Hey folks... I watch this channel because I enjoy it and its educational.. I don't understand why people feel the need to leave thumbs down and negative comments.. WT.. ACTUAL.. F..... just mve on to something else and leave us folks that really enjoy this type of content.. BIG UP FOR CORPORALS CORNER... 👍
My father was in the Air Force during Vietnam and loved spam. He was born and raised in the hills of God's Country (Kentucky). When he passed away 10 years ago he was living in Chicago Illinois of all places. The guys he worked with asked me if I would put a can of spam and a six pack of Budweiser in his coffin for them because they used to give him a hard time about the smell at lunch. Every time I see or hear about spam it always reminds me of my good Ole Pop's! Thanks for the video!
I understand why Americans hate Spam. It's an old war relic that was mostly useful for its weight in calories. I grew up in Korea from the 70's to 90's. To me Spam is awesome. It doesn't beat bacon, but it hit the spot. I rarely eat it these days, but it's never off the menu. Thanks for going out there making these videos. I always enjoy your new uploads.
First off, thank you for your service! Second, thanks for all the great vids and the straight shooting no BS attitude. Always enjoy your tips and extensive knowledge. Love the bits of sarcasm. 😂 Thanks for keeping it real! Keep up the great work!
My plan was to get home from Somalia. I am doing the contract thing, the eye in the sky. Now I have to wait for this freaken virus crap to get calm down, so I have to wait until September. My plan was to be home in April. Love your videos Corporal. Watch every one and the new ones as well.
Thanks for all the hard work you do to create these videos for us. I was injured in an industrial accident four years ago and haven’t been able to get back in the woods. I live vicariously through your videos and they give me great comfort. If I could have one wish granted , it would be to be back in the woods for just one more week. Also glad to see that when you left the Marines , they gave your sense of humor back. 🤣 Semper Fi
The efficacy of this setup is you can put the plow point shelter where it's needed in relation to wind direction. Then building a windbreak with a campfire makes it the boss. When I was younger I camped out along some railroad tracks in Washington state with a real hobo named Jack Frey who conjured up a revolting pot of hobo stew. I passed on the stew but spent an interesting time with him teaching me the fine points of picking apples and hitching rides on trains.
From someone who actually buys and eats spam from time to time, you are correct, the inside is the problem,. Cut it very thin so there is less "inside" andd more crispy". It's less bad that way.
Spam 25% less sodium is the best. Forget those other "flavors". Cook up your own bacon as a topping. Add a little maple syrup for even more flavor. Yum!
As a former employee of the telephone company, watching your videos inspired me to buy a roll of pull tape. While I was shopping at Graybar, (telephone equipment supplier) I grabbed a hydraulic puller also. no idea what I will do with them,, but prepared is armed. Thanks for all the stimulating thoughts of the great outdoors.
Trying this in the Australian bush lands as the the virus rolls on, but mate if it wasn't for your outstanding bacon recipe's and bushcraft knowledge I'd be fucked 😂
I have a friend that had daughters that were in the Girl Scouts. They used to make dinners ahead of time. They consisted of foil with ground beef (salt and pepper or what ever floats your boat) shaped into a large, square patty and place on top of a full slice of onion ring. Beside the beef were wedges of potatoes and carrots. (I added several slices of red bell peppers, the smell was incredible. Then the meal was wrapped in the foil and then had several more (5 or 6?) wrapped around the package in alternating directions and flipping it over each time to keep the juices inside. Then throw the packages into the fire, turning frequently until cooked. I don't recall the time required, but I'd imagine 35-40 minutes, or less depending upon the sizes. If camping w/ kids, have them create their own, it's a good project and will give them a feeling of accomplishment when they eat it.
Your videos are actually spiritual for me Corp. I'm serious! When I gotta get grounded during my crazy environment at work, I just watch one of your video and it brings me "home". Thanks!
I just started viewing your channel. I’ll be 73 this year and still enjoy the wanderlust. I’m hoping to get out this summer and use some of your techniques and tips. Keep doing what your doing!
Glad to see your still out making fun, educational videos for the world to see. This Corona virus has everyone freaked out. Good to see it is not stopping you.Ty for sharing
I'm so trained from early on to be scared to leave a pan of bacon fat next to me while I sleep in the woods lol. Hopefully all the bears are hibernating.
That’s it!!! Time to come out with a book. Corporal Chef “Cooking with Bacon” at the bottom “Outstanding”. 🤣👏 Luv the shelters and fires in these videos. Awesome!!!👍🍻
The trick to frying spam is to cut it into fingers and not slabs. Heats through faster and the bacon fat will have an easier time penetrating to the interior. A little Tabasco would help too
Also wanted to add that am really getting into your back catalogue of vlogs and enjoying your shows and think you have a great style and methodology with the constructs especially the black bag bedding etc etc🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wow, One strike with the Mag rod and the fire is lit. Most videos I have seen take two or three strikes. Impressive! I know, I know. It's just a fire but is it a beauty.
