The city’s arctic location doesn’t make it depressing at all the way you emphasize it. There’s so many remote arctic places that are beautiful and some of the best places to live
16:00 sad that you didn't film how that building looks inside. It isn't complitely abandoned. Out of 341 apartments, 30 are still occupied. Locals call it the Kitaiskaya Stena (Chinese Wall) and it is the scariest apartment building in Vorkuta. People are living in terrible conditions there.
It was definitely cute and heartwarming seeing the young receptionist's face - as well as him speaking English and you replying in Russia. Both get some practice haha
8:00 Well, they did demolish the abandoned houses in Алыкель (Alykel) near Norilsk when Vaga Bond went there last year, so I'm guessing they would think of doing the same in Vorkuta if the climate improves and there's a potential re-population taking place there.
Yep. That little amount of natural light exposure can't be good for the psyche and circadian rhythm if one were to live there for more than a week or so.
@@thegreatujo that's not a huge problem. When u live north, lack of light ain't not a problem, when u get used to it. But vorkuta as other gulag towns, they have some harsh history and those towns have very limited services.
There is a lot of silly drama with Bald and Bankrupt. He is very popular and would probably help Dave's channel a lot. But, I don't think Dave needs to add other people's drama to his channel. I think Dave should be unique and create his own path. Just my own opinion. @@wrath231
Beware fresh spawns in Vorkuta. Especially when cooking and getting the heat buff in the school gym. However the rooftops of the apartment blocks are good spots to find starter rifles and hunting scopes.
You must be having some Russian roots or lived in Russia for a very long time, Russian Language is one of the hardest languages on Earth to comprehend or learn.
This is good to know. However, I myself have learned phrases and words. During the past year just watching movies, tv shows and the soldiers videos. It also helps that I have a friend who I look forward to meeting once everything is kosher again. It takes a heart to understand and ❤ Russia in this way. If you don't have that, likely it will be hard to understand or sincerely care to 🔥✌
Garbage signs "I m only happy when it rains ... but I am just nostalgic of cold and a lot of snow just 35 years ago. A classic winter was killed by clima here in Slovenia so it s time to move here in Vorkuta.
Mh, I wouldn't love to live there, but the cheap apartments(but I guess that this buildings aren't exactly renovated like in the city center) have a river view? If you would renovate it inside, it would be a very nice vacation home :)
The export oil ban is because the farmers need gasoline. The volume passing through refineries dropped 34% . 50 billion dollar decline in revenue since February 2022.Some refineries will close due to lack of volume passing through. They are not profitable.
As bad as it seems, life must be worse in Norilsk. At least Vorkuta has fresh air and quietness. Norilsk has factories spewing out tonnes of noxious gases into the surrounds. I wouldn't live in Norilsk if you paid me big money. Vorkuta is depressing when the sun doesn't rise, and when it drops to -30 or lower... but I wouldn't mind it for a week in the summer, providing it was free of petty crime, of course.
Hi Dave. I've considered your offer to buy real estate in Vorkuta. Interesting... But I think I'd rather wait. In a few years, an average American will be able to purchase the entire town for the price a 1 bdrm costs today.
Like your videos Dave. And wish you the best of luck. However..... I, personally would feel immoral bringing my USD into Russia. Knowing that a certain percentage will be used to send Buryats to kill and be killed in a tragic and unjust war, uh, sorry... military operation. Everything is cheap over there, including life.
I can see how your life is so shallow and boring. World-traveling RUclipsrs who talk about how travel has changed their lives tend to only discuss superficial topics, no matter which country they visit. It seems we can only watch videos from these action-oriented, introverted travelers.
What relationship does Italy and Russia share where an Italian citizen can go wander around Russia without fear of being detained for being a western spy?
Dave, I can't believe you are using these royalty free beats for your videos man...your content is much better then that and using those played out songs that have been heard 100s of times degrades your content.
You repeat yourself to many time. Somewhere around 5 or 6 minutes, it's the fourth or fifth time you talk about coal mine closing so people left... You have to get to the point faster (my professional editor opinion).

Brilliant Video Once Again from the Legend!! Spasiba
I saw your original video a few years ago when I started taking an interest in Russia
Great videos! Love watching…nostalgic and creepy all in one 👍🏼 - thanks for posting.
what a fantastic video so interesting great presentation bro
Looks better than the UK., when can I go, plenty of places to stay : ) X
I look forward to your new videos so much! Plz dont stop making them
Every cloud has a silver lining. The most depressing thing to me would be the long dark days of winter. 👍👍 video Dave!

Cool story …

Rent must be dirt cheap there. Dave, next time you hit Vorkuta, can you try to talk to more locals about their experience living there?

It's looking better than it did 2 years ago. Karosho Vorkuta 😊
The abandoned buildings like last time are still abandoned.
That purple light randomly through different apartments makes me think Vorkuta is recovering is former glory. 😂
