This is perfect timing! It is just what I started working on. I am thinking shift my hips to start the downswing but you’re saying just let it fall and turn witch sounds good to me. Will add that feeling next time I head to the park to practice. Thx
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf as I said in my reply it did! Got 8 guys headed out to play a course tomorrow that gave me a little trouble last time. Fully expect to play well. Watched a couple more of your videos but gonna stick with the first one “fall into the shot” for now. A great feeling. Thx again 👍
This is the part of the swing I struggle with the most. This is a great video to understand the feeling needed in the star of the downswing. Thank you for this video, this is a game changer for me 👏
Love your videos because they’re geared more towards natural feels versus static positioning. My best golf happens when I feel the swing and just let it happen. Then…I’ll find a way to mess it up by trying to get into a certain position to correct something that cost me a shot or two during the round, instead of sticking with the feel that was working, accepting the mistake and moving on. The baseball throw eventually becomes natural if you play the game. You don’t go and change your throwing “motion” because of a bad throw, you move on. It only becomes an issue if you can’t move on and dwell on it, then change what was once natural. I’ve been working on my rhythm as of late, but will be placing more emphasis on motion to enhance the feel of naturally swinging the club with consistent results, and not abandoning my swing if/when something goes awry…cause it will. Take Care 🤙🏾
I have just recently discovered this move and you just made it much clearer. I will play with it today for the first time. I’ll let you know how I do and I will subscribe. Thank you!

It's a great swing trigger thought.
Excellent video Alex! I have gone to a light grip on the handle which relaxes the wrists and arms. Now, I am able to feel the club head a lot better as it is dropping into its impact position. Your videos have helped me tremendously in tailoring my swing! Thank You!!
Brilliant! And simple. My tendency has been my hands out racing my core. But the “feel of falling” has slowed everything down and my shots are now much tighter. I also noticed that where previously my strikes were slightly off center, towards the toe, now the strikes are more aligned to the sweet spot. Thanks!

Too kind but thank you! Yes I often tell stubborn guys to watch the ladies swing. So much to learn and apply. Not forcing it, allowing flow and movement with tempo and balance. Helps every golfer. Cheers! 👍🏌️♂️
I’ve been working on this very thing. George Knudson keeping my arms like spaghetti letting the weight of the club being my tempo. When i go bad is when i just let it fall without shifting my weight along with it. people ask me how I hit it so far swinging so easy. You are letting the rhythm be you key not positions . Thanks for reminding me you are now my only channel
Very good instruction. I was overdoing it to the point that my butt is gliding towards the target...now I know how to correct it and hit the ball with optimum acceleration at the point of impact and follow thru in a balanced state after the swing. Thank you!

This technique actually works. I’ve been struggling with the transition from the top since I started playing golf and I’ve tried every weight/pressure transfer tip on RUclips with no success. I watched this video last night and then practiced this morning and I was crushing the ball making the perfect contact every shot. Just be sure to make a full hip turn and then just gently sit into the left side (if you’re a righty). Thanks Alex.
Can't wait to try it...I've been stuck with compartmentalizing my swing, and it has caused me to lose some consistency. Good days and bad days, but want more good lol.
After over 20 years of swinging at the ball, this feeling your talking about happened. It was the start of crisp irons that go long with minimal effort. It’s now a thing where I need to ingrain it’s into every swing. I love the description and drill which will hopefully ingrain it into every swing.
I've watched this 5 times and I'll keep watching and practicing until it's seared into my muscle memory. I think if I can master your instruction, everything else will just be fine tuning a super solid golf swing. Thanks so much!
I think this is the best video I have seen about weight shift and starting the “downswing” that I’ve seen. Been practicing in the mirror and think I’m doing it properly, can’t wait to put it to the test on the range. Great video keep it up!
