Not only do I love your work, but I adore your explanations and narrative. You are a wonderful teacher, artist and inspiration! Thank you for all you do!!!
Hello Caterina, I just love this little fabric book, it's enchanting. I have made paper journals for a few years and I am embarking on new projects to keep my brain active. I'm 72 in May and I just love being creative and watching creative people. Thank you so much for sharing. Love Lita UK. xx
Thank you for an inspiring mini book. It encourages me to get in my studio and get to creating instead of thinking of every thing going on around me. Love your channel.
Sharon Hoerth Organic!! That’s the word I was looking for!! It’s so rough on video.. words fail me sometimes .... thank you dearheart! Always lovely to hear from you! 😘♥️
I so enjoy watching you work, explaining your choices, picking through the bits of ephemera! My family and most friends don’t understand my love of little bits and baubles. I’ve grown accustomed to hearing “what do you want that for”. I especially loved when you fawned over the coffee ring on the envelope! I always buy old tea towels and antique linens that have some beautiful handwork, I feel as if I must rescue them. It makes me sad that they end up in bins at antique shops or second hand stores when so much love went into them. I do display mine but have some that are worn and have tears, holes or stains but I couldn’t bear to part with them. Now I know exactly how to you them! Thanks again for another wonderful video.
Diva Kreszl I am so sorry that you comment languished here.. my notifications must not be working properly. I just bought mor antique linens this morning and I completely understand thank you so much for your sweet comment my friend! 😘♥️♥️

Hello Caterina, thank you for sharing your sweet handmade booklets. I make junk journals and sometimes want to veer off that path for a bit and make ephemera and other items that are less time consuming. Your little booklets are the perfect project for me! Thank you so much for this video. I'm usually behind in watching as I pick up on a project and then work it for a while. When I want to try something different, I look to you for inspiration. I've been wanting to mix more paper and fabric and this is absolutely perfect to get me started! Your style is so gorgeous- heartwarming, ethereal and genuine and i just love it! Thank you, thank you -Monica 💘
JoAnn Garner Thank you, JoAnn! I am so happy to hear that it resonates with you! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to let me know! 😘♥️
Cat, I LOVE your “inch-ish” measuring method as well as loose threads! It makes the object touchable and loveable making the item a treasure! It also gives us permission to not achieve total perfection. So many book art pieces I see are so precise and sterile, but your work has heart. Just saying. Lol. Today is Watch Cat Day! I was stuck on a project and felt inspired watching you. Take care. 😊❤️
Buongiorno Caterina!🌷 Whenever you say you're going to make a little book I hyperventilate in anticipation!😃 I love how tiny books create a special place for texture, layers, movement......and personal stories. Off to start plotting...Stay safe Cara 💙🙏💙
Isabell 27 Ah buongiorno, Cara Mia! I will keep that in mind, so happy you liked the little book! Can’t wait to see your creation! Be well my friend! 😍💙💙💙
Bella! This viewing was so bittersweet for me. The fabric book is so perfect and I so wish I could be watching this with my grandaughter and then making our own books. She will LOVE this project. But we can't see each other because of ..well...you know. And then all thr ephemera from Italy makes me think of my dear friends in Calabria and how Itaky feels so far away right now. Cat...I can tell you how much I look forward to making these tiny books with my grandaughter AV... (after virus!)
Wendy Wendy Hi dearheart... I had trouble keeping my tears from flowing at my “ciao for now” segment and stumbled on my words. I am so happy that you enjoyed it and think your granddaughter will love it too. Italy will never be the same, so many things will change, but our love of it will always remain.😘♥️💐
Such cute little books! I’m sorry to hear you had to cancel your travel plans, but I’m glad you’re well and staying safe! Hopefully this will be over soon! Thank you for sharing! 💜
I have a hand carved bowl that is crying out to be filled with these. I have some linen and clothing pieces, cards, letters, etc from family members who have passed, I think this would be a great way to preserve these and add a photo and imagery that captures my memories of them. Thank you for the amazing inspiration. I am off to start gathering...
