Notice how he spent more time praising others than talking about himself. A class act all the way.
Mark is a great guy. He's got great passion when he speaks, and is just likable.
An incredible person and example of a humble and extremely amazingly talented person.
I heard Francis Ford Coppola and Oliver Stone mentioning him saying “Why Cant all actors be like Mark Hamill, no ego, no complaining, does a great job no matter how bad the script and listens to the director!”
@@AngelicusImmortus If Mark never complained on The Guyver I would be surprised and amazed at the same time.
Yes. He is a truely great man. Humble and Straight forward.
I havn't been so speechless since Force awakens :D
Ouch! What a zinger from Mark! :)
That was the funniest thing ever. 😂😂😂
Yeah...he's quite the Joker....😉
that one killed me xD
Savage
Having watched both Harrison Ford's and George Lucas' speeches from this occasion, it's amazing how much more eloquent Mr. Hamill is. Really a class act.
While he was really nervous. He was shaking
They just do not care. Ford never liked star wars and for him Mark is a just a guy he worked for years ago, total one trick pony who voiced some cartoons.
@@jakubmike5657 Sadly, that's how it came across
Jakub Mike Harrison has severe social anxiety. Watch any of his interviews and he’s the exact same.
He is used to panels at star wars conventions.
I freaking love this guy, long overdue, a real man of the people of you ask me.
Mark Hamill is an American treasure.
an Earth treasure.
Galaxy treasure
IcedEarth426
A M E N ...
a universe treasure
He is our treasure
As humble as a Jedi... Congratulations Mark
Thanks
Mark is so likable. Even though he did not like the direction his character went in The Last Jedi, His acting was still Awesome in that movie, maybe the best part of that movie. That's a professional.
rorrante All he said was that he didn't like that his character died.
Despite not liking the script, I'm glad it was him playing the character and not someone else.
@@coleeckerman1390 no, he didn't like that Luke cut himself off from the force and basically gave up, he said that wasn't his Luke. He also probably didn't like the fact they had him trying to kill his nephew and basically creating Kylo Ren. Dying wasn't his issue, since he was to be a Kenobi like character in the trilogy it came with the territory.
@@ElliottTrout Very right.
Poop Trashbucket He now says that he agrees with what happened to his character and Rian Johnson was right
Congratulations, Mark. You deserved this star for a long time.
yes he did...I thought he already had it
Exactly! Said same thing.
"HAAAAAAAHAAAHAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
What a Joker..
Strange that he did not smile afterwards.
@@thomasfink2385 Pretty much like Joaquim Phoenix did therefore.
That’s what I thought 😂😂😂
From Jedi to Joker and back again The Mark Hamill Biography
A person you can't hate. I love this guy. A humble chap who played the most popular character in star wars history
The real question is why did it take 30+ years for Mark Hamill to get his star?
You have to pay for those things and typically require getting your agent/manager to pay for it.
Also I’m sure there’s a long line and he prolly had to wait for some of the old guys to die off to get a spot.
Ain’t that the truth!!! Way long overdue!
Sci-fi historically hasn't been valued as much as other generas
Well obviously he hadn’t done ANYTHING noteworthy until the sequel trilogy came out
Mark Hamill is such a charming guy, may you live a long healthy life.
I 'met' Mark on the screen in 1977, when I was 6 years old. It was an amazing movie that has stayed with me, my friends, conversations, debates etc. for now, 40 years. Mark has most definitely given a lot to us with his on-screen personas, and off-screen realism. Much respect to you Mark, and thank you for another world for us to live in:)
I was "9" when I met him in ANH
Well said :')
Same m8, great times! 🥨🍺
Everytime I watch "New Hope" I always admire Mark Hamill great acting skills, to play a shy coy farm boy the way he did really helped balance out the outgoing characters of Han and Leia, not an easy thing to do....
The force is very strong with this one.
Mark: "I'm so lucky!"
Audience: "............"
Mark: "I wanna thank you, the audience!"
Audience: "WOOOOO!!!"
Got to meet him once. Paid way too much money for a picture but it was well worth it. As soon as I stepped in the room, he acted like he'd known me his whole life. If you have the opportunity at some point to meet him, do it. You won't have any regrets.
“I haven’t been this speechless since the Force Awakens” hahaha.. killed it
"I haven't been this speechless since Force Awakens" What a humble an honorable master of humor, pun, sarcasm and wit. I love you and and wish D/LF would reboot 7 and 8 to show us the powerful and true to character Jedi Master we all deserved, expected and needed.
