It only takes 20 years to understand and to get what you are teaching about the effortless downswing. Once you hit a ball as you demonstrate and when it all falls into place it's mesmerizing and the light goes off, it's not about hitting at the ball more like collecting the ball. You are no doubt the best instructor on 'The You Tube '

Just got into this channel a few days ago and am totally addicted. This is now my 100 % "GO TO" instructional video channel. Concepts are simple and straightforward and consistent with his focus on having a natural flowing swing towards the target....not hitting at the ball with 5 or 6 segmented swing thoughts. Have been practicing only 2 techniques for the last 4 days. Currently playing off a 7 handicap and plan is to get it to 4 by this fall. Thanks so much for your dedication to simple instruction. I watch about 20 other instructional golf channels and don't need them anymore, keeping it simple and fun and natural and flowing and getting my instruction here now. Cheers from Canada

This technique actually works. I’ve been struggling with the transition from the top since I started playing golf and I’ve tried every weight/pressure transfer tip on RUclips with no success. I watched this video last night and then practiced this morning and I was crushing the ball making the perfect contact every shot. Just be sure to make a full hip turn and then just gently sit into the left side (if you’re a righty). Thanks Alex.

Excellent lesson....this could be the number one thing that so many beginners just don't get at first. That "falling back" feeling is what I've also heard people describe as "when you get to the top of your back swing, try to put your back knee where your front knee is". It's a great swing trigger thought.

Love your videos because they’re geared more towards natural feels versus static positioning. My best golf happens when I feel the swing and just let it happen. Then…I’ll find a way to mess it up by trying to get into a certain position to correct something that cost me a shot or two during the round, instead of sticking with the feel that was working, accepting the mistake and moving on. The baseball throw eventually becomes natural if you play the game. You don’t go and change your throwing “motion” because of a bad throw, you move on. It only becomes an issue if you can’t move on and dwell on it, then change what was once natural. I’ve been working on my rhythm as of late, but will be placing more emphasis on motion to enhance the feel of naturally swinging the club with consistent results, and not abandoning my swing if/when something goes awry…cause it will. Take Care 🤙🏾

    • @alnickerson2525
      @alnickerson2525 2 года назад

@@lesterlolester Yes, I did gain some distance. I had to go down a club for my irons. Doing that early "fall" or drift (at the top of the backswing / beginning of the downswing) stopped me from pulling or yanking the club down from the top. The "fall" started the club down passively and on the right plane. It stopped me from going over the top, which happened when I pulled the club down.
My swing felt more fluid. And although the swing speed seemed slower, the ball went clearly farther. (I think the speed through impact may have been higher, even though the swing felt slower.) And the ball direction was more consistent. I was pretty happy.
I had tried perviously to do this kind of move at the top of the backswing, knew I should be doing it, but I couldn't find a way that felt comfortable or seemed natural. For some reason, the way he explained it in the video worked for me.

As always from the best instructor on RUclips. One suggestion I might make also is to watch a little of the LPGA. On the PGA the pro’s have a much quicker tempo and you don’t see this movement near as well as you do with most of the women on the LPGA who’s swings for the most part seem slower and more deliberate. I think the one thing that blows people away is how far you hit the ball with what seems like a slower swing. Along with that come much improved accuracy.

Hi Alex... My transition has always been inconsistent, so after watching this video last night, I tried it out tonight on the range after work.
All I can say is.... Oh. My. God.
After a few dry practice swings to get a feel for it, I grabbed my 52 (which I hit 100-ish). Consistently went 120-ish, high and straight. 7 iron average 150, went 170, high and straight. Driver average 220-230, went 250-260, high and straight. I have never in my life hit driver like that. Ever.
And all of this was done tonight hitting *into a consistent 20-30 MPH wind!*
Didn't take me long to figure out the turn in the takeaway is critical -- bad turn, you''re screwed. The slingshot/catapult analogy is spot on, that's exactly how I felt. I can't wait to go smash more bombs tomorrow. Thank you for the tip!

