This arc hit right in the gut. They were so young, so hopeful, and so in love. But people change, circumstances change, and sometimes the only route to move forward is apart
A part of me still hopes that Cynthia will get back with Thomas. Their story was just so _simple_ and that’s what made it so beautiful. One of my favorite romances in anime in recent years though.
I unfortunately don’t think they will though. It’s over, and her tossing the toffee box in the River was the final nail. It’s more beautiful and real to have it end the way it did

Me too ... I even screamed at my screen: "NOOOOO, How couldyou?!". But then this was probably the most adult way to handle a sad and broken relationship I have ever seen. What a fantastic Anime!

The third coup snow in london was beatuifully written. People tend to say anime is for children but in this story greaz pretender easily defeats many real action movies and series. Really loved and felt this story
chinese cartoons joke aside, anime is made for all ages. Some anime are made for teenagers, some for children and some like this anime is made more for adults and young adults to enjoy. The story and the setting is not much different from those dramas and action movies that casts real actors/actress, the difference is, this is made with animation. Personally, I prefer animation more as the directors and writers can convey their feelings through the hyperbolic action and expression of the character in animations which is impossible to do and would be extremely cringy if they were to use real people as real cast.
what people did not realised is that Cynthia kept on raising the price in the action as that is what she wanted the painting from Thomas to be worth, a 100 million pounds! Its just so sad that they could not make amends at the end. I guess a tragic story hits the audience more than an actual happy one.
They parted ways as friends and resolved their problems of the past Cynthia avenged Thomas and while a relationship will likely never happen again I dont think they are haunted by their past anymore.
That was my favourite arc , but I kind of ruin it for myself , when I think a pretty big plot hole : how a man with an incredible eye for detail to tell the difference between genuine paintings and forgeries , wouldn't be able to remember the face of the girlfriend (She's a red head some more , even harder to forget) of the important man who helped make him a fortune (Especially when he specifically instructed him to spend less time around her) .... lol ...

Despite everyone seems to pretend to go through life, there's always the genuine aspect at some point in our lives that we really cannot let go of. This is the best arc in the anime, hands down.
It does hit harder than your typical tragic and epic love story, because a lot of people (thankfully) can´t relate to those romances of loss and death. But this one can appeal to everyone. Every one of us loved someone at one point, and if it is when you´re young, likely it won´t end with a happily ever after. Even if it were one sided and your love wasn´t reciprocated, eventually you´ll have to overcome it and forget about that person, splitting paths and telling to yourself "i will love again someday". So beautifull yet so sad
This hit so hard and their story was so short, only lasted a fraction of a couple of episodes. Some series that develop love stories for entire seasons don't even get close to the emotional attachment felt for this one. All about it is just perfect...

Cynthia didn't hold all the ill will against Thomas all those years, she held it against the man who corrupted his artistic vision. Was Thomas in the wrong for choosing money over Cynthia and his dream? I'd argue, yes. But when they both finally got closure after the arc, they split it up amicably, and neither held it against the other. And the song mirrors where Cynthia's mind is here - she can move on completely, with no grudges to hold her back anymore.
I think at the very least, they blamed themselves for the person they've become over the years. Both Cynthia and Thomas compromised with their respective beliefs and thus, couldn't face each other for a long time. Cynthia could have paid off Thomas' debt but she knew that the same money got from fraud is what got Thomas off the rails. In the end, they parted ways since they're already different people since then. Only those small mannerisms like Thomas not looking her in the eye remained.

They still probably better if they moved on. Cynthia is already broken from what she heard from Thomas that she is a burden. Thomas can't forgive himself from what he did to Cynthia and to himself. Moving on is the most painful they have to face.
Idk why people want them to be back together. I feel like it's very realistic and mature for them to make amends and not be in a romantic relationship anymore, instead just being friends. It's refreshing to see people who break up can still be friends in a healthy way with each other.

The amount of effort netflix put into this anime is just amazing. Its srsly a highly underrated anime. Easily one of the top 3 animes for me.

Best case in great pretender, it's just too emotional. After this song plays for second time in the anime it really hits you different.

스토리전개가 자꾸 왔다갔다해서 짜증났지만 오랜만에 정말 재밌게 본 애니메이션이었다. 가끔 효과음에 신경을 안쓴 것 같았지만 OST는 정말 좋았다. 작화도 좋았고 배경미술도 독특했다.

They still probably better if they moved on. Cynthia is already broken from what she heard from Thomas that she is a burden. Thomas can't forgive himself from what he did to Cynthia and to himself. Moving on is the most painful they have to face.

Idk why people want them to be back together. I feel like it's very realistic and mature for them to make amends and not be in a romantic relationship anymore, instead just being friends. It's refreshing to see people who break up can still be friends in a healthy way with each other.
Exactly. Maybe it's the cinema/content people consuming throughout the years that influenced them to think this way. Sometimes it's better to just move on.