Sandy Babb Oh my friend! My goal is always to offer a bit of inspiration... and you make me teary eyed to know you would think of a vessel to fill with these little books! Thank you so much and thank you for watching, my friend! 😘♥️
Dear Cat This is just the sweetest little darling book! Thanks so much for inspiring us as you do! So many comments you know you are loved! I have to go make one asap! xoxox

So yummy ! So beautiful ♥️ a gorgeous little book bringing life back to bits of discarded letters, materials, scraps, etc ♥️I've just bought a vintage cloth from a well known auction site especially to do this project. ♥️ keep safe and well 😍

Donna Morgan Thank you Donna! Yes, they represent release to me.. and allowance.. thanks so much for watching and letting me know you enjoyed it! That means so much to me! 😘
This really inspired me thank you xxx I thought attaching the fabric pages to tissue paper was genius! I have managed to make my own little book - I've just moved to the countryside so I am going to put birds and flowers in it. I used hand dyed silk for the pages, which are great once stiffened. Thank you again and all best wishes from UK xxx
Carole Norman Oh how beautiful... hand dyed silk.. I think that is marvelous! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment on the video we so appreciate it! Sending back xxx’s
Chris Gray Hi dear Chris! They are so fun and easy to make! I love making them! Yes, we all have a lot of time on our hands right now. A perfect time to create. Be well! I am still planning on traveling to your part of the world and would love to meet you one day! 😘♥️
I have been a journal artist for about a year- and still learning more and more every day. Love the idea of the tissue paper between the fabric layers- I imagine the texture is wonderful!!
Brandy Thompson Hi Brandy! I have been creating visual art journals for many years and I am STILL learning! BTW, the tissue is not sandwiched it is merely glued to one side, giving a much needed weight and allowing for a sturdy collage substrate. Thanks for your comments! 😘
@@CaterinaGiglio - I am so thankful you reached out to tell me more about yourself and to give the tip about the tissue paper!!! I did share your video in a couple groups I admin and I know there was a lot of interest in making these little booklets!! We all love capturing that moment, that feeling-- so with your video as a guide- and your tip (which somehow I guess I misunderstood-lol) I am hoping we will see a couple come through the posting- giving you credit, of course!! Thanks again!! Looking forward to more videos!! Loving the 1st in the newest series, too!!
Brandy Thompson Thank you ever so much for sharing our videos... we so appreciate it. That really helps our channel 😉 so glad you enjoy it! Have fun creating! I look forward to hearing from you! 😘
Just lovely little book. TFS .It's been a while since I was concentrated just on my dayli job...but now i have time to craft .. I'm isolated at homes and I'll try to keep busy myself. Hugs and kisses. Stay safe.
Christine Boone Hi Christine! Yay! I am very happy to hear it! Enjoy each minute and thanks for watching and taking the time to let me know you liked it! 😘
Thank You...it is a day I needed some fun inspiration. I really love the good vibes I get watching your beautiful creating. Iowa has had no Sun for a Long stretch, it's gloomy/damp/foggy and when you mentioned flowers and gardening I'm like OH how special. Maybe Monday a turn around fingers crossed. Stay safe 💖💖
Sylvia Hildman 🤞For you, dearheart! I am so glad you enjoyed it.. we always hope to offer a bit of inspiration! Thank you so much! Be well, dearheart! 😘💖💖
Thank you for another wonderful video Cat- I don't have fabric but I do have a lot of different papers including some eco-dyed papers so may just have to try one. Thank you for your sharing. xo Terry
Terry Garrett Hi dearheart! Wait!!! No fabric? No old sheets? Old shirts 👕 nothing? Oh my heavens! I must send you an artist care package then!! Glad you liked it my sweet friend! 😘♥️
Eva Oxberry Eva, it is just a piece of tissue paper glued to a piece of fabric.. it strengthened the fabric just enough to give it some weight so it turns better! You will love it! 😘
Hi! Just found your channel and subbed. Love your style and ideas are just what I needed for a direction. Have gotten side tracked from a mono printing, painting, traveling beginner artist, to a lost commercial crafter. Geez. Have been so unsatisfied and have been searching for myself again. I collect vintage items, love them and now I know what to do with them. They are for me to enjoy to create with them in a way I can look at them and love. Love these little books you’ve created. A great way to start using up some of my vintage stash. Thank you for sharing. Oh and is the paper you have sandwiched in the cover called cotti paper? I’m not familiar with that name. Vicki
TRYHEART67 Hi Vicki, the paper is Khadi and we have a link on my YT page.. I use it all the time. Thank you for subbing, watching and taking the time to let me know you enjoyed it! Have fun making tiny books!