His humility is so incredibly real and endearing. It is a quality that makes someone so famous so personal and someone to praise. From Skywalker to Joker, Thank you Mark Hamill
Couldn't have happened to a better man. You go, Mark!
The speeches of these three really encapsulates their personalities. :D
George: Mark is a character... that can't be written.
Harrison: He........ uh........ is a good.......... friend of mine.
Mark: Thanks to all my brothers and sisters, who had to watch all my bad impersonations and playing muppets, also a huge thank to George Lucas because without him, I wouldn't be here today, and---
And fame never went to his head. That is the highest compliment I have for any successful person. And he's a great artist too.
4:42 Damn, he’s still got it after all these years! I expected his voice to be shot after twenty years of doing the laugh, but he nailed that high pitch like it was nothing!
I'm a bit surprised he didn't have a star before??
That's an absolutely superb speech from Mark Hamill, very humbling indeed. One of the best I've ever heard
That guy has a personalitylevel On pare with Jackie Chan, what a wonderful guy
@@tomgerlach4489 cool opinion
I wish that more of the speakers had used the word love. Mark Hamill is loving and gives it out in buckets. This man kept a billion dollar franchise alive for decades because of his giving and loving nature. He deserves a lot more respect than was given out by his friends this day...just for being a wonderful human being.
Mark's Career is basically like Revan, Jedi turned dark side turned back to light side
This honor is long overdue.
I couldn’t be more happy for him.
This guy is such an inspiration and a positive force of nature, hard to not love this guy. Mark Hamill thank you, good sir, for all the laughs, tears and everything in between. You've made my life so much better for having you in it. May the Force Be with You, good sir. Always.
Mark Hamill is an AMAZING and INSPIRING person. He deserves every ounce of praise and adoration he receives.
Nobody dared dislike this for at least the first 20 days.
Another great film he was in----- Corvette Summer with Annie Potts.
Damn, one of the best acceptance speech ive ever heard. Great man.
Mark is such a great and honest man. Very wise, humble, fun and caring. The mans amazing, he lives the dream we all deeply want,to do the things we love as a child but get paid for it. A true inspiration to all of us. Thank you for bringing hope, laughter and joy to us Mark
I loved Mark Hamill in “Corvette Summer” with Annie Potts. Check it out. He did it right after Star Wars. A fun movie that deserves more attention.
Very humble. He didn't talk about his own success but the ones that made him successful.
Mark Hamill seems the right kind of celebrity. Funny, nice, respectful to the fans and the people who worked with him.
tears come to my eyes every time I hear you, you are clearly one of the best SW fans. Second to only George... anyway's more importantly I love you too. The force will be with you, always!
Mark Hamill, the definition of 'class'.
There would had not been a greater person to be Luke than Mark Hamill. Thank you for being a part of my life.
met him at NYCCC 2016 and his agent and his son was very cool and gave me one out of three auto's for free and he did take some extra time to help make my 9 year old laugh and happy because my youngest son had no idea who he was but as we walked away he said I like him he was a nice guy.....lol and I you watched him last night in ROTJ and he said wow the man with the green light saber and I said yeah. then he said wow how did he get so old lmao I said Isaiah that was filmed way back in the early 80's
Mark is a such a beautiful human being. Please let him live a long life, I can’t bear to lose him
As Iconic as Luke Skywalker is....Hamil is the greatest living Joker we have ever had, yes I think he beats out keith ledger.
Better than Heath by far. Not shitting on dead persons but Heath is a bit overrated, as is Nolans Batman overall .... I take Mark and Arkham Asylum games over the Nolan movies any day
I agree, when you just take in Hamill's work as Joker in the Arkham video games, it is masterful, let alone all the television series versions. Heath was a fine actor, but his portrayal really was just a psycho in makeup; Hamill captured the essence of the Joker.
agreed...mark is the best joker by far
Hmmm...I think he's the best animated Joker. I still think that Ledger was the best live action version though.
He definitely beats Keith but I don't know about Heath. Best voice of the Joker IMHO.
"I haven't been this speecless since Force Awakens" yes indeed. Mark's a nice guy, a smart guy and has some awesome abilities to do great voices. I contine to wIsh him much happiness.
A fine example of humility when reaching the heights of his dreams. What an absolute classy guy. Love Mark Hamill.
A national treasure. No scratch that. A universal intergalactic treasure.
What a great speech, really cool person, and can identify with the "fan" of film making, music, comics, nostalgia, etc. BTW, The Last Jedi was awesome to me and I felt he gave Luke Skywalker an honest and deep last performance, unless he returns as a force ghost! That would be rad. Congrats! Mr. Hamill.