The joke is that the condition is called "OCD" which is clever in itself and quite funny to those with a mature sense of humour but what's really just hilarious about it is that if you look closely at the spelling of the acronym, OCD, you can see that the individual letters of the acronym read "O C D". Now, this might go over the average viewer's head as this, THIS, is peak comedy. I doubt anything will ever be as funny as the joke about OCD. Are you ready for this one? So, like I said, the condition is called "OCD" and the letters are "O C D", which means that when Singleton rearranged the letters, well, I don't have to tell you...
Sat drinking beer in the warm watching Corporals corner wishing I was drinking whiskey in the cold out under a tarp. Love your vids keep cranking them out for us.
Life is always better with BACON🥓🥓! Thank you for sharing your skills. I am the Queen of simple and I’m on a budget. Your ideas and builds are great. Keep on doing what you do! I’m a fan
I have to admit I had no faith in the plow point in the rain. That is until I had found a spot that had trees but not in the right spot so I had to make a free standing shelter had just enough room for a plow point and go figure it rained buckets but I did stay dry now I have all kinds of faith in the plow point. Awesome video my friend
Hey, Corporal the acronym of S.P.A.M. (Something Posing As Meat) was introduced as Luncheon Meat to Guam since July 1944 when the US Marines reclaimed the Island of Guam from the Japanese Occupation. You should try Diced Spam mixed with Fired rice but use the 25% Less Salt Spam.
Shawn I’d take one of your meals over any gourmet meal cook by a chief anytime!!!!!👍🤤🤤👍👍 BACON, Cheese, potatoes & Butter & a campfire FK YES !!!! You are the MAN Corporal 😎💪💪
Foil packs are the way to go. You be making me hungry with every episode! Almost as impressed with your cooking as your builds. Try sausage and onion and green pepper or asparagus with two garlic cloves and black pepper. Yum! Although your ribeye steaks are killers. Double yum. The fat is the best part. As for pork belly.....well that speaks for itself. Follow up with a generous couple swigs of Jack.
Hi Corporal, I was wonder if you have ever thought about saving drier lint to take on your camping trips. It's a great firer starter too and it doesn't take up much room in your back pack. I'm still learning much from your video's. ❤
Notice the Corporal always starts the opening scene with the some type of food!! Usually bacon! This is what it's all about! Working your ass off all day long to bring us solid content and at the end is the reward. Corporal you are a class act!! When I grow up someday I want to be just like you man!!
hey corporal! long time watcher first time commenter. Just wanted to say i appreciate your videos so much. Every time I watch one i learn something new, or I learn a new way to do something that I've been doing in the past for a while. so thank you and keep up the awesome content!!
There’s nothing better than spam cooked with rice and an egg. And if you like ketchup (which I do), put a dollop of that on there. Mmm mmm! Loved this video.
That's not a camp, that's a homestead!😁 For a cutting board I use the top of a disposable carryout container (but not Styrofoam). If it's recyclable, you can use it for the weekend, give it a quick wash, and recycle it as usual. Reuse recyclable materials whenever possible. Plastics are also easier to sanitize than wood, as wood absorbs juices and bacteria which are then difficult to clean out of the fibers.
Fantastic video on all counts, but my favorite was watching a Marine talk about how gross the spam was, despite a solid effort to improve it, and eat it anyway… ‘cause sustenance.
The sounds of frogs in the back ground were fantastic. So soothing. You must be a Roman Centurion reincarnated, the way you build up a reflector wall reminiscent of a fort. And I love the OCD behavior in lining up the potatoes!
They say and apple a day keeps the doctor away but for me a potato a day keeps doctor away. Try for desert fry apples with butter and brown sugar and few sprinkles if cinnamon cook til tender then and spoon biscuits over and bake a few minutes. Then enjoy .
Hey Corp I had laugh when you were eating that Spam it seems we ground pounders are all the same the world over eat spam....tastes like shit.....eat more spam... tastes like the arse of a dead camel continues to eat spam 😂😂😂😂😂 so many memories
CC, again a great video and you show how really simple it is to enjoy the outdoors thanks. Regarding the tarp, was the switch from the USGI poncho to the Arcturus emergency tarp due to the reflective properties?
I used to eat and love fried SPAM sandwiches w/ just mayo and cheese. I feel the need to buy a can, if there are any left on the shelves. Damn flu floating around
Came across one of your videos and I'm hooked!! Love the outdoors and so I camp ALOT. I get a kick out learning new was to make shelter. And oh yeah you must be messed up in the head if you do not like bacon and beans. Bacon is human treats!
For summer months your camp is good and fun, but for a moose hunt camp in Alaska at -10 degrees below zero, you want a lean-to with a long fire and a lot of firewood. Awesome Corporal Kelly!! Only thing I think I would of added with the potatoes and onions would of been a few sliced jalapeños. That’s just the Mexican side in me. Thank you sir for another awesome video!!
Also thanks for shouting our her channel I went to it loved some of her hacks and think its awesome you did that for her channel I love helping the underdog channels
My wife's comment about your hobo meal - He needs carrots - vitamin A, beta-carotene. My comment - Needs Jalapeños with mmbranes removed, cut into strips. We're really very pushy😁

