Lots of truth here for those who can and will take a chance on a different life. I spent 10 years visiting hospitals and assisted-living homes with my two therapy dogs. Logged visits with more than 30,000 people, many at the brink of the end, and they are candid and open up to you. What do people regret? What they never did, could have done, wish they had done. Too many leave this world with dreams, not with memories.

The wifey and I truly enjoy tagging along with you kids on your boat and looking over your shoulders as you enjoy life. At 73 and 62 with physical limitations it would be a bit tough to ride through those storms at sea. However having served in the USCG and been in both a nasty hurricane and later a typhoon on cutters I would love to bounce around out there again,,,,maybe a little less violent but the ride is magnificent. Oh and I'd prefer a hammock if possible for those "rolly" anchorages. MikeC

I'm on the same path. Left corporate job, sold it all, sailing in the Caribbean now. I must say however only after a year in the Caribbean, I am sick of the heat, the lack of services, and believe it or not, white sandy beaches and palm trees. This off grid living takes a special person or couple. It looks like so much fun on RUclips, but it you are a person who enjoyed unlimited internet, streaming Netflix or Amazon, A/C, long hot showers, full night of sleep, this lifestyle is going to get old quick. I think I will add a disclaimer on my next RUclips episode. LOL. Great Episode as usual. Thanks for sharing.

I applaud and loath the release of a new video from you guys as I pretty much cry at the waste of my life it seems while watching … I feel like I have hit rock bottom but have so much dependent on me getting up every morning to the mundane monotony that is my life currently … You two are amazing and I dream of my 'retirement' on my sailboat alone adrift at sea and that seems like the only thing that keeps me going, well my young girls of coarse are the reason as well that I am not adrift at sea at the moment as well... Great content, keep it going forever, but I want to see a school on "How to live at sea for life!" in the future! TYLY

Being able to quit a 9-5 has restrictions that in some cases are out of our control. Like health issues. Aside from that, it's a matter of planning, money, and learning to live life in a whole different way than what we are used to. Oddly enough....my "happy place" is in the ocean or in the Sky. In our situation, I can fly and still be close enough to medical needs, but it requires I work for our health benefits. You guys are truly living the dream many of us have. And part of the reason I sought you out was because you never know what the future holds. Perhaps one day things might change, and I will always remember and keep everything you guys have passed on to us as one of my favorite options.

The boat dream is still on the list though. Through sharing your decision and amazing vids more and more people are realizing that there really is more to life. We are self employed - have way less spare cash and still have a mortgage - but do what we love and get to live in an amazing community and with a white sandy beach at the bottom of the garden (yard)! This is great that you two have the nerves to take risk. Most of us professionals are always concerned about the "coins" we make. We know that time is a constant variable and it is always moving forward. If there was an emergency, is there a plan? Sorry to be so intrusive. However, I think your lifestyle is healthy but as an engineer, I calculating the expense. Also, the beautiful CAT you are on cost. Can you help the general audience with cost breakdown. Godspeed to you and wishing you the best mate. Thanks for sharing your dream with the rest of us chickens who worries about tomorrow. It's interesting, as a Christian, we are taught over and over that God provides our needs. I have seen God love for me but I guess we still like to take total control of our life but in the end, we control nothing ... Take care and thanks again. If you need a deckhand, I'm free while I'm in between jobs. .... Nothing in life is permanent, but God's love 😉
If you take me up on my offer, I'll pick up my dive gear from Asia and come see you ...

Having children and raise a family is one of the great things in life. How will your mix look like. Even all the paradise places you come to now is starting to look the same. What is your next step?

Haven't watched the video yet but having children is not the greatest thing for some. For some couples, probably same for Ben and Ash, being together is already great and they probably don't feel any missing piece (a child) in their life and they probably decided to stay child free.
They probably retired with enough passive income so that they will never need to go back to "normal 9 to 5".
These are my assumptions and I agree it would be nice to hear their thoughts on this.

Here's a fear of mine anchoring in deep water and not being able to retrieve the anchor.. What to do? i would need to have something capable of cutting the chain. Please let me know if you have thoughts on this let me know.. for ex you mention anchoring in 45m !

usually, anchor chains are attached to the boat by rope. one point for this is, it can easily be cut with a knife if needs must. if you dont wanna let go of your anchor, and if windlass has a capstan, you can easily support it manually or with the help of the other capstans on board; if the anchor is not stuck down there, just the length of chain too heavy for the windlass, all you need is a rope and the ability to dive (Apnoe)) down at least a couple of meters: dive down, fix the rope to the chain (knot or carabiner), bring the other end on board. now it is a matter of capstan or arm power to support the windlass. of course, you can improvise a pulley set by tying off one end of the rope to the boat and threading in through the carabiner down where you fixed it on the anchor chain, bring the other end up on board and pull there. you can multiply these pulleys (I assume you are familiar with the system). however, if you have scuba on board, you cannot just dive down to free a stuck anchor, but Lifting heavy objects is just routine procedures: dive down as far as is safe, attach a lifting device (bag, canister...), fill it with air - if it does not lift the whole anchor + chain, it at least supports the windlass enough to do so.

A keeper video for sure. Be sure to thank all the 9 to 5s or you would have no one selling food, making yachts etc... if you talk them all into going back to what life truly is all about, should be all about :-)
