I remembered the Weapons being the planet's last defense in saving itself, and they attacked the cities with direct access to the Mako/Lifestream... in this video it sounded like their purpose was vague.
Don't really get the purpose of this comment. He explicitly said: "a biomechanical monster team who are supposed to protect the planet during catastrophic events but instead they just start busting up towns". I've never even played a Final Fantasy game (outside of 14) before today and understood the Weapon's purpose. Basically just evil Godzillas.
@@6ixlxrd thats not what they are tho. The cities use the planets lifeforce as energy aka draining the planet, so defending the planet means attacking the cities. The weapons just serve their purpose but since theyre programmed and not really conscious beings they would also kill humans. Avalanche has a better plan so they discard them.
@@LucasFR11 The Weapon's literal purpose is to "protect the (nameless) Planet" as quoted directly from the game itself. And they are indeed simply biomechanical monsters.
な6IXLXRD what he’s saying is, they’re not evil and busting up towns is precisely what they need to do. Humanity are the ones responsible for the planets summoning of the weapons. So naturally the weapons will set out to destroy humanity, to save the planet from them. That doesn’t make them evil. In this scenario, it’s the people draining the life from the planet who are evil.
な6IXLXRD They are actually protecting the planet by busting towns. The towns consume planet’s life force. So busting up towns is actually saving the planet.
+Steve Mefford I refuse to rely on anything that comes from IGN. I just came to see how bad they'd mess this up. They can't pronounce half of the names and it's rather pathetic.
idk man i am pretty sure 8/9ths of the game is chocobo racing. half that stuff i think your bullshitting about i just remember chocobo racings and sephy dropped a moon on the earth mid fight
Woa woa woa, if I remember correctly she didn't MARRY Hojo, they just simply boned in the name of science according to her. You should mention too that Sephiroth fell into the lifestream but due to Jenova's cells couldn't be absorbed by it and he was able to create himself a new body after going dormant for awhile. Both the wiki and what I remember from the games does state that Cloud and Zack were in fact BOTH failed Sephiroth "clones". Not actually clones but part of the same experiment. The wiki states that Cloud became a successful clone when he was drawn through Jenova's cells by Sephiroth to retrieve the Black Materia for him during the reunion. Successful clones were those who acted on the reunion instinct. However, the memory thing was true... He blocked Zack out of all of his memories and instead put him in his place in those memories when in reality he was just a scrub in the background.
DingDongDanger They call them clones just because they were infused with Jenova cells. Just like Sephiroth. That's it. That's the only relevance the word "Clone" has regarding them. Just copied experiments.
+striderpsv I personally had to play through the game twice to get all of it. The stuff about about jenova shapeshifting and clones being controlled was confusing.
cangri1788 Yeah, it's mentioned I believe early disc 2 when Cloud hands over the black materia. Then the Gast videos (along with one or two other moments) in the Inn reveal she's a shapeshifter. You kind of had to put it all together after you realize what's going on with Cloud and the clones
Uks notorious pereira two reasons. First, he was around Zack enough to see/pick up on Zack fighting style. Second, high level exposure to Mako/Hojo experimenting on him in the Shinra Manor.
Exactly. And while the experimenting Hojo added Jenova's Cells to Cloud. Cloud was just lucky that Zack saved him so he wouldn't die, turn into a monster (like the creatures in the Makoreactor in Nibelheim) or becomes a mindless crackhead (like the Numbers). Also Zack and Cloud were friends and Cloud admired Zack, so it's no wonder he catched up some style and tricks.
Yes. Then both were experimented on and cloud suffered from mako poisoning. They broke out and fled to midgar. Zack took care of cloud while he was messed up from the mako poisoning and he was shot dead by troops outside of midgar. Cloud was still basically catatonic so the soldiers left him to die. The game picked up a while after that.
Yeah from my understanding, Zack tried to fight Sephiroth, got beat up, Cloud tried to fight Sephiroth and got stabbed, and then Cloud threw Sephiroth into the life stream.
So many memories of this game, was 7 years old when it came out back in 97. Still my favourite game of all time. Can't believe it's been 20 years, bring on the remake :)
every single scene has to be in the remake every little detail. the humor relief helps the overall depressing world and beautiful story. also the fire dog is named Nanaki by the way lol not red 13 that's the name shinra dog collar has lol
Final Fantasy 7 is so amazing. No game will ever be able to take the top spot from it. Heck, even Square Enix admitted it was the greatest game they ever created. Much love to this classic masterpiece.
The “Sephirot” cloud meet the first half of the game wasn’t seph. It was Jenova, sephirot first shown in 5:22. So it wasnt seph wo killed aeris it was jenova
Will always be the crown jewel of the series. People can bring their VIs and their Xs and their IVs and whatever, but this is Square's Magnum Opus, the greatest of the great and unbeaten in atmosphere, storytelling and design.
And you want ALLLLLLL of this to be included in the REMAKE? Yea, I can see why SE is breaking it down in to multiple parts. This was a cram-jam of story spread across almost 6 to 7 games that spun off FF7 itself.
