  • ✨ Who owns the sound recording (master) when there are several people/voices on the record?
✨ Under a work for hire agreement the main artist is going to request that all vocal performers transfer their ownership in the recording to them. The main artist has to do this because their vocals performances created an ownership interest in the recording and in order for the main artist to move forward with 100% ownership, a transfer must occur. A transfer will not negate payment of fees and royalties which should be spelled out in the agreement as well.

Here is my question : A Producer (composer of the song music etc ) created the music arrangements that existed (online Spotify iTunes / beatstars (for only leasing)
    - can a composer still own his masters of the sound and writing even if he/she released the instrumental album on all platforms and copyrighted years before ?
I just wanted to know if they can still lease out song for a small fee from there copyrighted compositions
And would they be able to send this same sound recording to other producers , would they now be a derivative work? (If not paid) they have the coproduction for it ?
