The popular misconception is that Jokic doesn’t care. He does care about basketball...a lot! The big difference is he doesn't see his basketball career as the end-all be-all. There are much more important things to him than just being a great at basketball like being a great husband, a loving father for his baby daughter, being with family, etc.. Coming from a once war-torn Eastern European country, he has a unique humble perspective on life that we don't see anymore in America. We Americans are so used to seeing ego-centric athletes who primarily play for fame, influence, getting endorsements or winning awards. Jokic doesn’t care about any of that. He just loves playing basketball and he's a fierce competitor on the court. He's a breath of fresh air and it just bothers me that some ppl in the media wanna cut him down

Jokic approach is fresh and unique right now so people are buying in, and I get that. However, basketball and sports are fueled by emotion and obsession. Who wasnt motivated by Bird and Magics obsession to beat each other and be champion. Michaels passion was what made him and made us love him. Seeing MJ cry as he held the title with his father behind him. Jokic is a GREAT player and I understand why in this me, me, me social media age people are finding this refreshing. That said, I hope this is a singularity and not a trend moving forward.
