Very nice! It works because there is no defense, only the counter attack. It requires a lot of practice and the confidence that comes with it. The ordinary, untrained response would be
to panic, freeze in place and throw your hands up, exactly what your opponent expects and wants.

Another great video and I look forward to getting this book. In olympic fencing we call this a counter attack and there are many different types of "displacement" of the body. When I learn fencing I found counter attacking to be easier than parrying. One I usually had longer reach and my body was more mobile than most people (thanks to other martial arts training). But the main reason I would rely on counter attacks is that I found it harder to predict what angle he was going to strike to match my blade. This is even more difficult when they use feints. But I know that they're going to attack my body in the end so if I moved my body at the moment they commit to their attack It was easier to evade and then hit them. This probably went on a ramble and its very hard to explain this but I hope you get the idea.

defend on a circle. if you are simply moving sideways, being close enough to attack isnt difficult and you are harder to hit as a moving target. you still do a block of sorts, just for bridging to find the openings.

Flash step is 100% relying on footwork, that's what the term flash step is, depending on how fast you are with it is up to your own ability to do so. "That's what flash step is", relying on your footwork to counter, fight, move, block. This can be used so much more way's then just one, depending on your speed, the faster you'd go.

Then go into detail of this teaching, and make a step that you can call uniquely your own. We always evolve, so seek in the past to find the future, even the future of this technique.
