You are without question one of the best RUclipsrs on my list because of your no-BS videos, not loitering on sponsors or stretching by heaping words. Just concise information. You produce excellent quality work. Great job, man.
MVG you're looking great recently, thanks for years of great content which we don't even need to pay for. I couldn't imagine getting my info on vintage gaming and emulation anywhere else. Clear, concise, and overall informative. Thankyou from all of us and have a merry Christmas
@@ModernVintageGamer and your voice and the way you talk are trustful and keep us interested all the time. Also your knowledge from the inside gives another view about certain things. Keep going and never change your vintage style 😎
You know, I'm just glad that your weight loss has been a healthy type. I hope to continue seeing you for as long as you're willing to provide! Thanks for everything that you do!!
I torched some considerable fat this year as well. Went from >300 lbs down to ~216, and ran my first half marathon. Body fat is at about 11-13% currently (abs and other muscles are definitely visible), so there isn’t much further I can feasibly drop (keeping in mind I’m also 6’3”). Went from wearing 4XL shirts down to just regular XL as well. Definitely been a game changer. As much as I’d enjoyed the video games of my youth, looking at how rapidly I was able to get myself into shape, I kind of wish high-school me had the confidence to get into serious sports (not American Football though, hate that). I’d have probably been a monster. Could probably do competitive cycling though. I’m not exactly a lightweight even now, though I can put out tons of power for long periods of time.
@ It’s been kind of the year for lots of people to get into weight loss. Couple people at work are following suit as well, and joining me on lunch runs.
I definitely recommend mountain biking as a great hobby to stay in shape. Just watch Berm Peak to get ideas for great cheap hard tails. You don't need a $3k FS Enduro bike to get out and have fun.
Thanks! For all the content and the inspiration. Thanks for the reviews of the Shantae series, they are great games and I'm playing these for your recommendation. Happy new year, I wish you the best of the success and all the happy for you and your family
I hit 40 this year and finally got back to the gym, 11 years after a broken back. I'd hoped for some better progress by now but, I confess, my diet hasn't been so super. Didn't expect to get that little nudge in the right direction from a Modern Vintage Gamer video, but there you have it!
I’ve loved how the emulation and decomp stuff has evolved over the past year. Sure, Switch emulation took a huge blow with both Yuzu and Ryujinx being shut down, but it’s crazy how quickly PS4 emulation has taken off this past year (specifically for Bloodborne 😂), and the Xbox One translation layer thing is also pretty cool. Glad your videos are doing better too. I’ve heard that the RUclips game is fickle; sometimes audiences just don’t vibe with particular videos… other times it’s just good old-fashioned _RUclips shenanigans,_ but I want you to know that I always look forward to your videos at 8am Eastern on Monday morning right as I start work
Unfortunately that translation layer has not moved at all since it was announced, I guess the developers have found difficult things to unpack. ShadPS4 on the other hand is like it's going on the highway. 3D games are going ingame or becoming playable in a matter of weeks (Metaphor, Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0) and I guess thanks to x86, it's not demanding at all, people with a GTX 1650 can run PS4 games pretty smoothly.
Your 2DS video single handedly changed the course of my life. It was the first time I played Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask to completion. Long Live MVG! 💪💯
You're my go to breakfast channel! The best way to start my day is with a new MVG video. My favorite videos are the ones that dive into the history of games and hardware; whether it's development history, the cracking history, or somewhere in-between, I appreciate the research you put into those videos. I also think it's a valuable knowledge resource. You even sometimes get modern commentary from developers who worked on the project, and that's such a cool addition. Your videos are great, and I'll be here watching as long as you keep making them.
Glad you are doing well! We are about the same age. So, I feel you on what you are saying. Thanks for all you work I have been enjoying it for many years. I recently starter viewing from the start and can say you have corm a long way! God bless you and your family! I pray you have a great Christmas and New Years!
I'm entering in my 30s and one of the best thing that happend to me in my career was found this channel. There's so much motivation i get from every video and gives me more curiosity about how some projects were developed, what techniques were made to develop something, i also discover that i could make gb games and that there were other libraries to for other consoles to develop in. Hope you get a great year in 2025!!!
Great channel and great update MVG. For sure they'll be an increase in vintage gaming interest from all the vintage replica machines, fpga and emulation systems. Getting actual hardware from the 80s and fixing it up is getting harder and harder. Before, like say the 2000s, you'd get a vintage system and you might have to change a leaking battery or capacitor. But at least you could still find tube monitors and the drives would still work. Now if you find a system you have to change custom parts or out of production parts after doing a lot of troubleshooting and research. Then you'll have to find monitor and drive solutions. Unless your sentimentally attached to a system it's not worth it for most people.
