10:08 Those pictures of the children made me feel deeply sad because I can just imagine someone down on their luck, squatting here having lost everything including being able to visit their children. I can't imagine how hopeless that feels.
I would like to pay you a compliment: I have watched ALL of your videos, and checked 'liked' on each one. When finished, I watched several others who also do abandoned places - both in Canada and USA. I must say yours is the BEST!! You go through each room slowly and capture jist of the room. You do not give verbal details on how you love the wallpaper or a fancy door. You go into the attic, the basement and all outbuildings. Many others do not. Your videos are thorough and professionally done. If RUclips had academy awards, I would nominate your for videos one! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the "Offensive Graffiti" warning. Wouldn't want anybody to have a meltdown from seeing Words on a Wall in an abandoned structure. Next you'll be blurring it out, and eating avocado toast.
Love this. BTW, down here in the south, the constant sound you hear outside is not birds but probably cicadas. It's one of the most soothing summer sounds in the world. When we have a large emergence every 13 to 17 years the sound can make you think you are hearing some kind of machinery and some people think it sounds like a UFO.
Outside looks way better than the inside. This old place is a death trap. Talk about sketchy. I didn't hear anything except those birds or bugs, whatever. Neat old elevator and wood doors and the bathtubs. Glad it will be restored. Agree about the gutting it, they have to. Really sweet explore Brent. Thank you.
Glad you go to these places in a city with someone. Never know what. Crazies squat in those places. Always reminded of the Dan Bell vid where someone was watching him all video thru holes and stuff.
great explore Brent, glad you're enjoying your stay here in The state's, and what an amazing place this hotel must had been in its day, i can picture that main lobby downstairs all decorated during the holiday seasons, ya know ?,,glad though you had Mike with you, definitely not a place to go in alone
You said that someone probably took the numbers off the doors for souvenirs. I bet the real reason is that they were made of brass and taken for scrap value, scrap brass is worth about $2 per pound.
Hard to believe its only been abandoned since 1970. With the decay and damage it looks much older. Really a creepy explore. Thanks Brent and your tour guide for the tour. Stay safe :o)
Careful on them old flat roofs brother. Steel decking is most likely rusted out and with a ton of water weight sitting on top you can easily fall right through.
Wow, Double Wow, for this treasured find.. Wonder if voices, were ghosts? Noticed hotel in Arkansas, was stationed at Fort Chaffee & from watching RUclips, saw there had been a fire there, sad, for was nice base. Yeah plans to restore hotel..
Just an FYI for Brent and Co, when navigating an abandoned building with potentially other people already inside, treat said situation defensively. Don't just walk out into a corridor or step straight into a room. Treat each new funnel point as a threat. Slowly cut out and around corners.
Thank you for the warning!! I will never understand why someone would find it necessary to use such dirty, nasty wall "art"... it says a lot about someone. Be careful Trent.
loved the video Brent, very cool place I've always loved old hotels myself, they were always well built and the detail and craftmanship was always superb. glad your branching out too to go outside of Canada. lots of cool places all over. I'm in Ohio and there are lots of abandon spots here. have a great week man and look forward to the next adventure. :) cheers
Brent, I actually laughed out loud " I'm a high heel guy, I don't wear them but I like them on women". So funny. Would love to see before pics of the hotel, I bet it was a beauty.
I can’t help notice how loud the cicadas are 😳. I’ll bet this historic hotel was opulent in its day. So neat seeing everything left behind. Thank you Brent and Michael for the explore! 😊
Somehow, abandoned hotels and mansions go together.I guess because of the rich history that goes with them .The vibes here are a little spooky, but I'm glad to hear it's being saved and made into something useful, interesting find thanks bret
Even through all the decay and trash I can see the beauty of that building. If I owned it and had the money to fix it up, I wouldn't modernize it, but would restore it to as close to original as possible. As to the vandalism, that's an activity that I will never understand. Why do some feel the "need" to paint, attack and destroy something that can't fight back? Confusing!
This place reminds me of the Wyoming Hotel in Big Spring Tx, where we stayed when we moved to West Texas.....it's gone now. Places like this were built to last, but vandals have trashed the inside....FYI: life has improved for me since 1981, I now live in a 5 year old, 3BED2BATH and a garage door I just know is going to do battle with my Sonata.
Wow.. it got sketchy with the fresh footprints on the stairs. Glad to hear someone will be doing something about this place. I wonder how difficult it was to use one of those hand crank elevators
This was an awesome find I loved it you can tell this property was beautiful in its time beautiful hotel that old elevator was awesome loved going on the tour with you all Happy belated Thanksgiving to you all
Hey. When you were in the creepy old house and was walking to the room with the big bed, it had on the door frame, stamped on the board, july3, 1876. Pretty cool
You'd be surprised what can be restored. Michigan Central Station was just restored, despite being abandoned and in pretty terrible shape. The real issue is whether or not the economy of the area justifies such a large investment. It'd probably be cheaper to tear the building down and build a panelized modern condominium, or do a facadectomy on it and just keep the exterior walls. Being on the National Register doesn't offer any legal standing to a building, so it can still be torn down. However, in the US last year, 50% of all building permits issued were for historic preservation related work, so you never know.
As always fantastic video it amazing how the building is in bad state but very good video thank u for takeing the time to show us the place s u visit take care
I think this is your creepiest explore so far - at least from what I have seen. There is no way I would have done this. You are one brave lad. :o) Thanks Brent. Please stay safe when your going into these places. you never know what's around the corner
Love the content. One suggestion I have, and it's only a suggestion. Is maybe after you finished exploring a particular building, especially a public one, is to show any known photos of the building in it's glory days. Other than that, you're very thoughtful not to disturb the building. Thanks.
Brent I've been binge watching you're channel and enjoying you're video footage but when you and you're tour guide stepped inside that elevator at The Richland Hotel i was totally mortified that was a very dangerous thing to do you just never ever know if them cables are going to let go but on the advice of another explorer who told me never step into any elevator in any abandoned building because you could plummet to you're death 💀 and that always stuck with me and you seem to be a really great guy so be safe.
@@AbandonedUrbexCanada Well am glad you're okay and that place was really run down but I admire you for doing it because I would have given up on the first floor,😆
You should do a video about the old abandoned hotels in downtown Vancouver BC, especially the Giant old landmark hotels on the downtown east side (east Hastings St) and there are so many more and alot of old stories that go along with the buildings! Pleeease I've always wanted to do something like this myself and explore all the old abandoned buildings. Apparently there are strairwells from a few of the original hotels that go down under the city that the Royal family used to travel from different venues without having to be seen. That would be amazing to check out ! Hopefully you decide to check then out, I'd love to check it out!
As Mike mentioned in the video... out of date buildings need better modernizing. The asbestos risks are a big factor when it comes to remodelling, very expensive to remove and dispose of. A large portion of a buget can be spent on that. In reality, it'd be too clostly to save a crumbling structure, greatly cheaper to demolish and build a close copy. Always some shrubbery growing into the roof! 💔🧐
Wow! Excited to see the most handsome explorer here in the states. Are you going to NC? Lots of abandoned mansions in the south. At 26:13 as you were passing a doorway, looks like somebody could have been standing against the wall behind the door?? You wouldn't have got me up on that rooftop not seeing where i was walking. Happy exploring and stay safe Brent.
Wow, very cool video. That was beautiful back in it's day! I looked up the news paper you found--Dewitt Era-Enterprise--still in business! I can't believe that has sat for over 50 years. I know it has decay but it's in pretty phenomenal shape for how long it's been sitting. When you picked up the double photo frame with the two kiddos all I could think was maybe 2 children of an addict, heartbreaking. Oh, and uh---I about filled my drawers when you both went onto that elevator, I think I held my breath until you were both on the other side!! Love, hugs & God Bless you 💕💕
I've used an elevator as shown in your video, both in LONDON ONTARIO CANADA. One of them was in a SIMPSONS store(department store) There was an attendant to run the elevator. The other elevator was in a Treatment Facility (originally a Sanatorium for people (children teens and adults)with T.B. Good idea to work in pairs.👬
So quick little interesting note. Stuttgart is the home of Riceland. The largest exporter of rice in the world. There's no doubt you saw it on your way in. Hi Brent: My son bought that wallet a couple of years ago and he loves it. Loved the high👠heal comment. Very funny. I love how you took you time walking through the rooms. Annoying that the young man you were with wanted to rush through the explore. It was only when you slowed down and pointed things out that he followed your lead. Very cool location. Its likely haunted that gutting the inside would stir up the ghosts and the work would grind to a hault.

