bought the 5.2L V10 S8 for dirt cheap and yet quite low mileage, this thing was an absolute animal. thirsty AF, but let say you knew where your money is going : producing pure sound and speed. and tbh, for as long as you don't go to the dealership, it's not that expensive to fix all things considered, a whole bunch of parts were just rebadged VW items. worst part is timing belt = engine out, the best part is an ECU reprog = 500hp+ like it's nothing, and with twin turboes and some aftermarket part, you got yourself a rocketship that will murder any hellcats you can throw at it while warming up and massaging your butt.
i love how at 2:23 the citroen is struggling at max rpm (probably around 6000) while the audi is just casually keeping the pace and reving around 3000 :D
That Citoren may have had a 3 litre V6 and in its own right would be been powerful and fast. It was the same engine that the Renault racing used. The Audi V8 would have been a monster engine.
and take a look to the details. The audi s8 lose to follow the xm and the s8 is uncontrolled drifts all the time with Quattro AWD, during the XM with only FWD getting away.

The Citroen XM switches between series 1 and series 2, Even we have moment where we see the front, it's a series 1 and next second we see the rear , it's a series 2 ! 1:28 front of series 1 , 1:33 rear of series 2. Looking at it closely at 1:46, it looks to me as if it has series 1 grill and a series 2 name plate in the rear......... The XM that spins out at 1:43 is not the same car we see at 1:57, plus had a quick wash out in the course of these 14 seconds! Check the XM at 2:15, it's left front and rear doors are in much better shape than at 1:47, also wheels cleaner. Then at 2:45, we switch back to a series 2 XM, at the very least one with a series 2 grille with the chevrons in the middle. At 2:52, that's a rear of series1 XM with " CITROEN XM" label on the left. They may very well have had a car with a sr1 grill and sr2 back rear. At 3:19, that's rear of a series 2 where "CITROEN" label is on the left and "XM" label is on the right. At 3:23, we may observe that the Audi had left headlamps repaired during the chase, were in much worse shape a minute ago. Again , the left headlamp of the Audi were fixed between 4:09 and 4:20

Here's some mistakes I can't help but point out thanks to my OCD. 0:41 camera shadow on the passenger front tire of the Mercedes. 0:57 camera used to get the shot at 0:55 is seen underneath the guardrail. 1:20 Audi S8 turns into the Peugeot chase car that he rammed off the road before. 3:03 camera on a tripod used to get the shot at 2:50 is visible on the right-hand side. 4:02 Audi S8 is on their tail despite just being separated. Also, studio lights are reflecting on the man's sunglasses. 4:10 glimpse of the skidplate is visible while mid-air.
Naah, not really. When the brown 6.3 Mercedes reverses out of the parking lot they added some CGI tire smoke (not in this RUclips Clip) and the engine sounds at least from the S8 don't match the real one (it sounds like a racing engine)
The early Citroen XM had the Citroën chevrons badge on the right of the grill as you look at the front of the car, the next generation had them in the centre of the grill.
Yes ,i 've thinked the same thing..the steering wheel is the A8 model ,i have an S8 d2 and it's different...but it's very hard to think they have destroyed a real S8 for this scene,it's more probably they have user an A8 with some detail of the S8 like wheels and logos
Audi’s of that era were made of strong stuff. That was barely a scratch, would’ve taken a lot more to destroy one of those. Plus they also used a replica built from scratch.
Let’s not forget the timeless classic that is the Mercedes W128 chassis S Class sedan also featured at the very beginning of this chase scene. An almost stoic car if there ever was such a thing. The fact that the vehicle used is the film is brown definitely seems fitting. And my guess was on purpose or at least by choice. An homage of sorts to how much the W128 lacked in glitz and glamor, considering it was Mercedes flagship. Fairly certain the W in W128 stood for “Workhouse”. Or should I say “Verkhaursen”? But seriously though. As a production platform, the W128 has a very long (perhaps multiple decades depending on global markets) and impressive history. All while resisting any MAJOR modifications or improvements over its entire production life. Mostly because they simply weren’t needed. Case in point, the W128 has continued to serve the people long after the general public thought they were cool. So long after that most people have completely forgotten they ever existed. Any guesses as to the continued servitude I am referring to? Hint: it’s an odd an somewhat unsuspecting role, considering again that this was once Mercedes flagship luxury sedan (and full size executive coupe) Give up? That lineage of vehicles has continued to operate as taxi cabs all over third AND first world countries all over the globe. Israel being of those countries....for decades and decades those vehicles still remain a viable alternative to all the inferior vehicles that succeed it. It is not uncommon for the diesel variants to achieve many millions of miles of service. Some still on their original engines/internals. Plus, they’re totally capable of accommodating the safe and effective operation of a shoulder fired rocket launcher. Said weaponry can be deployed by any of the numerous passengers the car is designed to carry in its voluminous interior. And if that’s not enough, keep in mind that all of that is made possible in its stock form, the way it rolled off the assembly line and into dealer showrooms. Essentially, the Mercedes W128 S Class is the sedan equivalent of the Toyota HiLux. Yeah, I said it.... Deal with it!
It's actually a W116 (i own one). This particular version was a favourite of the director who owned one himself. This version is the 450SEL 6.9 - super high performance 6.9 litre V8. It was the fastest production sedan in the world when it was new.

I know this is another one of “those” movies where we aren’t supposed to know the contents of the case, but I frequently carry Halliburton Zero, Louis Vuitton, Hartman, and the classic coach makers- but I never have a handcuff! LOL I might have millions of USD and tens of millions of jewelry, and never had a chain. I know a handful of people like me, and they don’t have handcuffs either. We all drive Guards Mercedes and typically have 6-8 Federal officers. Can someone please explain the “handcuff to the case” thing to me?!? Seems like an invitation to cut off my hand- but anyone in the know can pick handcuffs quicker than chopping a hand- and you don’t face the criminal consequences… UNLESS YOU LIVED IN THE 1990’S AND HAD SHARON STONE HELPING YOU GET YOUR BAG CLOSED, YOU MAY NOT EVEN APPRECIATE WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT… BEST!!!
Yes they did compete. Citroen would have had a V6 engine to compete with the Aude V8. Citroen would have superior suspension and amazing Renault sports engine straight from their motor sports line. Audi would have had there amazing V8 engines and Germany engineering while Citroen was all about design. French and British make fantastic cars but are terrible at marketing.

Hydro citroen suspension is usually too soft, it cant turn and handle badly in dynamic ride, they are simple fwd cars, drivetrain was just plain and simple as for example... vw golf. Old citroens had usually obsolete types of suspension, when germans were pushing with it. (Mercedes 190 had 10 link rear suspension over 40 years ago)
