  • L.A. has a major trash problem. Our communities produce too much trash, and landfills are the third highest emitters of methane in the state. As California moves toward zero waste by 2030, we look at the city and state's efforts at solutions and follow the journey of discarded items to learn about what we as consumers can do to be part of the solution.

5:20 WRONG - The single fastest and easiest thing we can do to protect our environment is to reduce CONSUMPTION - not waste.
Do we need to buy a new car every 5 years? Do we eat twice as much as the body needs? Do we really need 40 pairs of shoes?

Yes, exactly. I know many of us heard of the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, but we are focusing too much on the recycling part that we are forgetting about the other 2 Rs when it comes to reducing waste. Reducing the amount of unnecessary items and reusing what we have and recycling as a last resort, or composting (regarding senate bill 1383)

Instead of requiring companies to use renewable packaging, the government will just continue charging us more and more to deal with excess trash.

Interesting that ads before this episode were from a plastic trash bag company and the beef industry.

This is the first time in a long time that I’ve seen a report from the LA Times that doesn’t touch on somebody’s skin color or sexual orientation.

So we separate it for it to go in the same pile at the dump let’s be real. What doesn’t get reused goes in same place.

Why did I see an ad at the beginning of this video? I pay good money not to see these ads.