+Thomas Patterson It also skipped some stuff. All of the Turk stuff, Rufus, Cait Sith being Reeves got two lines, Cid's entire depressing story, Barrets entire depressing story, Red XIII's entire depressing story, Aeris knowing Zac and generally being confused by Cloud, etc.
William Baker Cause's its Square-enix and they capitalize on any profit that can net them the most money. Just think about it, a few years ago the stocks were in the slump. Now ever since the release of the FF 7 remake along with the FF14 retool its been doing much better.
Sad that Zack, one of the greatest heroes of all time dies and gives Cloud the buster sword. If you played Crisis Core, at the end, Cloud says thank you to Zack and that he won't forget, but he totally forgets!
Well...he did not forget, he just didn't remember. Slight difference ;) To truly forget something means it can not be recalled ever, not remembering means it can be recalled, which happened :)
I wish Before Crisis was more readily available, because it does contain some pretty important info about the origins of the original AVALANCHE as well as a couple details missing from the other games that actually matter.
+Zach Ryan the only small thing is that when mentioning the weapons, destroying the towns and cities pretty much WAS defending the planet, because as we all know, humans are the biggest danger to nature... That's probably arguable though.
This is awesome. As a kid, I loved the game, but I'll be damned if I knew all the story or followed it. When I started hearing all the worshiping of the story, I finally realized how amazing it was. Wish I would have realized how good of a story this was as a kid.
I'm really looking forward to the Remake. But that happens and i won't be able to handle it in 4k. Aerith just feels so real and she's best girl by a mile :(
Only The True FF7 will know the EXACT story after going through FF7, crisis core, before crisis, dirge of Cerberus, dirge of Cerberus lost episodes.. The films... And of course reading through hours of SE ff7 plot lines. If one was to explain the entire compilation of ff7 it would defs take about days worth of great detail and character + plot development
In terms of him being a Sephiroth clone.. he has Jenova cells (Mako energy) infused into him. Meaning Sephiroth can recreate himself through Cloud as long as he exists, just as he did in Advent Children. Anyone who has Jenova cells are later inflicted with Geostigma
Legend has it among new Materia that will be available- the final episode and end game+ content you can use both Holy and Meteor ;) Ultima will also have a harder multi-hitter and 'new' spell, Omega - the drawback being it consumes all MP and can occasionally cast as Alpha, a far inferior spell instead... Enemy Skill materia will gain roughly a dozen new abilities, some summons that appeared After FF7 may make it in as well as some classics hurray for Sylph and Carbuncle !
I didn't get it fully when i first played it either. I did get the message though very well. Human being a scar for the planet. Environmentalism, corporations and people excluded from the society's resources..... And i was only 14. You don't have to understand every aspect of the plot since japanese people think a bit different from us.
bananian me either, now I do but trust me it took me years! through multiple play throughs watching reading, this FF is amazing but so many holes in it :/
What you should expand on is where Sephiroth believes Jenova is his birth mother. Many are confused thinking that Lucrecia is Sephiroth's real mother, but she isn't and for a good reason that is really hard to pick up onto understanding. Considering how Hojo was able to use Sephiroth's DNA to make Sephiroth clones out of the citizens of Nibelheim, and it mentions that Jenova also has the ability to make clones out of other organisms also. How this works is that Jenova would kill off the hosts by replacing their chromosomes with her own chromosomes. When Sephiroth was a fetus, he was injected with Jenova cells also. Jenova had a different plan for the fetus: instead of making a clone out of it, she decided to replace Lucrecia's half of the fetus's DNA with her (Jenova's) DNA, thus the mother no longer being Lucrecia, but the mother being Jenova instead. The fetus was stolen "biologically" speaking by Jenova, Jenova having the extraordinary supernatural magical power ability to actually alter DNA coding in others as well as replace their DNA with her own, and even change her own form too. Hojo has always been the father, his DNA was purposely kept intact. The reason why Genesis and Angeal had imminent decay of tissue while they were still alive is because the both of them had all 3 parental DNA types: Hollander's (Genesis's father may have been someone else which makes him and Angeal half brothers, but Hollander is Angeal's biological father), Gillian's and Jenova's. The mixture of three instead of only two led to massive cell division, thus resulting into both of their imminent decay of tissue. Sephiroth didn't suffer decay of tissue like them because he was successfully the son of only two parental figures: Hojo and Jenova, even though he was born from Lucrecia. Lucrecia is not the mother because Jenova replaced Lucrecia's half of the fetus's DNA with that of her own DNA. Lucrecia was only a surrogate in the act of giving birth to Sephiroth, Lucrecia is not his mother, and not a single trace of Lucrecia's DNA resides in Sephiroth, the mother DNA side being 100% replaced and filled in by Jenova's. Thus Lucrecia pretty much had an invisible miscarriage, and the invisible miscarriage led to the coming forth of Jenova's child. Lucrecia gave birth to a child that was not her own, it was Jenova's, which makes Sephiroth half human and half alien (Jenova is not a Cetra, Shinra only thought she was), and because of him being part human and part alien, when the Sephiroth clones were made they only functioned as mindless vegetables or zombies. Jenova clones would function 100% normally because she is completely 100% alien.
