    “Cracked Actor”
    Aisle 5 - Atlanta, GA
    June 2nd, 2024
Here is the very first live sample of THE BAND WHO FELL TO EARTH, our Atlanta based David Bowie tribute. Originally known as JEROME NEWTON & THE BAND WHO FELL TO EARTH, we rebranded ourselves this past spring while working with our new vocalist, Christina Leidel. Originally from the world of theatre and cinema, Christina brings a fresh, dynamic and fully committed presence to centerstage that has also reinvigorated our veteran band of musicians. This video is from our debut show as simply The Band Who Fell to Earth.
“Cracked Actor” was the second song of the evening and one of the songs we really looked forward to showcasing. Originally from David Bowie’s 1973 album ALADDIN SANE, this selection seemed like a perfect fit for our own ‘cracked actor’. Deep Bowie fans will instantly get the whole reason Christina is singing to a skull here (whom she named Yorick). It’s based on David’s original stage presentation of the song, which was a parody a famous scene from Shakespeare’s HAMLET. This was something I’d always wanted us to try, so I was glad to see Christina embrace the concept with so much enthusiasm.
I think a few attendees at our show were scratching their heads at Christina's spoken word intro to this song, but she was actually quoting David - as she would throughout the show.
This is just a little taste of things to come…. Come see us live!
    The Band:
