she basically just says to treat your skin as gently as you possibly can, no matter your skin type. avoid things that cause irritation to prevent it, but skin can benefit from trying certain ‘ irritating‘ ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide for blemish prone skin. beta hydroxy acid solution/salicylic acid exfoliant is good for someone with blackheads and blemish prone skin. alpha hydroxy acid product used to exfoliate, or retin-a, (prescription meds) are beneficial for someone with sun damaged skin. these are exceptions to the gentleness rule, but she made the point that if something is bad for sensitive skin, all skin types shouldn’t use it even if you think your skin can handle it
