Very mellow great sounding guitar. You do an excellent job of demonstration.
The mids and trebles are just so sweet on these pre-war D-18s. Warm and woody mids with rounded off trebles and a punchy bass makes it a dream D-18 for sure!
Hey Shawn, great playing on a great instrument!! But, what I really want to tell you about is my brand new Jimmy Edmonds Shawn Brock signature model that just arrived today. I'm speechless. I can't believe I get to grow old with such a fine instrument. And I have your signature right in the sound hole! Best

Would be cool if you played an entry level guitar to compare how good these vintage Rolls Royce guitars really are. (for the amateurs like myself)
Man if they send it, I will be glad to play it. I would really like to have some stuff in the lower price range on just to say we did if for no other reason.

Man I was thinking about that on my way up 81, and I wish that I had a couple of hours to spare on the trip, I was going to call you. We ended up leaving, getting there and playing, getting in to the hotel about 2 o’clock, getting up at 8 o’clock and driving straight home. Didn’t even stop to take a leak between Middlesboro and Dinwiddie, that was torture lol.
Hey that’s no problem. We’ll get hooked up one of these days. I understand the rush completely. But….I would have had to have a rest stop break, lol. I’m getting old I think. 😁

Great playing as always! Love seeing the guitars your going to play. I was curious, what song do you play when you capo on B flat? Its the one that starts on the D chord. Love the groove of it!
Thank you very much for the compliment, I really feel like my playing is all over the place lol. The song you are referencing, is an arrangement that I somehow came up with on an old folk song called cuckoo bird.
Next week will be one year since I sent Christine my deposit. So I should be at least halfway!!

25 yrs ago I was hanging out at Southworth Guitars in Bethesda Maryland. Customer comes up to me w a 69 Brazillian Rosewood Martin and asks for my opinion (he liked my playing). I played it for a while and we were both speechless at how that instrument OOZED tone. I told him "it's worth every penny of $4000 (i.e. asking price). He whipped out his check book and bought it.
Man I wish I had bought some of the old Guitars back in the day. I remember the first time I played a very clean and original 37 D-28, and the asking price was $10,000. Man lol when I think of what it would be worth today.
@@ShawnBrockMusic Yep. There's no way I could get anywhere even close to the kind of coinage it takes nowadays. That's why I rolled the dice and spent $850 on a shamelss Chinese copy of a Martin D40 w the gorgeous motherofpearl, abalone vine inlay on the fret board, abalone binding all over the body etc. I was absolutely SHOCKED at how well made this guitar is. The tone is out of this world good - better than any Martin I've played in years. I took it to Washington Music's (Chuck Levin's) legendary guitar repair in Weaton Maryland to have them set the action lower and they were floored. They said they could not believe how precise the copy was all the way down to the nitrocellulose finish - and these guys have worked on guitars for decades. That particular luthier in China had to have tapped one of the legends from Fujigen to show them the ropes. The tone gets better and better and better and better every time I play it. I was a bit uncomfortable with Martin ablazened across the headstock at first but heck, I'll never sell it and even if I did, the first thing I'd do is show the buyer the phony 0000000000000000000000 serial number on it😆so they wouldn't get any ideas about trying to scam anyone.
