    **ANNOTATIONS AND CORRECTIONS**
    - It's not 100% true that the red and blue color receptors don't overlap but those overlapped areas only occur where green ALSO overlaps. I thought explaining this in the video would make everything to complicated, so I left my explanation a bit oversimplified.
    - One more thing I over-simplified: the definition of extra-spectral colors. There's a lot of debate about what constitutes extra-spectral and I couldn't get much in the way of reliable conclusions on the subject, so for the purposes of this video I'm assuming colors like brown do have a wavelength of around 620nm while colors like magenta do not have a wavelength at all. This is not 100% accurate (in regards to brown) as this depends very much on the shade, but it's like, 80% true enough for the purposes of video game lore... but if there's a physicist in the comments, I'm all ears.
    - Lotuses come in far more colors than the four listed in the video. The four I listed are mostly the ones with the most mythological or cultural significance.

    maybe magenta is more so meant to represent the *absence* of time. Then the teal color of anemo being connected to time works better, since magenta and teal are sort of inverted from each other. Also, magenta is used for the corruption of Dvalin, and that freaky upside down statue. If magenta represents just "absence", then it makes sense being connected to the Abyss faction.

    The Hydro vishaps in enkanomiya were bred to be able to use cryo or electro, but couldnt be bred to use pyro, but if we use the color wheel, their breeding caused them to shift up or down the light spectrum of elements by one spot but couldnt shift them all the way to pyro. Also yellow is not just the traveler golden mode element but also the "color" of "physical" damage which might mean theres more to physical damage than meets the eye.

    HP Lovecraft's popular book "The Colour Out of Space" shows a meteorite falling and emitting "strange colour that is outside of the visible spectrum". Since it's cosmic horror, the readers could imagine whatever colour they wanted. However, when movie adaptations came for this story,all the directors would use Magenta to describe the alien colour using the same logic that ashikai has mentioned.

    I'm so excited to see this topic! The sunsets in Genshin are really ...unique. It kept catching my eye but I didn't know what to make of it...
    I wanted to offer one more clue about the color pink: the in-game material "horsetail" is magenta.
    It's not considered a "local specialty" of Liyue and isn't used for much (only creating fly "bait" for fishing really). Each nation, like the elements, has 7 local specialties. horsetail is *not* one of them.
    Also, when I first started playing the game, picking horsetail in the marsh, a lady NPC commented that the horsetail was supposed to capture the color of the sunset but she has never seen one the color of the sunset. (I can't find the quote but trust me it bothered me at the time. I kept thinking so the sky is unseeable? are NPCs color blind?) Anyway, magenta is connected to the color of the sky (light) and the game KNOWS IT. I don't know what this proves, but I feel vindicated! lol

    In Chinese, magenta is 洋紅色. The "洋" character has a lot of meanings depending on usage and context. Such as: foreign, vast, ocean, onion. "紅" is red and "色" is color.
    Foreign red color
    Vast red color
    Ocean red color
    Onion red color
    The first one makes the most sense.

    • @Psycorde
      @Psycorde Год назад +40

      Onion Archon

    • @whimmeboof
      @whimmeboof Год назад +28

      Adding on..
      The context of the word "洋“ in the term "magenta", might comes from the term 洋人, which refers anyone who travelled across the ocean (海洋). In most case, that is an umbrella term which refers to the white skinned people, westerners aka the North Americans or Europeans.
      Magenta is a colour created by the europeans, and probably brought in by them as well. Someone living back in those days might look at it and goes "Hmm, new color. Let's call it the westerner's red."
      So foreign red colour is the one which makes the most sense under that list of yours.

    • @Iffem
      @Iffem Год назад +6

      funny enough, the "onion red colour" translation also makes sense, since the only kind of onions that we have in genshin are red onions (normal ones irl come in red, white, and yellow, with the usual colour being white)... and red onions are really more close to magenta than red red

