Gaeta’s Ultimate Guide: From Tiella Pizza to Split Mountain Thrills | Local Aromas

Here's the ultimate guide to Gaeta, a picturesque coastal town in Italy's Lazio region, situated halfway between Rome and Naples. Valeria and Benedetta embarked on a mission to taste the local specialty, a delicious stuffed pizza called "tiella".
Before indulging in this local delight, we explored the Sanctuary of the Split Mountain, where legend has it the mountain split in two at the moment of Christ's death. We also couldn't resist visiting the mesmerizing blue waters of the Cave of the Turk.
Our journey then took us to Antico Forno Giordano, a historic bakery that has been around since 1890, where we finally tasted the traditional tiella. We tried the typical 4 fillings: octopus, escarole, onion, and zucchini.