Lathon it’s not made for kids or it would not have comments and stuff
I see your using my Ranger Grip 78. I keep it in my pocket every where i go. Hard knife to beat. And works great for pulling bank line super tight.

This made my eyes water.
this is my kind of social distancing 😃
No joke
Yes, a good instructional video.
Mine works too. I used woodprix plans and made it without any problems.

Did anyone else want to cry too when Shawn missed the pan and the bacon fell on the ground?
First off, thank you for your service! Second, thanks for all the great vids and the straight shooting no BS attitude. Always enjoy your tips and extensive knowledge. Love the bits of sarcasm. 😂 Thanks for keeping it real! Keep up the great work!
Bacon is meat candy.
This setup makes a lot of sense. As a student of tarpology I like this one.
My plan was to get home from Somalia. I am doing the contract thing, the eye in the sky. Now I have to wait for this freaken virus crap to get calm down, so I have to wait until September. My plan was to be home in April. Love your videos Corporal. Watch every one and the new ones as well.

I am certain you know that old Marine Corps story: I said to myself, "smile, it could be worse", so I smiled, and sure enough, it got worse!
Ah, the holy trinity of bushcraft videos: Build a thing, burn a thing, cook a thing.
Ha
I am a visual learner, and the way you show how you are tying knots up close is awesome.

Way to go with the Black Rifle Coffee, Its an ARMY thing!!
Spam 25% less sodium is the best. Forget those other "flavors". Cook up your own bacon as a topping. Add a little maple syrup for even more flavor. Yum!
First time I added maple syrup to my spam... I was mind blown O_o
Opened up a whole new world of spam possibilities!
I have some Spam stocked up. It never spoils, and when you are really really hungry it is something to eat!!
This is my new favorite channel. I would love to see a multiple day camp trip from a survival point of view. Keep the videos coming
ive been camping over 30 years and i usually still find somethings new from your vids. and, youre not a half bad cook ;) glad to have you in my corner

The fire wall & free standing shelter were Outstanding in the woods, as was the Hobo Dinner. We'll leave the Spam for dog Treats. TAKE CARE...
I never get tired of watching reruns ! That look on your face when you took that first bite of the spam lol...
I have a friend that had daughters that were in the Girl Scouts. They used to make dinners ahead of time. Frying Spam hack: smaller pieces, MRE cheese spread and crackers, optional onions if you had any left.
I just started viewing your channel. I’ll be 73 this year and still enjoy the wanderlust. I’m hoping to get out this summer and use some of your techniques and tips.

I would buy that

Great shelter video as always.
That 3 type potato with bacon and cheese looks amazing.
Its good to know other people have a CDO problem, it's like OCD but the letters are in alphabetical order lol
The joke is that the condition is called "OCD" which is clever in itself and quite funny to those with a mature sense of humour but what's really just hilarious about it is that if you look closely at the spelling of the acronym, OCD, you can see that the individual letters of the acronym read "O C D". I've watched this video 3 times in 1 week. About to head out and make this exact shelter tomorrow. 16⁰F. Let's get it
Sat drinking beer in the warm watching Corporals corner wishing I was drinking whiskey in the cold out under a tarp.
Love your vids keep cranking them out for us.
Should have smothered in cheese too. A fried egg, fried spam and cheese sammich.. what all southern boys need. Lol

I just want to say ty for all your videos. They are super informational and really cool AF.
Haha was the "3 cheese bacon potatoes" in the title that hooked me in straight away :-), another great vid CC thanks for sharing.
.....' bacon grease coursing through my veins'..... pure poetry man. Classic!

It's always helpful and enjoyable to go back and look at some of the older overnighters.
Shawn I’d take one of your meals over any gourmet meal cook by a chief anytime!!!!!👍🤤🤤👍👍
BACON, Cheese, potatoes & Butter & a campfire FK YES !!!!
You are the MAN Corporal 😎💪💪
I appreciate the stuff you explain and demonstrate in each video but the food I 100% love. Makes my mouth water every time.

