    If you have Windows 10/11 Pro, you can use Hyper-V to try a Virtual Machine. I try Windows 11 Canary and Dev builds in Hyper-V

    Hi! The question about testing free OTHER programs. Some programs give you a free trial for 30 days. Yes, that soft has limited functionality but still usable. After 30 days I uninstall the program, remove folder where it was installed, check the registry branch with software name and remove it. Install that program again and it KNOWS that it was installed before. How to uninstall any soft completely without any traces left. So I can use a 30 day trial once again?

    There might be a "save state" function that will keep the settings for resolution etc before closing it out. Almost every Linux distro lets you run it live from a USB stick without installing, but if you want to try Linux and install apps I'd recommend using this method. I run both windows and Linux so am no stranger to both oses. In fact, my Linux box is a Ryzen 3 3200g because I love the built-in GPU and can't fault it.
    Very good video, I may give this player a go but not for win11 because I saw it was still laggy on it too lol.

      I believe you're correct. Just didn't see anything like that for the Windows 11 VM session. I'm sure there is a persistence setting somewhere

    Scott, is there a way to snapshot a current running install of win10 or win11 to an iso?

    • @AskYourComputerGuy
      @AskYourComputerGuy  4 месяца назад

      To an ISO? Not off the top of my head, but you can absolutely create a system image that will do the same

    Is it still a option to partition the drive so we can run multiple OS's or is that a thing of the past? I remember back in the day with windows 95 i partitioned my drive so i could run win95 and win98 plus linux to try it out. Or can we use the virtual option to try mac os on a win system, i think there was a way long long time ago that you could run mac on windows but it was limited.

      You can absolutely partition your drive in Windows 11. Either use Windows disc manager (ack) or preferably Aomei Partition Assistant free to avoid data loss 👍

    Its actually a bit of a chore to install it in Linux. Many steps. It downloads a .bundle extension file.

      Are you kidding? It's a chore to instal any thing on Linux lmao. Everything needs dependencies and extra packages. This is no different from those.

    So, really this is about testing out software or a new WINDOWS OS because Linux can be run from a USB disk without installing it. I personally don't run Linux this way, I imagine you can install software during that session and test but of course when you shut down and restart, you are back to the original ISO image running so anything you did is gone.
    I do the simple thing of running both Linux and Windows as dual OS because when I run Linux most of the time, I don't need access to Windows. Windows is only for gaming and a rare Microsoft software package I need to run every now and then and since my motherboard is loaded for bear (3 NVMe ports) it's easy enough to where I don't want to run a VM just to go into Linux where I am most of the time and I don't want to do VM for a gaming machine so, dual boot.
