I am so out of touch with overwatch league that I didn't even knew that all of these amazing people passed away. They were so young too... I hope their family are doing better now
What made me fall in love with OWL was the first game between Seoul Dynasty and Dallas Fuel and seeing the level of coordination. The map was Temple of Anubis and Dallas was defending point A. They showed a over the top view of the fight and Seoul surrounds Dallas and then sudden collapses of them from all sides obliterating them. It was the first time I've seen that level of coordination. Didn't miss a game after that. And was able to go to the Inaugural Grand Championship in New York with my friends. It was a blast
i remember that like it was yesterday that was the moment i knew owl was gonna be something amazing and to be honest all of season 1 was and still is amazing i quite overwatch but i still go back and watch season one from time to time just cause it was so good

Met so many awesome people too! Went to an Atlanta game too & saw some of my favorite players, & got a picture with Soe & the other casters. Such a good time

The 2017-19 years were by far the best times I had watching an esport, it’s impossible for me to express my full thoughts and feelings I experienced during those years in a RUclips comment, SO many amazing memories from player vlogs, content involving the players, THE MEMES, the Comm checks, streams, the hype storylines, it felt like a tv show with each team having different qualities and the different personalities on each team made every day so exciting and interesting. Man I remember back during S1 becoming a Mayhem fan in part due to the funny walk outs but also just how charismatic the team was especially Cwoosh. Felt like a dream watching the lads make the finals and then winning it all.

This game has opened up so many routes in my life and working directly with Blizzard for a couple of events was some of the best times I've ever had. I watched the league since Season 1 match 1, I remember watching the first Grand Finals on ABC when I still had cable. Life moves fast, sad to see things you love so much turn to dust. Been following the league since day one, and I was fortunate enough that I was able to go to Grand Finals in Toronto this year. While it may not have been the biggest or most intense Grand Finals, it was by far the most emotional. Everyone there kinda knew it was likely to be the last one, but dammit we made the most of it. This Grand Finals felt like one last hurrah, one more trip 'round the sun. Soe's speech summed it up perfectly just how all of us felt. It was a dream and I'm glad I got to be there to witness it. Getting to see one of my all time favourite players turned caster Custa (he even signed my old-school Valiant colour scheme shoe), being able to meet so many people from the Toronto Defiant and the other teams that made it to Finals, and all the amazing people from Discord servers that travelled from all over the world to come support their teams. We've all made lots of friends along the way and I'm glad I got to meet all these amazing people before it has inevitably come to an end. “Surefour’s chilling in spawn” is sooo iconic. Best possible thing that could’ve happened in a seemingly solved meta is to make them rotate away from your spawn and go widow.
One of the moments that always gets to me is when alarm starts talking. I watched him during contenders and how he slapped the other teams and won back to back championships in contenders. He wasn't in the owl for too long but to me and to many other people he was definitely the best support we've ever seen. The stuff he could do as a support was like nothing anyone else could do, not even the new generation supports could do the same. I miss seeing him play and I hope his family is doing well, RIP alarm you will always be missed.

I remember in 2016-17 I was eating out at buffalo wild wings and saw OWL being live streamed on all the TV’s. I was immediately hooked and I found out the name of the game and ever since then it’s been my favorite. I was also young at the time so watching OWL was like the coolest thing ever and it stuck with me. I always dreamed about being apart of OWL one day.
I've been with competitive overwatch since Apex, since the very first day of OWL all the way til the end. I'll never forget it and will always hold it so dear to my heart. Soe's speech really touched me and made me have tears in my eyes. Against all odds, I'm still hoping that maybe it'll continue. Thank you OWL

It's sad to see just how quickly the venue sizes for these events shrunk. From the 2018-2023 finals it had to have quartered in size maybe more. Never have I seen something explode like OW Esports and than burn out just as quickly.
I can't tell if it's BC I'm high or this is really just emotional but I'm crying just bc of the nostalgia, I remember all of these as they were happening and big news at the time

Oh god InternetHulk-still sorely missed-as is the legend that is TotalBiscuit. And that ssegment for Alarm just broke my heart. I've watched OWL since it started through to the end, and even though the higher ups did screw up after screw up-I still enjoyed watching it, and it was an absolute rollercoaster with so many amazing moments and the casting was S Tier from Sideshow and Bren, through to Jake and everyone else. I'll be here waiting for it's return. Until then-thank you OWL for the past 6 years. o7
Was hoping to watch the game where they had like a 40 minute technical delay for a map 4 with the Dallas Fuel. I forgot who was playing, but they had the entire post match discussion with the desk and arrow contest with dollar store arrows because they couldn't play it on Overwatch. Than after all of that, they finally finished the 4th map of the match. Great video though, and loved seeing all the clips.

Second year of University, I had a lot of regrets at the time but playing Overwatch, trying to be the best and having the time of my life wasn't one of them. I will probably never feel that way about a game ever again. This game was my life for almost 2 years and although it is a shell of what it had the potential to become, it is still my favourite game of all time. Watching OWL and trying to be SBB will never be a negative memory haha

@@mr.exquisitecheese7764 well blizzard is offering each team 6 million dollars to opt out since realistically no one is making much of a profit and after the grand finals they made a Tribute video and a speech about and they announced the day after the grand Finals they announced to Revamp Overwatch League so it’s gonna be Overwatch League but in a different form so it’s gonna be OWL still because Overwatch esports but completely different compared to the past 6 years
@@mr.exquisitecheese7764 They're most likely moving to a major and minor tournament model with online leagues like most other E-sports as opposed to the contract and weekly LAN model reminiscent of pro-sports.

Second year of University, I had a lot of regrets at the time but playing Overwatch, trying to be the best and having the time of my life wasn't one of them. I will probably never feel that way about a game ever again. This game was my life for almost 2 years and although it is a shell of what it had the potential to become, it is still my favourite game of all time. Watching OWL and trying to be SBB will never be a negative memory haha

i watched owl for fun, owcs is just muting the stream in the background for drops. it doesn't feel the same, and the players don't seem as good. it's just orisa mauga all the time
