Haha, a trap for the mum, of course! Been watching a few others dropping eggs to distract the mum which is probably the intended mechanic, but the trap is big brain! Nicely done mate 🍻

Great vid! I do find it funny that they are quick to fix the mum being trapped but there's still loads of mesh holes and other issues that have been in the game since release LOL, please Wildcard, we love ARK but we need more!!
A tip that can help
If you guys don't see a nest but see a high-level baby and a parent you can pick them up and take the parent and baby somewhere safe like a beach (need a Rhinio and maybe another tribemate)
And when you render out the nest can respawn

Great video as always! I wonder if being able to trap the parent to tame the baby is an unintended behaviour that will be patched at some point? It wouldn't make sense (to me) that they would create a rather involved way to tame them using fertilized eggs if being able to just trap the parent close by was also an option.

As someone who only plays survival evolved (Has more mods, content, and my laptop can't run ascended) I really wish wildcard would add the new creatures to both games ;-;

The parent didn’t attack me at all, is it a bug ? I’m not complaining ofc but just curious on why I didn’t attack. I was with a friend and it was attacking at first, I was distracting it while my friend was trying to tame it and it was hostile. After a while my friend got killed by the parent so I hid in the nest and it did not attack again. I was able to tame the baby no problem.
I had that once before, I actually just think the taming process in general is a little glitchy, they patched the trapping the parent to tame strategy but it can still be done in some instances haha!
Mine is at 60% but it won’t start the mini game anymore ..

They did at first but people were still saying it could be tamed with traps, I must admit I haven't tried it since using this method but I would like to assume that they did fix this method XD
Do you have to wear a gillie or something because I've been in a nest for a out 20 minutes and the fuckee isn't doing anything 😂
Ghillie helps to lose abit of aggro range from the parent but honestly I still think they are a little buggy, sometimes the baby doesn't work as intended :(

Trap parent, interact with nest, dance with baby x50 times. Done.
Forget using eggs they do not distract it long enough.
Additionally, don't have the trap too far away. Guessing maybe 10 foundations or so is good. If the parent is too far away, the baby will enter the nest, look at you and mosey on without starting the minigame sequence. The trap also does not need to be solid -- the pathfinding for a nonalarmed parent coming back to the nest after being kited away is old school linear. Will grind up against very basic obstacles.
Cant trap the parent anymore.
That was what they patched after release, I have still trapped it however, just have to do it closer to the nest (unless they made an improvement to the patch in the last week or so) XD

Because it was patched, this taming method can still glitch out in general, sometimes it won't even let you interact with the baby. I have still tamed one this way even after it was patched though.

Well yeah it’s just a guide on how to tame one! I had to go out of town 3 hours after making this video and not back for a couple of days! Would have loved to include it all into one video but sadly time wasn’t on my side and I scarified a lot of sleep just to make this video and my previous one 🤣