No. Cloud did not make up any memories. He only had selective amnesia. He forgot himself being a low rank soldier and also forgot zack as a person. In reality, cloud was only spectating zack in action . If you put everything after those deleted stuffs, cloud assumed himself to be zack in his memories as a first class soldier. And it made more sense to him because he was wearing a 1st class soldier uniform and he has the buster sword.
That’s kind of the point though. It’s funnier to smash it all into a brief video. It’d be even better explained in a 30 minute video, but where’s the humor in that?
@3:34 So wait, I always thought that the Sephiroth that is flying around the whole game and killing people is really just a metaphysical projection of himself that he is making from way back in the north crater. I figured that Clouds interaction with Jenova at Shinra awoke her, allowing herself and Sephiroth to be kinda become one (her physical body, his mind). It is really just Jenova the whole game taking on the guise as Sephiroth? I guess missed this explanation, which means that Jenova is the actual bad guy of the whole game and not Sephiroth (who apparently now only exists in the past stories, never doing anything in the present time of the game until the very end).
The highwind music, aeris' theme, the gold saucer chocobo music and the battle theme got me thinking about the great ol' days. Big ups to the original 7 players that had the 49.99$ 4disc set before the greatest hits version came out. And another thumbs up if you had the Bradley's guidebook too! And good luck for all those who are gonna spend a week trying to re-kill the new and improved ruby/emerald weapons and whichever non-mandatory/side bosses. Because I probably won't do it lol. The side bosses with every new FF just get more and more lengthier to kill. I don't think 20 minutes will be enough anymore without the underwater material for emerald. They gonna need more than that now!
Crisis core *shouldn't* belong in any of this because it kind of just destroys the whole look of the nibelheim incident which messes it up for me. This is all ff7 the game story not some prequel they made for a quick buck besides most of what happens with cloud is explained in ff7.
Angel ff9 is also damn good. Best OST and minigame. After ff7 the most iconic characters and even some very deep thoughts (vivi and freya anyone?). Overall the mainstory was too generic and the game too easy.
Mischu Wischu ff8 had the best card game imo. I Love all ps1 FF's and 10 almost equally. But 7 is my favourite. It was also my first so it got a head start that the others couldnt possibly catch anymore.
@@CJTranceAddiction what are you on about? The gameplay is tottaly different, when your "main" character dies, you loose the game, it's literally a straight line plot most of the time, you can't explore the world in a ship/chocobo, i could go on and on about the differences
Cloud was never a SOLDIER. He was a regular soldier, but SOLDIER (including the ranks) are the elites with magical enhancements and jenova cells injected into them. They only pick the best of the regular soldiers to undergo the SOLDIER program. this is important because the reason Cloud goes through all the crazy memory loss/mixup is because he didn't make the cut to join SOLDIER, but hojo decided to experiment and give him the treatment anyway.
also, a discrepancy in your explanation: jenova doesnt assume the form of sephiroth as you said at 3:34. sephiroth takes what's left of her very mauled remains and stabs mr. prez
I dare you to do this for Xenogears. Hell, I'll even give you a full 10 minutes (X for 10). Guaranteed you couldn't do it without skipping over huge chunks of plot.
I don't remember that part of "Jenovas body being held at shinra, then being reawoken and taking the form of sephiroth" It was held there and all but when do they mention it taking the form of Sephiroth
mistakes: 1-Sephiroth does NOT make a new body for himself. He falls into the mako energy when cloud throws him off the bridge. His original body is the one you see in the bubble in the promised land, where cloud gives the black materia. He then falls down into the northern crater, where you fight him at the end of the game. All other sephiroths seen in the game are not real sephiroth but clones. 2-Jenova does not reawaken nor assumes the form of sephiroth. Instead the man near Aeris' home with tattoo #2 awakens and becomes sephiroth, since he is a sephiroth clone (those black hooded guys) who take on the form of sephiroth. This sephiroth clone breaks into the shinra building and steals jenova's corpse to bring her to the promised land where the reunion will take place and where the failed clone without a tattoo (cloud strife) is the only clone who never transforms into sephiroth yet also the only one who succeeds in bringing the black materia to sephiroth and fulfilling his purpose (yes, cloud is not a hero but a bad guy, although he joins up with the good guys and goes after sephiroth, therefore being called the "traitor")
It's funny watching this now as an adult because my comprehension of the story at 12 years old was so off.
+tgo007 I know right? I couldn't understand a thing of what was going on way back.