9:55 in, all I could think was... "We need more cow bell!!!" Very nice hatchet btw 👍
The sheer look of indignation while eating the spam... Jumpin' on that grenade so we don't have to. You the man!
That Hobo meal is so tasty, you have Sasquatch calling out for sharing the meal at 22:10 : )
There’s nothing better than spam cooked with rice and an egg. And if you like ketchup (which I do), put a dollop of that on there. Mmm mmm! Loved this video.
The thing about cooking spam is slice it thin, fry until crispy sprinkle a little brown sugar on it and if the dog won't eat it toss into the trash.
🤣
That's not a camp, that's a homestead!😁 For a cutting board I use the top of a disposable carryout container (but not Styrofoam). Ot just cut a long in the woods to use as a cutting board and then when you're done burn the log.
@@appalachianoutdoorsman5721 Totally sound idea for a long-term camp. I hike a lot, so that's what came to mind. 👍
The spam with bacon needs to be sliced thin. Fried crispy and then made into BLTs. Add ranch dressing for a real treat.
Fantastic video on all counts, but my favorite was watching a Marine talk about how gross the spam was, despite a solid effort to improve it, and eat it anyway… ‘cause sustenance.
Never a fan of plowpoint. Until now. Great mods with bipod. I like that you show the meals as well.
Love the Green Acres reference at the beginning! Keep up the great work.
"Honestly, it's not bad--pause--it's just not good". You could have saved the words--your face "said it all". I was laughing for a good 30 seconds.
This guy makes this shit look so easy. This is hard work man!
Hey, Kelly! What's Irish and stays out side all the time?
Paddy O'Furniture .....
Thanks for another fine video
Just got a second and came across this. Can't wait for some spare time to watch.
I love that he's so neat
Always great Cpl, K. This is how we did it and still do it, up here !!
Hey Corp I had laugh when you were eating that Spam it seems we ground pounders are all the same the world over eat spam....tastes like shit.....eat more spam... tastes like the arse of a dead camel continues to eat spam 😂😂😂😂😂 so many memories
The best! Absolutely my favorite show.
It’s probably better to do that tie system all the time because there’s no trip hazards in front of the tent .
I am in FACT prepping my little
forrest excursion to do just this shelter and fired up "HOBO MEAL"!! thx again Corporal!!☆☆☆☆
Camp looks clean and squared away AF!
CC, again a great video and you show how really simple it is to enjoy the outdoors thanks. Regarding the tarp, was the switch from the USGI poncho to the Arcturus emergency tarp due to the reflective properties?
“Black powder” is my go to backpacking coffee.
perhaps a new name for your channel The Bacon Chronicles with The Corporal
Excellent emergency shelter, great meal in aluminum foil! Love your channel, & survival skills.
What knot are you using to tighten the stakes for the walls? Do you have a link to a video where you demonstrate that knot? Great video as always!
Thanks again Corporal
I used to eat and love fried SPAM sandwiches w/ just mayo and cheese. I feel the need to buy a can, if there are any left on the shelves. Damn flu floating around
You said hobo style cooking?! That's like gourmet level stuff man! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Came across one of your videos and I'm hooked!! Love the outdoors and so I camp ALOT. I get a kick out learning new was to make shelter. And oh yeah you must be messed up in the head if you do not like bacon and beans. Bacon is human treats!
This channel has it all, cooking, humour, gear reviews and knowledge. Keep it up sir, Thanks
Follow for more recipes.
Corporal Bacon 🥓🥓
For summer months your camp is good and fun, but for a moose hunt camp in Alaska at -10 degrees below zero, you want a lean-to with a long fire and a lot of firewood. I enjoyed your video; it brought me back fond a fond memory. No, I didn't get the moose, but he did get away, which I love too. Thanks for your video which brought back a distant memory.
22:25 You can hear Something howling out there.
Hey Corporal! Have to admit that grub of yours looked totally wicked! I could feel my arteries start to clog up just lookin' at it.
Amen
The best thing since bacon wrapped bacon
Most important question, the couple pieces of bacon that hit the ground while being cut......back in the pan to be consumed or discarded to the wilderness????? Chose wisely. Great videos 👍👍👍👍🥓🥓🥓🥓
LOL!!! I noticed that too!! Was mumbling to myself, "You missed a couple ... hey .... grab those bacons ... GRAB 'EM!!!"
Never waste bacon its sacrilegious hahaha
You know Corporal kelly snuck those pieces of bacon back into the pan off camera. 😆 i would have.
10 second rule 😋
Only thing that is better than bacon is more bacon lol
Wish I had found your channel when I was still serving my army days
Awesome Corporal Kelly!! Only thing I think I would of added with the potatoes and onions would of been a few sliced jalapeños. That’s just the Mexican side in me. Thank you sir for another awesome video!!
I feel ya Corporal. I've never liked spam...but that loaded baked potato hobo meal...outstanding!👍👍
3%er eh? Outstanding!