I love this man! So well deserved!! 👏👏👏👏
Congrats Mr. Hamill, a well deserved recognition...its about time!
Mark Hamill is a true Jedi, especially in character
What a gentle soul. Love you Mark, please never change!
You definitely deserve it, love you Mark!
Respect for Mark Hamill. He never forgot his greatest voice work, the Joker.
ALL THE main actors of the film should have gotten the stars at the same time, its a slap in the face to wait till after somone passes to give it, this honor needs to be done wile they are alive and can address it with a speech. May the Forth Be With you. 2023 may 4th.
Remember, Mark, the force will be with you always.
It’s amazing that Al Bundy got a star on the walk of fame before Luke Skywalker. Congratulations Mark... long overdue!
Honestly thought he already had a star. Nonetheless, this was such a fun speech to listen to.
I absolutely love Mark Hamill! Genuinely kind and funny! Truly a great talent and great person!
So humble & sincere!! Well deserved Mark Hamill :D
May the Force be with you, FOREVER!!
An interesting tidbit, Mark was the original "David" in the Eight Is Enough pilot. When Grant Goodeve took over, he did it as an uncanny impression of Mark as David. I don't think Grant gets enough (any?) credit for how good his impression was. It was Mark in a different body.
I vehemently disagree with his politics, but I love the guy and I appreciate his love and passion for the film business and the Star Wars franchise. It’s very heartening to learn after being a lifelong fan my whole life, that the actor who played my favorite hero was also such a huge big fan who really ‘got it’.
This guy is my hero on and off screen, he's awesome and bloody well deserves the love he gets from SW fans
So Mark Hamil Day is one day before my birthday and one day after my son's birthday. That's easy to remember! :)
I’m so happy for mark
He has been my favorite character in the Star Wars universe.
Love Mark Hamill. So humble.
The force is with you Mark...always!
Please Disney let Mark Hamill Direct a Star Wars Film he really I is a one of a few that really understands Star Wars. JJ, Ron Howard , George Lucas, Carri Fisher,Harrison Ford are just amazing talents . George really made history with these wonderful people and Mark Hamill is so deserving of this award Congratulations Mark !!!!!😇🙏❤️🤘😎🤘I think he would be great and even He and George should collaborate on a film . I think it would be amazing.
this can be the first thing Carrie missed since she passed away :(
Wonderful.
Whst a great guy. Congratulations Mark! 💕
Thank You 🙂
"from Jedi to Joker" sounds like an excellent title for a Mark Hamill documentary..it would also tie in with star wars cause they did a doc called "from star wars to star wars: the story of ILM"..
Mark Hamill. Lo Tiene Bien Merecido!!!.
They waited this long to give this man a star? What a legend.
So happy for you
Long over due Mark. We all love - your a National Treasure in our hearts.
What a great entertainer he is.
STILL LUV
MARK 😇👍🏼
ah that joker laugh truly amazing..you deserve that star mark..the batman and starwars fanbases both salute you for you're amazing work
About damn time.
I'm kinda bummed out he didn't mention Carrie once but I still love him nonetheless.
Notice he didn't thank his wife and kids either, just his brothers and sisters; I found that a bit odd.
@@heatherbonin2477 Sometimes Mark gets so into his monologue that he forgets where he started or what he said already. I'm sure he didn't leave them out intentionally.
Love him. I just want to give him a big hug.’
He was one of the best characters into knightfall serie, playing an old badass templar knight, it was really cool to see him. His talent could have been probably used more. I've discovered he did a WWII war movie will try look it. I think people really like him and are thankful to him to have portrayed greatly one of the greatest hero of film history, that wa can see in action in Mandalorian season 2 finale! That's what deserved Mark Hamill, he is a Star in the noble way of it! A star in our heart forever!
I love Mark, Harrison, Carrie, George. They were Star Wars......
Mark is a very good public speaker
Mark Hamill is just a great actor classic and just sweet God bless him
Thank you Mark for everything
A modest, likeable, brilliant guy. Very self-effacing, funny, and admirable in every way.
"I haven't been this speechless since Force Awakens."
Dude, you were in "Slipstream." 😂
Really like Mark Hamill. Humble and grateful.
great guy
The GOAT!! The great one! The Master!! There will NEVER be another!!! He owned his roles!! He became those characters!!! Love you Mark! (And I never say that about actors)
CONGRATULATION TO YOU !!
That laugh, ICONIC
Congratulations Mark H.! Well done master Jedi!