@@lastigesoma6126 its more gonnavbe like 2 years. Battle system is alresdy done, lots of assets are already done like the characters, textures, sounds, etc... si theys said it wont be 5 years but more like 2
I remembered the Weapons being the planet's last defense in saving itself, and they attacked the cities with direct access to the Mako/Lifestream... in this video it sounded like their purpose was vague.
This... is actually a very succinct and accurate summary of the story and backstory of FFVII. Well done.

I played this twice as a kid and now I'm just like "waaaah?"
That was great! Thank you. looked like a lot of work.
+striderpsv I personally had to play through the game twice to get all of it. The stuff about about jenova shapeshifting and clones being controlled was confusing.
+Zach Ryan The real MVP's 🙌
+supervegeta101 Yeah I never knew Jenova shapeshifted into Sepheroth and kills the people at Shinra
+Kyizen She did what? I've replayed this games dozens of times and didn't know that 0_0. Haven't seen this video entirely so I didn't know that
cangri1788
Yeah, it's mentioned I believe early disc 2 when Cloud hands over the black materia. Then the Gast videos (along with one or two other moments) in the Inn reveal she's a shapeshifter. You kind of had to put it all together after you realize what's going on with Cloud and the clones
Cloud joined the infantry. not SOLDIER. He couldn't get into SOLDIER, because he was weak.
i was under the impression that shinra was able to be transformed into soldier, so technically not wrong
Still wrong. It's like if I said I joined Delta Force, but really I was only in the army.
+Homemade Soap how is cloud able to fight like a first class soilder though?
Uks notorious pereira two reasons. First, he was around Zack enough to see/pick up on Zack fighting style. Second, high level exposure to Mako/Hojo experimenting on him in the Shinra Manor.
Exactly. And while the experimenting Hojo added Jenova's Cells to Cloud. Cloud was just lucky that Zack saved him so he wouldn't die, turn into a monster (like the creatures in the Makoreactor in Nibelheim) or becomes a mindless crackhead (like the Numbers). Also Zack and Cloud were friends and Cloud admired Zack, so it's no wonder he catched up some style and tricks.
omg...the music...the nostalgia. back when life was amazing.

