it’s so good to be back!
Thank you, to all those who have supported the channel.
I’m excited to start a new season. We'll be camping at some of the favourite spots and I’ll be looking for new ones to add to the list. I’ve also planned some road trips up and down the coast and to more remote area’s further inland.
..But that’s all in the future, right now, I’m just enjoying being back in the wild, sitting by the fire as the sun sets and watching Digger run free.
Digger, was eager to get out of the truck…walks around the suburbs just doesn’t cut it. He get’s very excited when I start loading the camping kit..especially this time, as it’s been so long.
We both ate well..as usual. Digger, had several big pieces of steak, a pork chop and of course, lots of ‘Scooby Snacks’ (homemade jerky)
I had a salami and goats cheese pizza using the cast iron pan and coals from the fire. it turned out much better than last time when I didn't have enough heat, this time I built a fire on top of the lid!..it worked a treat! I washed it down with a few drops of cheap Bordeaux and slept like a baby.
It was cold in the shade but blue skies, a campfire and several layers on the bed kept us plenty warm enough.
I hope you enjoy!
Frank & Digger
P.S. Next week I’m hoping to get to a very special spot but the access track is difficult in good weather and impassable in the wet…we’ll see🤞

Thanks, TJ...glad you could join us! I'm getting ready to head off again tomorrow...once the electric blanket I just ordered arrives! Lol
Welcome back Frank and Sweet Digger 🐕❤ nice to see you both back out in nature .. always enjoy your videos, now it's rug up time with our woolies.. hope to see you both out again soon .. take care 🐕❤
Thanks Margaret, we’re both very happy to be back.
I love seeing Digger roam free and come and go as he pleases…he likes it too! Neither of us are meant for the suburbs! It is very cold atm…that small 12v electric blanket that Digger hogged wasn’t enough…I’m going to the shops today to upgrade to a large 240v blanket…that Digger will probably end up covered in while I shiver in the corner! lol
Welcome back to you both. Walking in the suburbs is never really as inspiring as being in lovely environs. Nothing like a nice gourmet pizza and glass of red to add a little comfort to your winter camp. All the best for the coming adventures.
Thanks Fiona, Walking Digger on a lead is not his favourite thing!..he's a free spirit Lol
Yay, great to see you & Digger back! 🥳
Thank you, it’s great to be back!
Sooooooo good to see you and Digger back!!!! I have missed you. Hope you had a good season in whatever else you were doing but so so so so sooooooo glad you're back.
Thank you! it's good to be back. I won't go away that long again. 😀
Sooo lovely to have you back out again in your happy place, I’ve missed watching you, Digger is looking great & did I notice a new bed throw to keep you cosy cose 😂
Thanks! more coming soon, about to head out again tomorrow
glad digger and you are back
Thanks Amanda, glad to be back!
Hi Frank! You and Digger look so happy to be back in the wild. I see some new additions to the inside of your tent trailer. The bug netting around the bed makes total sense and the corner kitchen counter is a really nice addition. As always, I’m most impressed by your camp fire skills. Doesn’t matter how you build it, it burns nicely. Our summer has been hot and we’ve been camping a ton since the spring time. By the way, that pizza was fire! Welcome back!
Hey! Very happy to be back in our natural environment!
There’s a long ‘to do’ list for the camper. I put the mozzie net up because these campers have a major flaw…big gaps between the tent and the body of the camper! 🤷
The indoor kitchen is ideal for cooking out of the weather…especially first thing in the morning when it’s cold and all I want is a hot coffee.
But next week I’m planning a ‘back to basics’ camp as the site I hope to get to is up a ‘goat track’ and impassable towing a trailer. But the views will be worth it!
@@4X4CA I look forward to seeing your camper upgrades and for next weeks video! Have a great week!!
Gracias por el vídeo.
Me gusta mucho tu forma de hacer overland, y la calidad con la que editas tus vídeos.
Saludos desde Málaga, España.
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the videos. Malaga looks like a beautiful place to live…and much warmer than Oz atm👍
Quality video mate, looking forward to the next.
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
Great to see you back !!
Cheers Steve, its good to be back!
So nice to see you both again!
Thanks, Jill!
Thanks!
That’s very kind of you, TJ. Thank you.
Fantastic
thanks, mate!
Good to see you making vids again mate! 👏
Cheers, Grant! Didn't plan on being away that long Lol
Great to see you and Digger back! Couldn’t Digger find a longer stick to carry?😅😅 Nice relaxing video!
Cheers Chris!
Lol, Since he was a puppy he has always gone for the biggest stick!
Hi! You're late. Welcome back! Great name for the channel.
Thanks! Yes, I’m a little late Lol…back for good now 👍
Welcome back u 2, have missed ya, hope you enjoyed your time away from the utube grind
Lol thanks, Louis. I’m recharged and ready to grow the channel to the next level!
Thanks
Thank you, Louis, thats very kind. This season I am moving from 'just for fun' to try to make a living out of this...do what you love they say!
@4X4CA absolutely, good luck, really enjoy yours and Diggers adventures
Good to see you both back Frank, thought for a while you might have given up on the video's, really glad I was wrong. Have to admit though, it's tough to see you roughing it in the Camper trailer.. Next investment a diesel heater? :)
Hey Steve, I was always coming back, just a matter of when! Yep, a diesel heater is on the to do list. The wind flapping the tent made me think I should have built a hard walled camper! lol
…maybe I could convert the tent trailer??🤔
Do you reckon it would be best to extent the current hard wall up or build walls on the inside?
fridge panels or diy ply panels?