Caterina Giglio 💕oh great! Thank you so much Cat! I looked there, but I guess I didn’t see it as Khati, lol. On a mission now to organize my vintage! You are so inspiring! 💕💕💕
They are wonderful! Please correct me if I'm wrong but do you mean Broadcloth? Growing up with sewing in the family in a big way, I just thought of broadcloth. I could be wrong. If so. Then I learnt something new!🙂💞 As always, I get so much from your tutorials!
I know this is an older video and you may not see my comment. This itty bitty book made my heart go pitterpat. There is one thing I am trying to wrap my mind around. From your directions if I glue the fabric to the tissue paper and then fold it in half I take it that one side of each page is the tissue paper? Thank you for creating such beauty and sharing it! 💕
@@CaterinaGiglio wow thanks for such a quick reply! I know I could do that, I was just trying to figure out what you did because I couldn't tell since everything was white. Thanks so much! :)
lorraine durgee Hi Lorraine! Thank you so much! Yes, there are two pieces of cloth/ tissue paper, per signature total of 24 pages . So happy to hear from you! Thank you! 😘
lorraine durgee Lorraine I cut 6 pieces of cloth and glued them to tissue paper. Then I let them dry and cut them out. I then folded them in half to fit my book. When I folded them they form 4 pages. I stitched them together and each one forms a signature. Since I made three of them there are a total of 24 pages.
This was amazing! I love all your videos but this one really made me smile. I have always loved bark cloth but never used the back side lol I will now . Please stay safe.
Oooohhh, my friend, your little creation touched my heart! ❤️ Another project to add to my long list 😊 BTW, what is the name of your lovely opening music; it's so dreamy...relaxing. (It too is yummy!) Stay safe Stay well. Much 💕 love. 🌿🌸🍃
Janice Robinson Hi Janice, I am so happy you enjoyed it! Our theme music is a stock music piece.. we have used it for 3 years now and I still love it! Be well dear friend! Hugs and smoochie kisses! 🌸🍃💐💖
I just love this tiny little book, so l made two at one time, l have a question what do you use to clean your paint brushes, so they don't dry hard. Thank you 😊 stay safe
@@CaterinaGiglio oh thank you so much, because lots of brushes that are dry and hard, I am now starting the little tree book 📖 😄 you are great teacher and I just L.O.V.E all your videos, l wish l was able to afford the other papers 📃 you use, but l brought a lot of Mixed media paper, but one day I hope l be able to buy some, so far they are working well. Thank you again 💓
Christal Scott Hi Chrystal, mixed media paper is great to use.. and will work for most things.. I also use cheap chipboard brushes for glue brushes.. fine bristles will stick together much faster. I use them in my videos and they will croak eventually 😉
Cotty paper? Where do you get it? Update: I see it on the list, spelled Khadi. What kind of tissue paper-- like the kind you buy for gifts? Thanks so much.
@@GrungeGranny PVA is traditionally used for book arts. I use Golden Gel Matte Medium, because I am a professional artist and am accustomed to using professional product. When using an adhesive to glue collage, the image should be covered and edges glued down too.. this keeps the image from lifting.. if you are creating personal work then you would not need to use a professional quality adhesive.
@@JUPANDY it is similar to watercolor paper, but has a higher rag content.. so it is easy to stitch and not as hard as watercolor paper.. it bends easily unlike watercolor paper.

gorgous!!! happy to met you
from Italy
Ciao Ofelia! Glad to meet you! Thank you for watching! 😘
What great idea using tissue paper in between the fabrics x
Eva Oxberry Eva, it is just a piece of tissue paper glued to a piece of fabric.. it strengthened the fabric just enough to give it some weight so it turns better! You will love it! 😘
Caterina Giglio it’s the simple ideas that get me excited . I’ve been making a few little books this week, I’ll put them up in the FB group page. 🥰
Eva Oxberry I feel the same way, Eva! It’s always the tiny things! 💗
I'm watching this again...did you put tissue paper on both sides of the fabric pages... I can't tell from the video. I love this book. Thank you.
Jean Elliott Hi Jean.. just on one side. Sorry if it wasn’t clear, thanks for watching!