Absolutely Perfect….the Beauty of this action is it gets u to the left side so as to enable u to extend (upwards) and turn the bent left knee up in conjunction with the turning of the left hip a key to distance using ground force ……a feeling most never experience ……providing of course u have turned ur knees properly in the backswing….a video on this extremely important element would be awesome(presuming u have not done this already ….and apologies if u have)
Clearing the hips in order to finally get more towards the target and have a body swing is the main thing I am working on. Your suggested additional move seems a game changer for me. At least at home ;-). So I will try on the range soon. Hopeful. Thanks!
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf I did see some progress today on the DR but not quite there yet. Will need some more practice. But still think this will help me. Thanks!
Tried this on the range today and then played a few holes. Totally effortless power! Didn’t even think about hitting with my arms and honestly have no idea how the club head found the ball but it did! Every time. I even completely smoked my 5 wood straight through a dogleg that normally I’d hit a 3 wood. Unbelievable tip!!
It’s like my body starts to feel that hip “fall” and naturally responds by planting the left foot to stop the fall. As a result, the arms and club swing through to balance out the fall/leg plant.
This is an excellent video! Only took me a few minutes to get it. Hitting half flight practice balls in my back yard. Every one a solid hit and at least 10-15 yards longer than before. I would suggest, however, to make a big point of telling viewers not to sway. That was my problem for many years. Got me into a lot of trouble. I would emphasize a stable base. Anyway, thanks so much! Can't wait to get out on the course.
Excellent video. I was a little off today with my swing and i practiced this move afterward which helped a lot. Actually before seeing this. I have saved this video to remind myself. I knew it felt right but couldn’t put it into words as you have. Ha
Brilliant as always, 'feeling' my hips start the downswing, has really made my path so much more consistent and 100% added more effortless yards. Would definitely recommend at least trying this for ANYONE that has strong over the top tendencies, this is a life saver.. thank you as always!
Tried this at the driving range today. Still booted a couple of shots but by and large I was able to hit the ball more consistently both on drives and shorter distance shots. Thank you!
This one really connected with me - I went right out to try it and so far - that butt move - and the way you explained it with the video from all sides - really makes a difference! Seem to be striping the irons and I lost the sometimes fat shot. Without that sit move - I was coming over the top to not hit fat - but I can feel the shallowing now and the ball flight and contact is much better. Thanks !
It works with driver too! Just allow for more tilt in set up and the fall may feel a little more up. But it depends on a few other things in your swing. Test it out :)
Hi Alex thank you for a great video. I am an anxious person from the top and hit at the ball and therefore come over the top. I will definitely try the method you have suggested. thank you
Yes. I try this with my practice swing. Feels like I'm leaving everything "up there" with shoulders staying pointing right of target a little longer. It really works!
I discovered this 3 years ago and my golf game has moved to a new level. Too bad it took instructors years to teach this. Percy boomer from the 20s has been teaching this! Good video.
This is inderd probabaly the most important piece of the puzzle. Really notic my iron strikes are way better and crisper with this move. Question though: does same move apply to hybrids, woods and driver?? Keep up the good work👌
@The Art of Simple Golf thanks for clarification about a little adjustment for driver. How about the hip fall move for pitching? At first I thought I would not want to make that subtle hip move on pitching downswing since that might move my weight too much back and forth. But on a second thought, I am curious how else then I would transition into downswing on pitching shots
Excellent video! Do you feel your arms are helping in the downswing, or do feel they are just going along for the ride (gravity) being pulled down by your feet? i know my arms always have some tension. Thanks
@@lesterlolester Yes, I did gain some distance. I had to go down a club for my irons. Doing that early "fall" or drift (at the top of the backswing / beginning of the downswing) stopped me from pulling or yanking the club down from the top. The "fall" started the club down passively and on the right plane. It stopped me from going over the top, which happened when I pulled the club down. My swing felt more fluid. And although the swing speed seemed slower, the ball went clearly farther. (I think the speed through impact may have been higher, even though the swing felt slower.) And the ball direction was more consistent. I was pretty happy. I had tried perviously to do this kind of move at the top of the backswing, knew I should be doing it, but I couldn't find a way that felt comfortable or seemed natural. For some reason, the way he explained it in the video worked for me.