    It's weird how Magenta is connected to the sky.
    As one commenter said, horsetails are supposed to capture the color of the sunset yet the NPC has never seen a sunset of that color a.k.a. Magenta.
    The Archaic Stone is partly magenta with the description: "The ore itself has incredible clarity and its colors are dazzling, almost seeming to glow with an inner light that brings out its blue-violet beauty, which is like the distant and lovely sunset sky."
    Everlasting Moonglow is a magenta weapon, "A string of lovely jasper from the deep sea. It shines with a pure radiance like that of the moon (just like the Archaic Stone), and just as ever-distant(distant and lovely sunset sky)."
    Magenta = Moon and Sky = Three Moon Sisters = Istaroth
    The original Padisarahs were magenta, which are closely related to Istaroth.
    (crack connection: magenta = sunset and moon, sunset = setting of sun and rising of moon perhaps further connecting Magenta to Istaroth)
    The Amakumo Fruit, a magenta fruit, in Japanese is directly translated to the "Sky Cloud Grass Fruit".
    Electro also comes in, Purple is closest to Magenta (Time). Lightning is directly correlated to clouds, the sky.
    Naku Weed another slightly magenta plant, "the Naku Weed grows strongly in areas saturated with Electro energy. Due to its great affinity for lightning, it is often used by residents to predict storms".
    Then, we have the Sakura Trees and the Irminsul which have pink/magenta leaves. If we go with Ashikai's theory that the Goddess of Flowers is in-fact the God of Time, then both the archons associated with these trees have a connection with Istaroth. Not to mention that Electro and Dendro are already heavily connected in the first place with Catalyze, dreams, time, memories, being the inverted-color versions of each other, etc.
    Resin is literally shaped like the Moon, a crescent being the fragile resin with a branch of an Irminsul Tree, and Condensed Resin which is a Full Moon with a whole Irminsul Tree.
    Transient Resin is a magenta Resin connected with time, " Pure energy that will dissipate with time. In this, it is similar to all else that is lovely in this world. But seize this opportunity and go make the world a slightly better place, as is fitting for one who dwells within the bounds of "time." "
    Just some connections that I found interesting.

      the 'magenta' transient resin that disappears after due 'time' part was really strong and sells this theory in my book very strongly!!! i love this comment!

      I've always thought of fate as certain future because although small details may change, it records the outcome "written in the stars" rather than uncertainty of future.
      Magenta color described in the vid strikes me more as the uncertainty of future.
      The future thing connected to thousand winds/cyan makes me think of interconnectedness of things and butterfly effect.
      So butterfly effect/anemo/cyan
      Uncertainty/magenta/whatever goddess of flowers is
      Fate/yello/traveler maybe?

    • @ilios-kai-fengari
      @ilios-kai-fengari 8 месяцев назад

      There are 2 colours of slimes, because slimes represent their elements' archons. Not the visions. The 2 slimes are supposed to represent Baal/Ei and Makoto. It wouldn't make sense for there to be yellow vision holders, because Makoto doesn't exist anymore. Plus, she used to be purple, too. But as Ei claimed the throne, she "shaded" into yellow.

  • @spiderdude2099
    @spiderdude2099 Год назад +79

    WAIT!!!!! Ashikai! What if the color “yellow” refers to alchemy/khemia? There’s always been a huge connection between alchemy and gold, especially with albedo as a reference. The white could be indicative of the primordial one or the descenders. The fact that it’s the combination of all the wavelengths could be indicative of the power the traveller will eventually get when they claim all the elements. White is kinda like the light-based version of the avatar from the last air bender. It’s a combo of everything.
    Idk, I just had the connection between knemia and “yellow” and the primordial powers (aka chaos) by the color “white”

    • @capriod
      @capriod Год назад +7

      Considering that the primary goal of alchemy is the creation of gold, I'd say they are wery closely connected. Maybe Naberius (as in the Heart of Naberius) truly was the 8th archon and alchemy used to be their element, or maybe alchemists are trying to recreate them/their divinity with this craft. Also, if cyan is the "time" and magenta is highly likely "absence of time" what would that make yellow/gold?

    • @Eclipse_IV
      @Eclipse_IV Год назад +16

      On the topic of Yellow, it should be noted that electro slimes are yellow sometimes. I have no connection for this, but i thought it was worth taking note of.

    • @capriod
      @capriod Год назад +8

      @@Eclipse_IV you know, after your comment I've kinda thought about it, and well. I also wondered for the longest time, why the second slime is yellow? It doesn't need to be yellow, why not just make another violet big slime with some special markings or something. And well, maybe I am reaching too far, but if you consider it, we haven't seen many other true yellow (not geo-yellowish orange) things in genshin, aside the electro-slime, Albedo's star and ka'enriah's robots. And that's the thing: yellow/golden parts in ruin machines are the energy blocks and glowing "wiring". I am not well versed on Albedo's lore, but that star on his neck can be somewhat of an energy amplifier that helps him function. And if it's true, than yellow must be "energy". That would even line up with the "time" theory, because if cyan is the normal flow of time; and magenta is the frozen time, as in things frosen in time because the atoms are completely devoid of energy (this is what the absolute zero in kelvin is, complete lack of atomic movement) than gold/yellow can be the speed of time. That also would kinda line up with white, as yellow is the second most used color in light depiction only after white. And you know, speed of light, energy and time are kinda closely connected

    Great theory, but if I were to go with the artsy explanation (as an artist) as to why Rhukadavata couldn't recreate the specific shade of purple: Purples can be a really elusive color to mix if you don't use modern synthetic pigments. If you use a classical color palette, made popular during the late 19th century and still used by most painters, you get mostly earthy looking purples. True purples and magentas are just not that common in nature. I'd assume that Rhukadavata just didn't have the right "palette" to recreate the goddess of flowers Padisaras. but that's just my mundane musings

    I ALWAYS LOVE YOUR RAMBLING VIDEOS. I thought I was interesting to point out that humans eyes split what we see between brain half’s.This means that if we look at something from the corner of our eye wille focusing from on what’s right in front of us, we get 1 input of color, if we then look at it with both eyes we get 2 inputs in the same half and because of angels, blue and red can then overlap with our green, resulting in a overload, making a small percentage of us see either infrared or ultraviolet, as pinkish.