This doesn't do FFVII justice or the respect this masterpiece deserves! But it's nice to have when you need a rundown, replaying an old game. :)
"They also meet a talking lion-wolf named Red XIII...he rules." Couldn't have said it better myself tbh
didn't Cloud throw Sephiroth into the core while Zack was bleeding out?
yeah but the newer games try to retcon that
5:31 That looks...suspicious. "Oh cloud!" lol
This guy deserves a Nobel Prize for explaining this complicated story
every single scene has to be in the remake every little detail. the humor relief helps the overall depressing world and beautiful story. also the fire dog is named Nanaki by the way lol not red 13 that's the name shinra dog collar has lol
For another time because there's so much that happened after that:
1. On The Way To A Smile,
2. Advent Children, and
3. Dirge of Cerberus.

I always wondered why Red XIII never showed up in KH2 in the pride lands.
aquapyro1 Dude what! That wouldve been so appropriate
Will always be the crown jewel of the series. People can bring their VIs and their Xs and their IVs and whatever, but this is Square's Magnum Opus, the greatest of the great and unbeaten in atmosphere, storytelling and design.
*_“How Many People In This World Do Ya Think Really Understand Themselves?” - Barret Wallace_*
Wallace wisdom
The first part of this video belongs to the Crisis Core psp game which is not being remade.

Sad that Zack, one of the greatest heroes of all time dies and gives Cloud the buster sword. If you played Crisis Core, at the end, Cloud says thank you to Zack and that he won't forget, but he totally forgets!

This is pretty good actually! Considering its in 7 minutes.
+Zach Ryan the only small thing is that when mentioning the weapons, destroying the towns and cities pretty much WAS defending the planet, because as we all know, humans are the biggest danger to nature... That's probably arguable though.

This was...actually pretty good.

I didn't get it fully when i first played it either. I did get the message though very well. Human being a scar for the planet. Environmentalism, corporations and people excluded from the society's resources..... And i was only 14. You don't have to understand every aspect of the plot since japanese people think a bit different from us.
It's best to play Crisis Core, it's straight forward and explains what happened to Zack, Aerith, Tifa, Sephiroth & Cloud going into FF7.
bananian me either, now I do but trust me it took me years! through multiple play throughs watching reading, this FF is amazing but so many holes in it :/
Nobody really does. Hell most people didn't even know the bad guy was dead the entire game until the end.
This is so many different kinds of awesome! Well done
And it made more sense to him because he was wearing a 1st class soldier uniform and he has the buster sword.
low rank infantryman i mean not even a soldier
Also: "Motorcycle chase."
lol, awesome.
I think the story was too complex for 7 minutes. Maybe 14 next time?
The Lack of Crisis Core Store in this angers me, seeing as Crisis Core basically sets up all of FFVII
Crisis core *shouldn't* belong in any of this because it kind of just destroys the whole look of the nibelheim incident which messes it up for me. This is all ff7 the game story not some prequel they made for a quick buck besides most of what happens with cloud is explained in ff7.
yeah and Zack was a much better hero than Cloud.
Crisis Core basically serves as a prequel..

the ff13 story is explained way easier ingame than 7. the game is mostly hated because of its crappy gameplay.
+Tyronne Jackson I never finished 7 so wouldn't know haha
@@Ty_Jac But the gameplay is pretty much like every other FF just faster paced.
They only pick the best of the regular soldiers to undergo the SOLDIER program.
this is important because the reason Cloud goes through all the crazy memory loss/mixup is because he didn't make the cut to join SOLDIER, but hojo decided to experiment and give him the treatment anyway.
also, a discrepancy in your explanation: jenova doesnt assume the form of sephiroth as you said at 3:34. sephiroth takes what's left of her very mauled remains and stabs mr. prez

Genesis sux.
ouch
naah.
The story is about Final Fantasy 7 not about a particular character. The story of the FF7 is alot more vast than this video.
ikr? I really wanted to know more about Genesis.
mistakes:
1-Sephiroth does NOT make a new body for himself.
Very cool vid! You should do one for Final Fantasy IV!
