long to upload. Lol. Love the content and appreciate you taking us along for the journey while also providing great Intel along the way.
We prefer the Klong Kloi Beach and the Rasta Bars of course. Koh Chang look like a really nice Place to stay. it is on our List :-)
Id stay by the beach, great video very chilled
Watched to the end, hoping for a view of long beach on the other side, ko chang looking great again 👍 is Thor's Palace open on white sands? His clifftop cocktail bar was amazing too.
Thanks mate……still catching up
Really like your way of showing different places, very nice channel. Good luck to you! I have been to Thailand only once, but dreaming of coming back.
Thank you MrStorway, good luck to you also, may your dreams come true :) STL
I think I'd go for the hill. (spoiled for luxury) 😁
And of course I made it to the end 😊
@rolandet :) STL
Hiya. Great video as always. Envious of your travels. Always so informative. Great places to stay. And go. Bars and Beaches. Your chicken curry looked good. Beautiful views. You are great for always sharing the info. Maya's guesthouse looks lovely. Chilled vibes as always. So many lovely places. Rasta bar. Love it. Love your vibes. Thank you for sharing. Have a lovely weekend.
Til the end with Chan Siam and Ginger!
Yeah, I'm a lot like you, I prefer the Cheapest Spots close to the best Island Style Bars and Coconut hut Restaurants. Yeah, that's why I really like your Channel is because I like your Style. 😁
LOL I live right there on the water.
I'm jealous! Nice one Jonathan :) STL
Great video, I appreciate the prices and names. We will be there in February. 4th time to Thailand
Thanks Scotty!
Wow, what a beach…….life in paradise doesn’t get much better!
You made me book the same place you stayed. Thanks for the great information.
Loved it there! Enjoy Mark! STL
Fantastic, keep it up.. 👌👌👌
I’ve done a few videos there myself but surprised you walked past Klong Kloi Cottages just before the massage lady will be back there again end July, great video though 😎
Amazingly informative and entertaining video as always!
Loved the vid and very informative
Love the videos brother!! My favorite Thailand RUclipsr :) USA National Parks: 80$ for everyone.(Annual Pass) Military, seniors and school students get discounts but international travelers should not have to pay more. Did you have to pay a premium in the past?
Thanks Joseph. Fav? Wow!
Regarding oft whinging expats over 'dual pricing' in Thailand, I just had to comment. For majority of Thai's the avg wage is still around $10 a day. So, if my paltry subsidy allows even one Thai kid to access their own Parks at lower prices, GREAT!
Regarding the US 'dual pricing' (+Europe as well) Expat whingers never bring up this reality from 'back home'. In many State Parks, from Idaho to Rhode Island, out of state visitors pay more, QUOTE:
---------
IDAHO, USA - Idaho State Parks will double the price for out-of-state campers and visitors starting June 10. The new price for non-residents to enter the parks jumps to $14. For out of state campers, a basic campsite at those parks will cost $48 a night.
Rhode Island - Camping at a state park in Rhode Island costs significantly more for out-of-state visitors than for residents. Non-residents can anticipate paying at least double the resident rate.
------------
Meanwhile, imagine choosing to stay at home or whinging over paying $4 or so more to access a Thai Park (??) Personally love Thai parks and again if my paltry subsidy allows even one Thai kid access to their OWN parks, wonderful! Cheers, STL
@@SideTripLife Oh yes, they bang out of staters :) Much worse if you want to go to school out of state. Yes, I never found it a problem for dual pricing in Thailand. Its usually a tiny amount. Where to next?
Hello fellow 🇨🇦 I was looking at your series about Koh Chang...love your edits and style of videos. I was wondering if they have Songthaews going all the way south of the island? We're looking to leave Bangkok for a few days in Mid-December for Koh Chang. Thank you ☺️
Bonjour Alain, yes, there are public Songthaews going all the way South, in fact right to Klong Kloi. They were charging around 200 baht from ferry last time (shared ride) but now not sure prices in high season (gives me yet another reason to re-visit soon;) Please update here if you get there first. Cheers, STL
@@SideTripLife Awesome thank you so much. We booked 18-23rd of December... It will be my first time in Koh Chang. Will definitely revisit a few of your jam you highlighted in your videos.
You mention this being a poor island to learn to ride the moto on, so which island might be best for someone's first real attempt at scooting around like this?
Koh Chang and Koh Phangan in particular are very hilly, with steep windy roads. There's regular 'go fund me' pleas from riders who become hospitalised. Many are first time riders and were not even wearing helmets. Would recommend to take lessons on a scooter back home first, or borrow a friend's and go to an empty supermarket parking lot to learn. Last, many insurance policies are invalid if driver has no valid Intnl or Thai M/C licence. If ignoring the above would at a minimum wear a helmet and drive very, very carefully. STL
GREAT STUFF KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Too much fun 👌 - Thanks again for doing the hard yards for us 😎 - so good 🍻👊👍🙏
Thx Ant. But honestly, with or without a camera this is how I usually roll, so my pleasure to bring a few along with me. Cheers, STL
Great video thanks
YEAAAH !! New Video =)
When we first visited Thailand it was Koh Samui we went to. Lamai. Loved it so much we've been back every year since excepting the Covid years. It's beautiful there and we love it but maybe we're guilty of being in a comfort zone because you have truly opened our eyes to so many gems. Krabi, Railay, Koh Chang is stunning and some of your best work but for me Khanom was my favourite. And relatively 'undiscovered' so to speak. Loved your Khanom vlogs. But anyway. Samui again in 6 weeks I'm practically agog at the thoughts of being back.
R B thanks as always! Enjoy your trip to Samui and no need to feel guilty being comfortable in paradise (this is what vacay's are for;) But if you get a chance deffo check out Khanom. I may head back there soon myself. Btw, any looking in who missed that series here's an intro: ruclips.net/video/bwVt5uFEyRM/видео.html
Fantastic work!