I would neither call it a business or a brand, I'd call it a community =) thats what you created. I find the Recompilation tool to be really interesting but it didnt pick up as much as I'd hoped for. Regardless, the progress in the retro scene was great, more decomps are finishing and more are being started. Heck, even 3Ds emulation is making a return. Which is more important in these times than ever
This is the one channel that I consistently tune in on every monday (and for the occasional wednesday video too!). Thank you for another year MVG! See you in 2025! Cheers!

7:33 that's messed up when you start getting healthier and people ask you if you're ok. It's happened to me.. in America people seem to think overweight is healthier.
Rapid weight loss is a common symptom of many health problems. Of course people are gonna feel empathy and get concerned. Totally natural and good. I lost a ton of weight around 2020, but you couldn't tell because I ramped up my workouts and bulked up to compensate for the fat loss. Never felt better. Only found your content super recently in the last couple months, but went back through your catalogue and loved it. I would say 100% your content is so much better in terms of editing, flow and depth of explanation of what you're covering. You fill a great niche alongside channels like RetroGameMechanicsExplained and ZZAZZ of deep diving coding in games which is super accessible for the non-coding/computer oriented folk like myself. Love YOUR work, keep doing what you're doing
Glad you're doing well and happy you are continuing with youtube next year. Starting to take my health more seriously at 48 here and certain foods are not being brought into the house any longer.
We’re the same age but wow you look so much better 😛. If you do ever leave here, please consider going to Bluesky or something so everyone can still keep up with you!
I really enjoy your technical explanations for how things were/are done in games/systems from a programmers perspective instead of the typical sound bites from other channels. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations on your weight loss journey. I've been doing the same since September and glad that I did. It's a long journey but definitely worth it, I'm still on mine of course. You absolutely look a lot thinner too.
I tried to get here early so hopefully you see this, keep up the fantastic work but remember to take care of yourself and your drive so you don’t get burnt out. We love you MVG!
I also love your impossible port stuff - also anything N64 and Playstation1, absolute love it, and would love to see you do some more deep dives into some of the more innovative and technical stuff from that generation that excites you. Keep up the good work! Merry Christmas and Happy new year buddy

Brother you're killing it! Not just in life but on RUclips as well! You're a staple in this community, I love the thought that I've rubbed elbows with you randomly on the X-S forums, Reddit, and the other usual places over the past twenty years, and you're here in person making content for people still interested in the scene to enjoy.
Cheers to another great year! Take care of yourself and keep up the great work. Your videos are deeply appreciated, for their quality and your expertise.

Thank you for bringing the stories and memories of these games and hardwares back to life. It's not just nostalgia but this is the history of our art and technology and I always love hearing about it.
Seriously love your channel. You asked for suggestion and couldn't resist sharing a few. 1. bits of gaming history. Genre defining games (esp. if you could snag an interview or two). History of game development over the years (size of teams, types of tools, skills required, etc.). 2. Would love a deep diving in to the modern console recreation scene. E.g., are FPGA really more accurate than emulation? 3. Along the lines of impossible ports -- any games where a port was substantially / surprisingly better than the original.
Love you MVG. Thanks for your hard work . I always love listening to your opinions on Spawncast and Nate the Hate too. Have a happy and blessed end of the year and 2025.
Hi, I discovered your YT channel this year and felt amazed by the quality of your work but also by how I was not aware of so many interesting things in "video game history", from industry-changing games to ingenious hardware design... and I really want to thank you for having let me (and many others!) get to know all those incredible things! So please keep talking about hardware (comparison, deep-dive, design etc...) and "milestone events" 🙏! What I also really like about your channel is your awareness (and yet objective approach) of game preservation in general, which is very important (especially if we consider what have changed/disapeared in the last years...), so it would be very cool if you keep us updated 😃 Anyway, congratulations for your amazing work, and thanks again! Wish you the best for next 2025 and happy new year !!!
I really really enjoy the detail your videos go into on the custom firmware and console hacking scene. They are top notch and theres no other comparison from other YTchannels.

Have a wonderful Christmas with the family brother!
Thank you for another year of videos. Happy holidays! 🎊
I love your channel. Your coverage of emulation is awesome and I like when you talk about new exploits for consoles and stuff.
Your videos have been fantastic this year, you do a great service to gaming preservation through them and keep up the great work. Look after yourself and have great Christmas and new year.
We all love you brother. Do what you need to do but we're all here supporting you no matter what.
Looking forward to your content in 2025! Congrats on the weight loss and being healthy!
I really like the style and feel of your videos. When people bring in editors, writers, etc, the feeling changes.
It's not always the death knell, but some of the magic changes.
Appreciate all you do and always want to see more.
Maybe consider some cool shirts or something as a way for people to support the channel.
Also don't forget about updating your description to include your BlueSky
Thank you for the content MVG, retro/vintage videos are always great. Stay safe & happy holidays!
Absolutely appreciate you mate and thankyou for continuing to make content.