    I'd like to point out that colors in a rainbow are a cultural construct. They're a spectrum, so the distinct colors are just how we choose to divide them. For example, indigo is only in the European rainbow because Isaac Newton thought it would be cool if there were 7 colors in the rainbow instead of 6. I don't know which colors constitute a rainbow in Chinese culture, but it could be that those colors perfectly match the 7 elements and that cyan isn't excluded.

Like how Ei while still using Electro can slash to space and reality, Nahida has power of dreams, wind has always been connected to time and with the Weinleza festival Venti showed that might also be able to manipulate time as he showed Razor a vision about his parents, Zhongli and Geo is the most confusing one because if we simply go of Zhongli's burst and stories about Morax he has been throwing meteors and Geo spear at people for a long time but where do those come from? Does he pull them in from outside the firmament manipulating Gravity or does he just create them from thin air ?

    This is mostly just me rambling.
    So we have three colours that don't exist according to Genshin's elements. Cyan, Yellow and Magenta. Cyan is Anaemo, having replaced yellow for some reason. Yellow is the colour of a bunch of effects in genshin like the Inazuma sword draw, Hu Tao's sprint animation, and the twins' original power. It's different from the pure white of what I theorise to be elemental energy without the elemental attunement (which, if visions act like light filters might make some sense) in some way I don't understand yet but is pretty present in game, and then we have magenta, the colour that seems tied to the Goddess of Flowers.
    It makes sense, three colours for three moon sisters and three fates; but phanes split into four shades; and Yellow and Cyan do exist as colours - it's only Magenta that has been completely erased; yet the Goddess of Flowers wasn't erased. Was she recreating something?
    If one of Phanes's four shades was erased from irminsul, having only survived in Enkanomiyan texts, then everywhere else there would only be three. Perhaps that is why in some variants we have a four-tip triquetra in the ruins as opposed to a three-tip triquetra.
    We'd still be missing a color-that-isn't, however, for the third still-remembered moon sister/shade of Phanes.

    Magenta light does technically exist physically! (as in has a real waveform) though it's not a sine wave unlike the other spectral colors (red, yellow etc) and has no one wavelength but instead can be thought of as the superposition of two sine waves (with wavelengths of blue and red)

  • @thegamrpersonguy6077
    @thegamrpersonguy6077 Год назад +1

    You could attempt a breakdown as follows:
    Pyro - Red (Substance; Matter; Existence)
    Hydro - Blue (Space; Expansion)
    Dendro - Green (Time; Information [quantum physics])
    Anemo - Greenish-blue (Time with absence of Space; Resistance; Flow)
    Cryo - Whitish-blue (Absence of space; Constriction; Gravity)
    Electro - Magenta (Space and Substance, without Time; Timelessness; Eternity)
    Geo - Yellow (Time and Substance, without Space; Singularity)
    You could then extrapolate the elemental reactions in a similar fashion:
    Pyro Hydro = Vaporize (Substance fills/displaces Space)
    Pyro Electro = Overload, instant Pyro damage (Overabundance of Substance, without Time)
    Cryo Electro = Superconduct, instant Cryo damage (Providing Substance while unrestricting Space, without Time)
    Dendro Pyro = Burning, Pyro DoT (Substance with Time)
    Dendro Hydro = Bloom (Creation of spacetime)
    Geo P/C/H/E = Crystallize (Pulls incoming components into itself)
    And so on. I particularly like how this explains what the hell's going on with Geo. Then there's Abyss/Forbidden Knowledge which would be represented by Black; this could be mixed with any color to make it "darker", but "light" doesn't understand what that means, tying into how the Abyss is unknowable and maddening.

      This conversation excites me because in Honkai, while there's no explicit explanation about it, there are 3 colours associated with Honkai energy. Cyan/Blue (high concentration), Magenta (medium concentration) and Red (low concentration). I've broken this down based on in game enemies and characters ie.
      Blue - Benares, Ganesh(?), might be misremembering though, but one of those roly enemies
      Magenta - most Honkai zombies
      Red - APHO.
      This is important because in relevance to Genshin this also seems to check out
      Blue/Cyan - Leylines in domains, underground flowers, Dainsleif
      Magenta - the cursed sword from Dragonspine, abyss order chanting, I'll have to look up more
      Red- The petrified tree in Dragonspine, The Sustainers cubes.
      I don't have much to go on ATM, but these are just some observations I've made over time.
