I will give this tip a go. but I do a squat on my backswing, but sometimes I can squat too much when playing into the wind resulting in a hook! Thank you so much in helping my game this year and am sure you have helped many!
At 7:10, you talk about “feel the weight of the club”, which is good advice. I do this swing action, but I don’t just want to “feel the weight of the club”…I grip & swing it to “feel the weight of the club head”, instead! And then, in the actual swing, my thoughts go to “swing the handle” which flings the club head with speed! 👍
I tried starting my backswing with my trail leg to sling back my upper body, hands and club, resulting to a more consistent ball strike. I can relate to what you’re demonstrating. Nice tip.
Yes! I recently shortened my back swing (many would say it's less than a 3/4 swing). The result- gained 10-15 yards with irons, consistently hitting the middle of the club and really compressing the ball.

I’ve been having this problem lately def will try this. End of last season I had that nice and free flowing and smooth swing but somewhere between the start of this season and now I lost it. Especially w driver! I was finally thinking that I had this game somewhat figured out and was hitting fairways consistently w no stress at the tee either. I was confident in my swing and the feel was so nice!!! Then I started lifting weights again and I believe that’s what got everything all cocked up lol.
You got this! Make sure you stretch and do agile moves in the gym. I train 4x a week if i can and it's not "golf specific" per say. But I do notice if i train hard and don't stretch or add some mobility moves etc.
Great video, Alex! Thanks! I'm trying to start my swing with the pivot instead of my usual early wrist set. This should help keep my arms and wrists more passive!
Saw this video last night so thought I would try it on the range today before I played golf. Like most golfers who have been playing a while although I can hit some great shots, my striking of the ball can be a bit inconsistent. Well I played a great round today, only duffed 1 shot. I shall continue to use this to start my swing, with one slight variation when my back heel goes down on the back swing I slightly raise my front heel and then put it back down before my downswing starts, works a treat. Thanks for the tips, love the channel.
I've tinkered with that variation myself, & I like it. My problem is my golfing partners are ALWAYS spouting off advice at all my new techniques, I guess we all have that problem. Time to start telling them to {respectfully}SHUT THE HELL UP!! LOL
@@cgvagf There is always plenty of advice out there, you've got to go with what works for you. This resonated with me because I sometimes don't transfer Weight/pressure correctly and this seems to allow me to do it without having to think about it during my swing.

Great stuff! Every time I focus on getting weight into my heels properly, the golf swing seems simple. The jumbled mess of thoughts goes away. Can you do a video on your thoughts about the action of the lead foot heel?
The flat tuning on my hips is my key problem (I think) I have been thinking about it as a flat turn of the shoulders but it is better to start from the ground up to identify root causes. Thanks for the help!
I've tried a number of triggers to try to start my backswing however I never thought of lifting the right heal. I'll give it a go and let you know how I get on. My takeaway is my biggest problem when I'm addressing the ball, however if there is no ball I have no problem? I was once a single figure handicap player however now that I've got the "takeaway issue", my game is terrible! Sometimes I have to sway in order to move the club into the takeaway and you know what swaying does to a shot. Any other suggestions ? I'm enjoying watching your channel - thank you.
What about Arnie's key of pointing the left shoulder to the ball, would that be sufficient to starting the backswing if we are able to keep the arms connected? What I like about that is it also promotes (at least for me) the proper tilt?
HI Alex- Good video and raising right heel for me is a great idea to start the backswing. Trouble with slamming it down (or planting it) down for purposes of creating momentum - which is good- bit the bad part is that this action encourages or keeps both the weight and pressure on the right foot when you get to the top of the backswing. That is where I do not want to be. I want to be with the majority of weight on the front foot at the top not the rear foot so I just keep the heel up to the top that really helps in getting more weight onto the lead foot . This greatly facilitates transition to get into the slot on the way down. At the top the lead shoulder and lead hip is lower than the rear shoulder and rear hip. Great angle to come down into the ball accompanied by the appropriate amount of turn or pivot.
It's all about the transition and flow. Swing the clubhead and allow transition to happen before you complete your backswing. We have videos on this on YT and of course in Our Online Club
If tried this before but maybe lifted the heel to high! I like the lithe lift method and will give it some practice! Simple trigger that I think will be easy to implement! 🐊🏌🇵🇷🦅👍
I used to do a thing of lift my heel like this but on the backswing lift my lead heel up and plant it down and take a couple practice swings to just get a tempo. I have a thought that I haven’t seen much on but I felt something here lately with my swing. I’ve noticed my hands are closer to my body on the downswing. Can you do something on hands? Typical “over the top” I think is misconception of getting the club shallow. I can shallow and still chop the ball. I’ve started approaching the game as every swing the hands need to be low. That’s not really taught for over the top but it’s exactly what it is
Can certainly work for pitching… chipping you want more weight on from side though. But even trigger the toes can help. Just feel in feet without raising
I noticed your left foot is not exactly 12:00 straight,it's turned more at 11:00 o'clock but your right foot is at 12o clock. Is that the proper setup/address to take for irons and driver shots? I have always had my left foot at 12:00 and when I take away and finish my foot dramatically moves like Arnold palmer. I have seen your other vids very informative thanks
I tend to flare both out. But it depends da how the swing is feeling. If I prefer a little more lower body wind up resistance as it were, I will not have it flared out. Lead foot always 11
Another possibility is to start the backswing with a slight bounce of the knees. And the downswing with another bounce, which will provide vertical force and effortless power.
I have done everything. My opinion is always changing. Right now I understand what you are saying but eventually these moves lead to disaster. Doing these little triggers I feel eventually lead to changing a good setup into being in a bad position as you continue a certain trigger. At this moment I’m with my man Jack by turning my head to the right and not changing my address position in any way. I just feel eventually these moves lead to being out of the correct posture angles