Excellent video. I was a little off today with my swing and i practiced this move afterward which helped a lot. Actually before seeing this. I have saved this video to remind myself. I knew it felt right but couldn’t put it into words as you have. Ha

Clearing the hips in order to finally get more towards the target and have a body swing is the main thing I am working on. Your suggested additional move seems a game changer for me. At least at home ;-). So I will try on the range soon. Hopeful. Thanks!

Tried this on the range today and then played a few holes. Totally effortless power! Didn’t even think about hitting with my arms and honestly have no idea how the club head found the ball but it did! Every time. I even completely smoked my 5 wood straight through a dogleg that normally I’d hit a 3 wood. Unbelievable tip!!

It’s like my body starts to feel that hip “fall” and naturally responds by planting the left foot to stop the fall. As a result, the arms and club swing through to balance out the fall/leg plant.

Absolutely Perfect….the Beauty of this action is it gets u to the left side so as to enable u to extend (upwards) and turn the bent left knee up in conjunction with the turning of the left hip a key to distance using ground force ……a feeling most never experience ……providing of course u have turned ur knees properly in the backswing….a video on this extremely important element would be awesome(presuming u have not done this already ….and apologies if u have)

This is an excellent video! Only took me a few minutes to get it. Hitting half flight practice balls in my back yard. Every one a solid hit and at least 10-15 yards longer than before. I would suggest, however, to make a big point of telling viewers not to sway. That was my problem for many years. Got me into a lot of trouble. I would emphasize a stable base. Anyway, thanks so much! Can't wait to get out on the course.

Hi Alex what you are saying is 100 percent true for those who wish to become a lower body dominant golfer. But at 75 I simply can not get my brain to do the fall back as I am reaching the top of my backswing. The timing and tempo would take me years to practice this at at my stage of my life i just don’t have the time
So I said forget about this to myself. I am going to teach myself how to become a successful full upper body dominant golfer. And so I have and turned my golf swing into a simple and deliberate two part move that every one can do. I call it my 1&1/2 second golf drill for a lifetime of better golf that is the golf swing itself. Or more simply put The Two Part Diagonal Swing
I know this may be grandiose of me; but I truly believe I am the first in the world to this teach the easiest and most effective golf swing ever. It works for a number of reasons that the golfer need not think about
And so after much exploring on my part I now feel like I am an elite upper body dominant golfer
    How did I do it?
It is not so much i control my my hands; wrists; or arms as i swing my club. I simply use the limited 20 degree range of motion of specifically my trail shoulder joint that every human body possesses; to guide my swing as my body is slanted behind my golf ball
And so once in my golf posture and my aim is true I simply pull the club back with my trail shoulder and then push my club forward with my trail shoulder. That’s it! Done This is all I consciously can do as I permit my upper body « action »; my lower body « reaction « automatically takes place. It is that simple
Golfers should know that for every action of a pull there is an equally opposite reaction of a push; and for every action of push their is an equal and opposite reaction of a pull. And the science fact is because we are all human being; our brain can only control either a push or a pull; but should never ever try to control or feel the opposite. Cheers ❤️👍😃⛳️🥂

This is a great video Alex, my problem is that I can do perfect practice swings just brushing the grass or a rubber tee, but as soon as there is a ball in front of me, I try to attack it like a neanderthal. I think that's my ego, I'm going to concentrate on your great tips, much appreciated.

Yeah. About a year ago I played a competitive round and told the guys, 'this is going to be ugly today guys'. I just committed to freely whipping through the ball without trying to control the clubhead, and 'take over' etc... I had an ok round, but more importantly, I hit some really nice shots. Many shots did not go where I was aiming. Since then, I just work much more on my aim. Alex has helped my swing more than any other youtuber. His hands 'low' was an eye opener for me. I recommend that one too. Best wishes.

this is a key move that ive read about time and time again. I could never get it down it seem just to hard so I gave up and reverted back to a poor swing .I tried it in the back yard with some wiffle balls and something it actually clicked ...felt very odd at first but I was hitting very clean and crisp,.The feeling i got was i was stretching my left arm cross my chest then releasing ...I kept practicing to be aware of that feel you described as a sling shot pulling the band back .then letting go .Now I need to take to the DR then play.

This advice agrees with my determination that all power in sports is generated with the lower body. A key is to focus on how I balance my weight just a little ahead of the ball.
