Yep.... We have the same going on here on Minnesota. My neighbors have stacks of bike frames against our wooden fence and its totally destroying it. Police won't do anything because "they are not causing physical harm" .... Yeah they are... Our fence is totally destroyed. I actually got into a fist fight with one of the sons about 6 years ago. Not going to say i kicked his ass because honestly we kicked eachothers asses. We both came out with a black eye and a split lip. It seemed to stop for awhile after that. Until their mother started having "parties" at 2 am during the week days. We also found out they are smoking meth in the house AND one of their kids is a pedo.. Our block is sandwiched in between 2 elementary school yet he is still there... So yeah the police here are garbage we need to clean house.... I also think thats why i couldn't knock the dude out because he was flying on meth lol.. Not fair at all

Sure, you can say that easily after you've seen the aftermath, but hindsight is 20/20. Spats between neighbors very rarely go this far. Normally, they turn out just to be two very immature people who can't get along and view the police as their private thugs. So, honestly, for 99% of the cases, police rolling their eyes and telling people to get over it, is the appropriate response, believe it or not. So, where do we cross from two idiots who can't act like adults, to one idiot who can't act like an adult and is seriously trying to harm another person . Well, police can't just take a person at their word. If you think that this is bad, wait until you have a police state where you have to prove your innocent as opposed to your accused having to prove you're guilty. Unfortunately, that means some crimes, like this, do have to take time to build. For something to be considered harassment, you have to be able to prove 1) that the behavior is repeated. 2) That the instance will not stop on its own. 3) That it significantly disrupts your life. You also have to keep in mind that the state doesn't just want to throw the book at people. Most people, do knock it off after the cops are called and threatened with citations and even criminal charges. I know I had a serial harasser who did, but once I called the police, that was it. There wouldn't be a reason to prosecute him further. Many don't get that lucky and do require a restraining order. Some, like this lady, never learn! So, it is a case by case too. So a lot of those years was the police looking for that point where she would finally stop.

Alcoholism is someone who has become physically and emotionally dependent on alcohol so if someone quit, went through withdrawal and hasn't drank heavily enough to get to that point again i dont think it makes em an alcoholic anymore. Well, acting like a jerk isn't a criminal offense, and evidence gathering is often difficult in this sort of case. How do you quantify what stalking or harassment is? How do you form a judgement over a years long complicated story? Not to mention one-sided neighbour disputes are rare. There's ussually two sides to a story. I wouldn't blindly trust the account given here either. The story of how it started and got worse was remarkably one-sided, even if the outcome as it escalated made it clear that neighbour who got locked up had some serious issues going on at least.

My father was the neighborhood bully once too. He was horrible to live with and when I was 14 my mom and I ran away from home, ended up in a shelter. What happened after we left, idk, but after some years we found out he had moved out of the house and the neighborhood had a similar block party to celebrate he was gone, guess his terrorizing wasn't limited to our home only.
I feel so bad for the woman’s poor child. The embarrassment of having your mother go to jail. And not being able to do anything about your mother’s behavior.
Or at least mentally ill. She said she was given a mental illness test (or whatever she called it), obviously she passed because she was released instead of packed off to a mental health facility. I do too. So I looked her up after the story ended and the mother was arrested for domestic assault (along with other charges) for assaulting her now 15 year old daughter. Something is wrong with this woman. But, her children's safety comes first and I hope someone steps in and help them.

We went to court to have him evicted. Never heard peep out of him ever again. Sad, so sad.

I saw a family being constantly harassed in their neighborhood by a bigot who lived across the street and the cops said they couldn't do anything about it. Afraid for their lives they had to eventually move. In this case it took 5+ years for this family to get any help from law enforcement.
I cannot fathom how or why a grown woman would ever behave this way. She obviously has some very serious underlying problems. I also can’t believe that after she got her first felony her government employer did not let her go immediately. It took three more felonies and a restraining order for them to fire her. That’s insane.

I went through something similar with a psycho neighbor in Lake Co. Florida. The Sheriff's Dept. refused to do anything about it until the day the guy attacked me with a screwdriver while I was jogging past his house and I defended myself. That day they finally did something. They took ME to jail. 10 grand and a jury trial later I won and I moved. Thanks (for nothing) Lake Co. Sheriff's Office and State Attorney's Office!
Sorry to hear you were victimized twice. I came home last thanksgiving to find a section of fence was missing and the posts. I called the cops they asked if I had any idea where it went. I told them my neighbor was mad because they had their land surveyed and the garden that i told them was mine, is mine. They said they needed to take down their fence. I said it's not your fence. They stole it anyway. But the cops let them keep it so they aided and abetted and are accessory after the fact. By the way she has stolen over $2000.00 worth of plants from me, I don't have a flower bed anymore, so I gave up I'm letting her have her own way and quit mowing my grass. Skag, nothing makes her happy she is still sniveling.

Most people, do knock it off after the cops are called and threatened with citations and even criminal charges. I know I had a serial harasser who did, but once I called the police, that was it. There wouldn't be a reason to prosecute him further. Many don't get that lucky and do require a restraining order. Some, like this lady, never learn! So, it is a case by case too. So a lot of those years was the police looking for that point where she would finally stop.

Well, acting like a jerk isn't a criminal offense, and evidence gathering is often difficult in this sort of case. How do you quantify what stalking or harassment is? How do you form a judgement over a years long complicated story?
Not to mention one-sided neighbour disputes are rare. There's ussually two sides to a story. I wouldn't blindly trust the account given here either. The story of how it started and got worse was remarkably one-sided, even if the outcome as it escalated made it clear that neighbour who got locked up had some serious issues going on at least.

I saw a family being constantly harassed in their neighborhood by a bigot who lived across the street and the cops said they couldn't do anything about it. Afraid for their lives they had to eventually move. In this case it took 5+ years for this family to get any help from law enforcement.
I cannot fathom how or why a grown woman would ever behave this way. She obviously has some very serious underlying problems. I also can’t believe that after she got her first felony her government employer did not let her go immediately. It took three more felonies and a restraining order for them to fire her. That’s insane.

The Sheriff's Dept. refused to do anything about it until the day the guy attacked me with a screwdriver while I was jogging past his house and I defended myself. That day they finally did something. They took ME to jail. 10 grand and a jury trial later I won and I moved. Thanks (for nothing) Lake Co. Sheriff's Office and State Attorney's Office!
Sorry to hear you were victimized twice. I came home last thanksgiving to find a section of fence was missing and the posts. I called the cops they asked if I had any idea where it went. I told them my neighbor was mad because they had their land surveyed and the garden that i told them was mine, is mine. They said they needed to take down their fence. I said it's not your fence. They stole it anyway. But the cops let them keep it so they aided and abetted and are accessory after the fact. By the way she has stolen over $2000.00 worth of plants from me, I don't have a flower bed anymore, so I gave up I'm letting her have her own way and quit mowing my grass. Skag, nothing makes her happy she is still sniveling.