Ive learned a lot from your videos and especially love the story telling!
Love this channel and I learn a ton from you! Keep up the priceless work! We retro gamers love our physical media and we appreciate you have the same philosophy in preserving these games! Cheers!
I really enjoy your content, from the old games to the cracking and copy protection stuff, it's so much fun to watch and get to learn loads, merry Christmas and a happy new year!!!!
Não acompanho seus videos com frequência, por falta de tempo, mas pra mim,um dos melhores canais,Feliz Natal e próspero Ano Novo.
Que retorne em 2025 com tudo.
Ive been a fan of your channel and content for awhile now. glad its going well. love hearing about everything PC and gaming related. Thank you so much for all the work you put into your videos. have a great Holiday and New Year. cheers
Thank you for bringing the stories and memories of these games and hardwares back to life. It's not just nostalgia but this is the history of our art and technology and I always love hearing about it.
Been watching for years and love the progress and development MVG has made through the years, love the channel, keep on keeping on :)
Thank you for this fantastic year full of great videos! Looking forward to next year! Take care & happy holidays!
You have one of my favorite channels on youtube. Thanks for all the great videos. Happy Holidays!
Keep it up! Been here since 2016 or so! Always great content, up my alley. I also got healthier in '24. Energy levels way up. Feels great. Congrats!
Love you MVG. Thanks for your hard work . I always love listening to your opinions on Spawncast and Nate the Hate too. Have a happy and blessed end of the year and 2025.
Hi,
I discovered your YT channel this year and felt amazed by the quality of your work but also by how I was not aware of so many interesting things in "video game history", from industry-changing games to ingenious hardware design... and I really want to thank you for having let me (and many others!) get to know all those incredible things!
So please keep talking about hardware (comparison, deep-dive, design etc...) and "milestone events" 🙏!
What I also really like about your channel is your awareness (and yet objective approach) of game preservation in general, which is very important (especially if we consider what have changed/disapeared in the last years...), so it would be very cool if you keep us updated 😃
Anyway, congratulations for your amazing work, and thanks again! Wish you the best for next 2025 and happy new year !!!
I really really enjoy the detail your videos go into on the custom firmware and console hacking scene. They are top notch and theres no other comparison from other YTchannels.
Glad to see your sticking around MVG I quite enjoy your videos hope you have a great holiday and a happy New Year!
Like these end of year wrap ups. Always interested in your thoughts and feelings. Excited for you on the health journey!
Wish you all the continued success and look forward to your content every upload. Seriously, you're one of the best brother!
Your content is incredibly high quality. It takes a lot of knowledge to make deep dives into the topics that you do, always fascinating to listen. I use your channel as a genuine source of technical and historical enrichment - it's a gold mine.
Your videos are a great way to start the week. Your success is well-deserved, as is your need for a break!
All the best for Christmas and new year MVG, love your content been a fan for many years, look forward to your future content!
You’re for sure one of my top ten channels. If I see you’ve got a video up, I’m watching it. Thanks for the years of great videos and insights
Thanks for another great year of content, Dimitris. Your programming expertise and video-making talent set a fantastic standard for professionalism on RUclips, and besides that, I always have a lot of fun watching your videos.
Thank you for making content. It's always been interesting to watch because it isn't the same stuff that everyone else seems to be doing. I hope you have a happy holiday season, and I'll be back for as long as you make content.
I agree, thanks for all the great content this year and very happy to hear that you feel motivated about this again for next year !
Seing a new video from MVG is always a good part of my day.
Have a wonderful holiday and see you next year!
Been watching your videos for Years!
Please keep them coming and I wish you all the best.
I love the coverage of new mods, updates on emulation, and history of cracks and exploits. I especially liked the recent video on the Amiga virus. Anything you release makes for a good watch, so I'm along for the ride as long as you are.
I'm really happy to hear that this has been a good year for you! I've been enjoying your content for years now, and you always deliver rock solid content.
Its been a great year. I've always come and gone between your videos, but every time I watch I always get a new piece of knowledge from them. Thats what I love the most from your stuff. Thank you so much for another great year, Merry Christmas!
Thank you for keeping my interest in this hobby up year after year! When I do feel that it is going down, you release a new video and I buy some new console because of that. You make this hobby fun! 🔥
Your channel is easily in my top 5 favorites. I probably speak for lots of people when I say thanks for all the work you put into your videos.
Love your channel man. I grew up in the late 80s/90s. Big gammer and emulation guy, but never smart enough to understand the coding behind it.Your channel is brill. Heres to a great 2025.
thanks for the content for the last several years. there's always interesting content to find on your channel. wish you all the best and for many more years!
Always a pleasure being around, super hook up to your topics Dimitris. Have great holidays everyone and cheers for a great 2025!
I got into your channel when I was first discovering emulation this year. Your content inspired me down rabbit holes that helped me find a whole new hobby.