Every time I watch Lee Westwood play and he addresses the ball, I’m screaming “swing the club!” He starts his club from a complete standstill and waits several seconds before starting his backswing, but it obviously works for him!
When I am in my stance during my down swing I raise up I cant stay like I was at address, so bend at the knee's at address, bend is their at back swing and just before I hit the ball I am standing up. This drives me crazy.
It’s a sequence thing that a golfer would need to practice repeatedly to put it in their golf swing DNA. Personally I am not good at this; but I see the merit for other to see if this repeated move works for them. But the fact is that in any great golfers backswing; pressure on the players trail heel has been shown through expensive electronics; however this occurs for them second nature and only for the briefest of moments. Cheers
it's more important where the club is going when you start the backswing. this other stuff is all head games. would you forget to take the club back if you dont raise your foot
As a golf pro,I Do not too believe too much of technical jargon.i agree with you and it is best to have natural fluid swing which can provide you more mental freedom. Max Golf pro from india
Alex, nice post. This might be a gamechanger as I tend to get stuck at address. Question: This move seems to promote a more free turn of the hips. For a long time I have had the feeling that Nicklaus started his swing with a hip turn. See ruclips.net/video/DEnNPNNHhns/видео.html - What do you think?
This is interesting. Consistent with Shawn Clement’s philosophy of being in motion to let your body govern motion. From a static start, the tendency is to overthink it. I’m guilty!
Yes. Long time greats and teachers have focussed on movement.. It's how I learned to play, but the golf teaching industry damaged me many moons ago. So I'm on a mission to avoid that for you all :)_
Some lessons need more indepth to embed the learning and to know if applicable. Folks bouncing from Quick tip after quick tip is part of the issue. If we had an in person or online lesson, we would not cover this is 4 minutes and send you on your way.

@@courtneyroy270 give this a try and let us know how it goes;)
They used to call this a "forward press". A lot of good players do this.Quite subtle.

Nice ;)
Every time I watch Lee Westwood play and he addresses the ball, I’m screaming “swing the club!” He starts his club from a complete standstill and waits several seconds before starting his backswing, but it obviously works for him!
Oh for sure! But let’s not forget he has played full time golf for 30 years :)
When I am in my stance during my down swing I raise up I cant stay like I was at address, so bend at the knee's at address, bend is their at back swing and just before I hit the ball I am standing up. This drives me crazy.
Early extension.. we have lessons on that here on yt and our club membership
Can you add lifting the left heel on the backswing and slamming it down on the downswing?
Yes ! Absolutely!
!!!!ty
More than welcome
It’s a sequence thing that a golfer would need to practice repeatedly to put it in their golf swing DNA. Personally I am not good at this; but I see the merit for other to see if this repeated move works for them. But the fact is that in any great golfers backswing; pressure on the players trail heel has been shown through expensive electronics; however this occurs for them second nature and only for the briefest of moments. Cheers
Yeh this helps create a feel and awareness to perhaps get to the less visible version
it's more important where the club is going when you start the backswing. this other stuff is all head games. would you forget to take the club back if you dont raise your foot
Swinging the club head is the most important thing. But this is to help folks break the bad habits
As a golf pro,I Do not too believe too much of technical jargon.i agree with you and it is best to have natural fluid swing which can provide you more mental freedom.

Excellent and thanks for input. Glad to have you with us!
What works for me is to keep the club low without leaning forward or swaying back.
I like it
I always find the takeaway awkward but now I realize it’s because I’m too static. Great tip.
Many do… hope this gives a good feel and helps you ;)

Alex, nice post. This might be a gamechanger as I tend to get stuck at address. Question: This move seems to promote a more free turn of the hips. For a long time I have had the feeling that Nicklaus started his swing with a hip turn. See ruclips.net/video/DEnNPNNHhns/видео.html - What do you think?
Yes that can work and something I talk about in other videos.
I freeze over the ball with too many swing thoughts. I don't complete the back swing. This has been happening for the past 4 years.
This and others we have on the topic should help!
It took 5 and one half minutes to get to the point!
Some lessons need more indepth to embed the learning and to know if applicable. Folks bouncing from Quick tip after quick tip is part of the issue. If we had an in person or online lesson, we would not cover this is 4 minutes and send you on your way.