Caterina Giglio thank you,
Thank you so much!! Something beautiful to try while staying at home. Stay well♥️
Janet Reid Hi dear Janet! Bet you will make something gorgeous! Be well! 💖
Hi Gail, well you can glue tissue to both sides if you want..☺️
@@CaterinaGiglio wow thanks for such a quick reply! I know I could do that, I was just trying to figure out what you did because I couldn't tell since everything was white. Thanks so much! :)
Great little decorative, stylist books, I think with 6 pages in each book, right?after their tissue glued...love your channel, thank you.....
lorraine durgee Hi Lorraine! Thank you so much! Yes, there are two pieces of cloth/ tissue paper, per signature total of 24 pages . So happy to hear from you! Thank you! 😘
So there are 24 pages for each
Booklet including the tissue paper?
lorraine durgee Lorraine I cut 6 pieces of cloth and glued them to tissue paper. Then I let them dry and cut them out. I then folded them in half to fit my book. When I folded them they form 4 pages. I stitched them together and each one forms a signature. Since I made three of them there are a total of 24 pages.
Caterina Giglio thank you so much-it will be the first time making these....can’t wait..
lorraine durgee you can’t get it wrong.. if it doesn’t work.. you will learn! Have fun and do not be attached to the outcome 😘
This was amazing! I love all your videos but this one really made me smile. I have always loved bark cloth but never used the back side lol I will now . Please stay safe.
Lunar Design Studio Linda Hi Linda! Thank you so very much! LOL check out the back! So subtle! 😘♥️
So beautiful 🌹
Eva Oxberry Thank you, dear Eva! 😘
very nice. Thank you!!
L Mornes Thanks for watching! I so appreciate it! 😘
I luhv it!
Mary Jane 1738 Thank you! And thanks for watching and letting me know you liked it! 😘
Catering also like the little books. How do you spell the Cotte paper? And where can I get it? Thank you.
Delete this channel The paper is Khadi and in my comment section there is an Amazon link. Thank you for watching!
Caterina Giglio you’re so cute! 🌿🌸🍃
I just love this tiny little book, so l made two at one time, l have a question what do you use to clean your paint brushes, so they don't dry hard. Thank you 😊 stay safe
Christal Scott Hi Chrystal.. as I am using them I put them in water to keep them moist and I use Dawn dish soap to wash them out. Thank you! 😘
@@CaterinaGiglio Thank you 😊
Cotty paper? Where do you get it? Update: I see it on the list, spelled Khadi. What kind of tissue paper-- like the kind you buy for gifts? Thanks so much.
It is Khadi paper and here is the link.. amzn.to/3wm1FXi
Love this little book, gonna make one, thanks Aug2020
lorraine durgee Yay! So happy to hear it! It’s always so nice to hear from you 😘
Love your channel! What is Cottie paper? And what is bark cloth? All new to me!
Khadi paper is paper with a high rag content.. and bark cloth is a vintage fabric used mostly in the 40’s and 50’s… thanks for watching!
Do you have 1 layer of lave tea towel then the tissue or a layer of tissue between two layers of tea towel
Carol Bogden Hi Carol, it is just one layer of tissue glued to the tea towel. Thank you for watching! 😘
Do you talk about why you use gel matte medium? I don’t know anything abt it and don’t know what makes it different than craft glue or PVA. Thank you!
Oop! I just got to where you said that gel medium dries faster versus pva 😂 is that the only reason why?
@@GrungeGranny PVA is traditionally used for book arts. I use Golden Gel Matte Medium, because I am a professional artist and am accustomed to using professional product. When using an adhesive to glue collage, the image should be covered and edges glued down too.. this keeps the image from lifting.. if you are creating personal work then you would not need to use a professional quality adhesive.
@@CaterinaGiglio thank you!
Cool what do you do with all your little books?
I sell them..😘
How do you organize all of your bits of paper and fabric?
Stacey Willard Hi Stacey.. here is my video on studio organization ruclips.net/video/P2ZvyeP_230/видео.html&feature=share
What a jewel, Cat! So small, but so evocative ❤️
mindy Thank you so much! ♥️

Alrighty then! 😘

Debi Minter 💗💓💗 back!
Coddie paper? Watercolor paper? Don't understand what it is.
The paper is Khadi paper.. very soft and perfect for mixed media.. here is a link.. www.amazon.com/Handmade-Paperback-book-Square-20cm/dp/B005UA6DI8
@@CaterinaGiglio It really looks like watercolor paper.
Thank you.
@@JUPANDY it is similar to watercolor paper, but has a higher rag content.. so it is easy to stitch and not as hard as watercolor paper.. it bends easily unlike watercolor paper.
