    Got this emulator going, and damn. Such a major improvement over the EPSXE. Once you get this thing running like in the video, it really is the best Playstation emulator out there that provides more stability to many of these games, upscales to 4K beautifully, and having played some action games I grew up with. it feels like a new lease and reason to go through them. I highly recommend this emulator wholeheartedly and find it to be the best way to re-discover the classics on this console.

    This is the best PS1 emulator right now, and it's still in alpha!
    In less than a year it has caught up with the most popular PS1 emulators in compatibility and arguably surpassed most if not all of them (including Beetle) and its accuracy is among the best, and probably only surpassed by Beetle and Xebra.
    The development is so fast and each new update is so huge that it beggars belief!

    If I may, ETA, I'd like to suggest using or playing around with the PGXP options that are available just below the upscaling and filter options.
    What PGXP does basically, is that it fixes the really weird model/texture warping (subpixel precision) during movement that PSX games are known for. Enabling PGXP makes the games look incredibly better without that odd warping.
    A good game to test this is Tomb Raider, as that one has a lot of warping.

    Tried this out last night with 4K +9X resolution with the geometry fix. It looks really good, perhaps too good. With that resolution it completely removed the pixelation, which the PlayStation is remembered for. But, the geometry fix does take care of most of the polygon wobbling, which is great! Especially for racers like Wipeout and Destruction Derby 2

      @@malikcrim13 Your not weird, pixel art and voxel art are an art form in itself, especially now, I really miss them some times, but retro style games are available in the indie scene. Retro games look very cool. Some games look atrocious with texture filter and anti-alias cause it can look like a blurry mess, not sharp. Some games can look better though, usually with higher texture res and/or screen res. N64 have many bad looking blurry textured games for example, i.e. low texture res combined with texture filter, which looks like a mess. Some DS games look rubbish too even though it has no texture filter function and the reason is that the screen resolution is quite low. In the hands of great developers with no time constraint games can look great on them though. Certain charm to Saturn and PS1 games!

    I recently found this as the author recently posted on Reddit, this has an android app as well which works really well plus it's free.
    One thing that this does really well on android, some PS1 games seem to only support dpad and not analog stick, with epsxe I couldn't use the analogue stick as dpad even when I mapped it, at least the game I played didn't recognise it, this emulator had no issue with that

    So I just tested it and it really is amazing. It's easier to setup than Beetle HW and has all the convenience of something like Dolphin. Also, some games that look broken when upscaled in beetle hw, look fantastic in duckstation.
    It would have been my favorite ps1 emulator right now if not for ONE little problem: input recognition seems to be a little fucked. It doesn't recognize when I hold buttons, R1 L1 square, any of them. It recognizes as if I were tapping them instead of holding. It's not something with my controller since it's been tested with every other emulator under the sun, and this is also happening with keyboard inputs, so I just have no idea what's happening.
    A shame really, it's the only problem I've encountered. I wouldn't mind ditching the beetle for the duck.

    Wow. I've been playing through chrono cross on my retropie with no graphic enhancements but a CRT shader. I've wanted to check out PGXP enhancement for a while so I spun up this emulator and the GUI is very straightforward. The character models are like night and day with pgxp geometry enhancement - the wobbles are gone! Great emulator!

  • @boogaboom
    @boogaboom 3 года назад +3

    I'm so glad this emulator is finally getting more recognition. I switched from Beetle to Duckstation something like 6 months ago and I sure ain't getting back. Great performance and great speed, best of both worlds.
    I personally prefer to play 1x resolution with SSAA and scanlines/CRT shader, feels more accurate to what it's supposed to look.

    • @boogaboom
      @boogaboom 3 года назад

      @Phil yup but it only smoothens the existing picture, whereas increasing resolution allows for greater detail. You'll notice for example that characters face texture appear way more detailed at higher resolution, whereas if you only apply SSAA it only gets blurry. Try for yourself, maybe with Tekken 3.

    EVERYONE: If you're into console emulation, this is the ULTIMATE PS1 emulator. WAY superior to anything out there and really easy to use, for anyone. Everything works to perfection for me. Never have PS1 games looked better and smoother, and ran more stable on PC. I've even activated the polygon precision enhancement and it makes all polygons rock solid. No more jiggling! Like literally never seen before in a PS1 game. Also, some great filtering options will make upscaled textures look naturally beautiful. Would LOVE for these guys to take on PS2 and PS3 emulation as well. GENIUSES. Lastly: Other PS1 emulators made me think my PC wasn't strong enough to emulate PS1 games at 4K, by running slow, stuttering and even freezing. DuckStation perfectly runs every game I want at 4K with 8X MSAA and all the great and practical enhancements turned on. (i7, GTX 1060 6gb, 32Gb RAM). No looking back from here.

    This is the Apple of PSX emulation. Simple, clean, and completely walled off from proper customization with just a handful of upscaling, resolution, and post-processing choices.
    ePSXe is still leagues ahead of this because of the shader plugin options which completely change how games look in a way that a generic supersample can't.

    Here's what you do: copy the memory card file to duckstation's memcard folder and rename it shared_card_1.mcd .
    I highly recommend you use the shared memory card option