@@alnickerson2525 Thanks for your sharing. You are genius to get the effortlessness swing from video clip in short period of time. I only hit a few shots as you mentioned in 60 balls but it is amazing.. I can feel what your happiness from. Let's keep it up and hit more consistent shots in golf course.. CHEERS
@@lesterlolester I had to practice the move many times, very slowly, inside our apartment, before I could incorporate it into my swing out at the range or on the course. I had difficulty incorporating the move into my left hip / pelvis turn. So I didn't just go out and do it. I wish it were that easy. Good luck!
Alex : Great insight to developing a truly rhythmic, dynamic swing! This falling motion is a topic that deserves far more attention from instructors and so glad that you brought it to light . This move is one that I've been seeking and committed to learning , but is still elusive to me. Any specific drills that you'd recommend for a movement that is so subtle? Seems the hips must turn to a great extent first or the golfer's body is actually precluded from doing this falling motion correctly . true ??
Yes I think what you are saying sounds correct… it’s a continuous feel of pelvis rotation and falling back around to target… then we feel a “catching” of weight and then the rest of body and arms flow if you allow it. The drill of club across pelvis should help. Keep rehearsing without a club first
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf Thank you Alex ! Will work on the club across the pelvis drill. Like your notion of "continuous feel of pelvic rotation" not a stopping, disconnected series of motions . Will keep this front on mind in doing the drill. Hope to report back some progress soon ! thanks
You have good tone, pace, and emphasis in your presentations, and meaningful topics. Thank you. Do you have the courage to attempt these movements left-handed. If you did you would experience and feel what I do when I try them.

I think this is the best video I have seen about weight shift and starting the “downswing” that I’ve seen. Been practicing in the mirror and think I’m doing it properly, can’t wait to put it to the test on the range. Great video keep it up!
That’s marvelous and please let us know how it goes.
This is soooo good. Thanks!!
Glad to hear it:)
Truly great coaching keep it up 👍👌
Thank you kindly
Looking forward to trying this on the range. Is it the same action for the driver?
Yes. I will do another video on the driver as many have asked. You need to adjust set up and feel a fall but higher hips finish
Absolutely Perfect….the Beauty of this action is it gets u to the left side so as to enable u to extend (upwards) and turn the bent left knee up in conjunction with the turning of the left hip a key to distance using ground force ……a feeling most never experience ……providing of course u have turned ur knees properly in the backswing….a video on this extremely important element would be awesome(presuming u have not done this already ….and apologies if u have)
Thanks! Not sure exactly what you mean re the knees in backswing though
Left knee bend extends on backswing
Clearing the hips in order to finally get more towards the target and have a body swing is the main thing I am working on. Your suggested additional move seems a game changer for me. At least at home ;-). So I will try on the range soon. Hopeful. Thanks!
Cheers and at home is a good start! Let us know how it goes
Well done! Exactly what I tried to explain and delighted it resonated with you. Thank you for coming back to share! 🏌️♂️👍🏆
Cheers for that and yes, not swaying is key and why I talk frequently about centered swing feels etc. keep at it!
Yes I’m going to try. I have only recently discovered how to get some lag in my swing. This looks like it will help me gain som distance as well.
Excellent! Glad it resonated and let us know how you get on. Remember you don’t get lag my forcing the angle.. transition in flow is the key.
Excellent video. I was a little off today with my swing and i practiced this move afterward which helped a lot. Actually before seeing this. I have saved this video to remind myself. I knew it felt right but couldn’t put it into words as you have. Ha
Well done for getting there and glad to have help d to affirm
Excellent video again will defo be practicing that move 👍 keep up the good work
Good to know and certainly will do!
