I am sixty one and have a two year old Patterdale Terrier called Lu, who comes from hunting parents but has absolutely no killing instinct - thanks be! My favourite cousin Patty [seventy three] has the frequent care of her son's Norfolk Terrier, called Indie. Lu and Indie met for the first time only in February [2023] and it was a riot. Both behaved as if they had known each other since pups. Indie is also quite young. Quite turned the front room into a race track! Terriers are the best if they have a home that gives them the confidence to be themselves, which comes from some cast iron rules and subtle ways to sanction naughtiness. Indie is very much loyal to her owner's mother, which is not really surprising, and Lu took to my cousin within seconds as well. She is not always so easy to charm, but it was instant love. Terriers recognise doggy people with un-erring accuracy. If your [kindly] terrier does not like someone [and that in Lu's case is shown by simply ignoring them, not aggression] you might do well to suspect that the person in question is not quite as nice as they might appear on the surface. That's not a Yorkie, Norwich Terriers also come in that colouring.
