In the 1930's my grandfather would drive my mother up the mountain to see the train. He would put a little chair for her to sit in. I have that chair. Thank you for this very special video. And I love your Big T bracelet. We lost a furbaby back in July 💔
Thank you for always sharing the cutest and most interesting places. I love small towns, back roads, antique shops, and quaint restaurants and coffee shops. Karen, your bracelet is priceless. What a special person your sister must be.
WOW loved that small town with so much history, really enjoyed the general store and the train depot, enjoyed the mayor and Nita talk and explain the history of Saluda... That was a special and beautiful bracelet that your sister got you and I am sure holds a place in your heart❤ sure do enjoy watching all your videos and always look forward to your next one...Thanks for taking us along with you💞💞
Oh wow! What a beautiful small town. I so enjoy it when y’all take us along with y’all to visit these historic places that are pretty much untouched over the years. And the people are so friendly & kind. Times have changed a lot of small towns in our country, but it’s so nice to see that some are still the same. Thank y’all for letting us come along to visit towns like Saluda & others that I’ll never be able to see otherwise. Love & God’s blessings to both of you. 💟✝️💟
Another charming historical town! I’ll bet it’s really pretty in the spring and summer😊 I love the bracelet, Karen! That was so thoughtful of your sister🥰 Blessings 🙏
I remember my mom collecting S&H stamps and she’d fill the booklet up and get so excited 😆. Really nice video. I enjoy when you include the history behind some of the places you visit. God Bless ✝️❤
Great Video Mike and Karen, I'm kinda a railroad nut my father in law spent his whole life working for the railway after Vietnam and passed 3yrs ago we found old pictures from wrecks and derailments that he took pictures of while living in a caboose away from home.👍🇺🇸🙏
Oh my goodness! I think I want to move to Saluda! How friendly those folks are! I'm from Randleman NC and were a small town also and friendly but there are so many people here from other places now that everyone doesn't know everyone else anymore like it used to be when I was growing up back in the 50s. Thanks for the tour! And what a thoughtful gift from your sister, Karen!
Hey ya'll. That bracelet was so nice. Great idea your sister had puttimg my man, Big T on it. ❤😪 Thanks for weathering the elements to bring us this video. Ya'll find the neatest places to visit. How do ya'll find all these places? I love the old country/general stores. Lovely mayor. That old store was great. I loved all the history in it. So glad she is keeping the history with pictures, old stove, old drink machines, and old stories. It was nice of Nita to open the depot for ya'll. It would take hours to go through and read everything in the depot. I love stuff like that. Thanks for sharing. Have fun, be safe, and God Bless. Love you guys.❤❤❤
Love the authentic old timey towns. So many unique items from days gone by. 😮 6 look very cold! 🥶 😊.beautiful bracelet. Pizza looked delicious and yes, get a dessert to go, yum
We love Saluda, and usually eat at Green River BBQ, on our way from Upstate SC, into NC. Their pulled pork and mac n cheese is excellent, as well as their pulled pork, smoked turkey and beef brisket. Love the adventure as always, and we are definitely going to have to venture more in Saluda, after watching! 😊God bless you both, and God bless Saluda. 🙏
I really loved and enjoyed this video so much. I love history so much. I live in NC and never knew this about Saluda. I loved the old stores and especially the train history. My uncle used to have a very old store and I loved going there as a kid. He had a great old fashioned candy counter and he used to have push ups, which is orange sherbert. Thank you so much for sharing all your amazing adventures.
My Grandfather McCurry worked on the Southern Railroad, starting in the early 1900s. I don’t know for sure, but I would bet that he worked on the railroad track there in Saluda.
When my daughter lived in NC she and her neighbors would rent a cabin in the area for Christmas and schedule a train trip to take a rail trip for the grandkids on a special trip…sadly my wife and I were never to accompany them 😔😔😔…but the photos were amazing 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
We visited Saluda in September 2021 and stayed in an Airbnb. The pandemic still had the grill in the store closed, and the Purple Onion had limited hours. We took a back road out of Hendersonville to get there, and that was a wild, crooked ride (I-26 seems to always be under construction). There was a pretty decent BBQ place up around the corner from the main street area, but I just read it's been closed for a while. There's a nice waterfall nearby (Pearsons Falls), but I doubt it would be a good hike in the pouring rain! We went on a drive-about and ended up down in Columbus SC and ate at a placed called The Rural Seed. The food was great!
Another interesting video. Love those rugs, my grandpa used to take old rags and on a loom and he or my Grandma had would weave throw rugs. Very nice for Neta to open up the depot. Smart marketing on her part.
Our son just moved to Maryland. We are in Mississippi so we are just starting traveling east. I love watching your small town videos. I’m just wondering if you have a list somewhere of all the places you have been in TN, NC, VA, etc. I would love to start following in your footsteps! We travel in a 30’ 5th wheel.
The safety run off tracks were definitely a good idea. They need safety run off roads coming down I 40 into Asheville, especially when it’s icy in winter, and a convoy is on your back bumper and at night. I’ve drove in that condition a few times, with ice on the road, especially at night…. 😱
Gotta wonder if Saluda River in SC, flows from Saluda NC. It flows all the way down past Columbia SC. I fished up and down Saluda River as a young boy! 🎣
That lady at the general store sounds like Karen. For a minute, I thought it was her! My brother lives in Saluda, SC. I need to visit this other Saluda in the Carolinas!

Saluda is nice but don't visit on July 7 if you want to park in town.😊