Brilliant as always, 'feeling' my hips start the downswing, has really made my path so much more consistent and 100% added more effortless yards. Would definitely recommend at least trying this for ANYONE that has strong over the top tendencies, this is a life saver.. thank you as always!
Marvelous and happy to hear it’s resonated and clicked! Thanks for sharing!
Great Video Alex - Free Flow - Opposing Forces - John Toledo Ohio
Nice drill. Is it the same concept for all clubs just adjusted for length of backswing and ball positions?
Yes and set up 👍
Tried this at the driving range today. Still booted a couple of shots but by and large I was able to hit the ball more consistently both on drives and shorter distance shots. Thank you!
Bad shots will happen no matter who or when lol. Keep at it!
Thanks !
Well done and very glad you got up and tried. Delighted to hear it resonated and thanks for sharing! 💪🏌️
Can't get enough. You are the sensation, in all areas.
Well that is kind of you to say and glad the lessons on here resonate!
Great tips! is this move also works for driver or irons only?
It works with driver too! Just allow for more tilt in set up and the fall may feel a little more up. But it depends on a few other things in your swing. Test it out :)
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
More than welcome
Great tip as always Alex!
Love the subtle approach and it’s something you can practice at home.
just love this move and it makes so much sense.
Good to hear !
Hi Alex thank you for a great video. I am an anxious person from the top and hit at the ball and therefore come over the top. I will definitely try the method you have suggested. thank you
Cheers! The other video recently will help that too.
Yes. I try this with my practice swing. Feels like I'm leaving everything "up there" with shoulders staying pointing right of target a little longer. It really works!
Excellent to hear it!
Awesome video ! U really simplify that key move !
Cheers!!
I discovered this 3 years ago and my golf game has moved to a new level. Too bad it took instructors years to teach this. Percy boomer from the 20s has been teaching this! Good video.
Well that’s so awesome to hear! And I will search Percy out! 👍🏌️♂️
This is inderd probabaly the most important piece of the puzzle. Really notic my iron strikes are way better and crisper with this move. Question though: does same move apply to hybrids, woods and driver?? Keep up the good work👌
The me and yes. Very much the same just the tilt at address with driver will alter the Andre of the “fall” to be more on upswing
I’ll def give it a try!
🏌️♂️👍
This advice is excellent thank you!!!
More than welcome
Excellent video! Do you feel your arms are helping in the downswing, or do feel they are just going along for the ride (gravity) being pulled down by your feet? i know my arms always have some tension. Thanks
Sometimes I suggest to “do” something with the arms for sure… but most would benefit from a heavy arms feel and to not force it
Nice job. Also, love the Apex irons. I hope to get back to them as my game improves.
They are sweet
Brilliant enough! Thanks.
Glad to hear it!
Brilliant! I practiced at home, went to the course today; it worked perfectly. Thanks!
Excellent!! Keep at it
Gain more distance after changing swing? Just curiosity
Hope to report back some progress soon ! thanks
@@markdegrandpre6918 please do!
So bloody good Alex!
Cheers lol 🏌️♂️👍
You have good tone, pace, and emphasis in your presentations, and meaningful topics. Thank you. Do you have the courage to attempt these movements left-handed. If you did you would experience and feel what I do when I try them.
Very kind of you and much appreciated. I might just give it a bash. I am a very right hand dominant fella and it all started as a kid playing tennis as my first sport. Golf came a lot later but some left handed attempts might yield some interesting results :)
Yes, this is missing from my swing, I will practice this! Thanks!
Let us know how you get on
Alex, nice thought here. Do you think this weight falling in transition is better for a body or arms release method? Thanks.
It should not matter. The feel can help
Alex, can this "falling" move become the way one initializes the downsing, like a "transition" move? Love your approach!!
100% indeed! Cheers 🏌️♂️👍
Great demonstration thanks !!!
Thank you kindly!
Love this vid. Makes total sense 👍 will practice this tomorrow
Let us know how it goes
Right Pocket Back! Love your content, Alex!
Good way to think of it! Cheers