Lots to think about!
@@4X4CA Personally, I would not be inclined to mod the camper, for the length of winters we get here it's not really worth it. If your going to get a diesel heater, I have one of the standalone units and just run it into the awning on mine, kept me plenty warm enough even though the temp dropped to -2 on Monday night. You could take one of your jerry cans out and stand the unit on there and just vent it into the camper. We did a similar thing the other week when demonstrating it to a mate in his caravan, involved a table, a milk crate and some towels to block around the toilet window to get the hot air in there but that was half the fun!
@@stevepratley Whats the standalone unit your using? The main reason for a hard walled camper is not so much the insulation but rather the speed of set up and access inside while on the road or at home...its a pain to set it up just to get at something. insulation from heat, cold and noise would be a luxury bonus. I've had my eye on a Tvan for ages but at $30k plus for used one, there out of range atm...maybe I can grow the channel to the point where hybrid camper companies want me to show case their units!...in the meantime, I'll do it tough! Lol
Cheers, Steve
@@4X4CA sent you an email with a link to a similar unit to mine mate..
@@stevepratley Thanks fore that! I didn't even know there was such a thing. much easier than wiring into the camper and its portable.
Those repairable write-offs might be a better idea than modding mine. might be easier and possibly cheaper to repair one and end up with a better camper...I'll have a look around. Your an ideas man! Cheers!
Thavks for your newest upload. It'd been a while that i had to take the MUX out for a few 'bush' drives into Wallingat Nat park, Myall Lakes Nat park and Bulahdelah state forest (NSW) just to get my ASMR fix in your absence 😂. Master Yoshi
Thank you very much! I was away for quite awhile! lol...time got away from me and life got in the way. I'm back for good now and keen as ever to learn how to make better videos.
Are there any picturesque camping spots in Bulahdelah SF? I'm planning on heading up the coast for a mini road trip at some point.
@@4X4CA For your channel content I would recommend swans crossing campground in Kerewong state forest, Coopernook is nice this time of year with extra rain and tracks to explore. Bulahdelah state forest is an overnight stop and accessed off The Lake's Way. I'd definitely recommend whoota whoota lookout inside Wallingat Nat park (it's opposite the Wallingat state forest and we just leave the dog in the car as everyone else does)... superb views of all the towns surrounding Wallis Lake
Thanks for that! 👍 ...I'll check them out (Swans Crossing, rings a bell)
It's a shame dogs are not allowed in NP's, they are so much more beautiful...whereas SF's can be a bit same, same. SF's do have nice spots if you know where to go...usually somewhere that has a decent amount of elevation to take in the views or access to water, even if it's just a little stream.
Cheers!
Do you think a solo woman would be able to camp with a FF camper. Mmmmmm or im thinking a small poptop instead?? It all looks so amazing ❤
Hi Robyn, The short answer is, yes. They do take a bit of a push as the bed reaches the apex of the lift but the campers come with a hand winch if you find it too heavy to do by hand. So if its a FF you really want, you'll have no problems setting it up.
My two cents- If I had my time again, I would stick with a regular tent until I could afford to get a hybrid, hard walled camper.
The FF campers are a big upgrade from a regular tent but it is still a tent and has all the tent problems.
1. Canvas easily gets mouldy...so you can't just store it away and forget about it.
2. Canvas flaps in the wind, making noise while trying to sleep
3. In strong winds it feels like its going to collapse on top of you.
4. zero insulation from heat, cold and noise
5. big gaps between the tent and the body of the camper (mozzie, spiders etc. some gaps are big enough for a snake to get through!) on my camper anyway, maybe other brands have fixed that problem...its something I've never seen anyone mention in reviews on tent trailers.
My choice would be a 2nd hand hybrid camper...even those with a canvas extension like a Tvan etc. would be great. The bed area is hard walled with a canvas 'living room' area and even a hard floor.
MDC just brought out a model called Forte9+ good price, weight, size etc.
It really depends on your budget and type of camping you like to do.
There is a lot to consider when buying a camper. the market is huge (in Australia...are you in Australia?) so many options that you will be able to find something tailored to your particular needs.
Let me know if you want anymore help 👍
@4X4CA thanks so much for the advice. I'm Australian. I'm also needing to get a prado to tow. I've tented for a while and consided a RRT but im abit old for that now. I'll take a look at hybrids but I noticed they were quiet heavy. Thanks again
@@robynrobyn7070 Prado is a great vehicle…have u considered removing the back seats and sleeping in the back? Gives u a feeling of more security as a solo traveller, plus it has a/c, heater, lights, music! With a roof mounted awning you’ll have weather protection to sit under, cook etc
Jayco outback jpod?
Jayco crosstrak?
Check out your next ‘Caravan & Camping Expo👍
@4X4CA there are sooo many options. Your really inspiring me. Australia is so beautiful. I've not tower before so I'll have to think carefully. I have a dog as well. But I'll keep watching you in the meantime as a new subscriber. X
Probably none of my business but , Where have you been mate?😊
Hey Paul, that’s ok. I had a few things to take care of and time just got away from me.
Привет друзья !!! Рада встречи с Вами ! Очень рада увидеть опять Диггера .❤ Где так долго пропадали ?
Hi Inga, we’re glad to be back! I had some things that needed sorting out…where back for good now👍