Thanks for the "Offensive Graffiti" warning.

@Mel F I heard much much worse in my public school days in the playground decades ago.
So very respectful of the less fortunate. Well done mate.
Great video. So eerie being abandoned for so long. You scared the crap out of me when you both got on the elevator. So dangerous!! Love your channel👍
Great to hear that someone will be restoring this unique heritage building with interesting history. Thanks for sharing
Love this. BTW, down here in the south, the constant sound you hear outside is not birds but probably cicadas. It's one of the most soothing summer sounds in the world. Oh 🤣 I seen a bunch of birds in the tree next to the hotel. I’m just a tourist 🤣 Thank you!
We have them here in Maryland, I'll never call them "soothing" 😖. To each their own I guess! 👍
We have them in Missouri too and I hate them!
I agree, the soothing sound of summer--I know a lot of people find them annoying but I love the sound! Hi from Indiana.
Whenever I hear cicadas I think a plague is coming
I can't believe you guys weren't wearing steel toed work boots in that mess Brent. Looks like a cool old place to restore 👍🏼

Imagining the past there in Arkansas. Thanks for taking us there in present time. What a mess now, but must have been fabulous way back in those days.

8:07 Those are Cicadas... Not birds.
Thanks for the correction

Bones are great just needs to be gutted
I love watching your videos and think it's cool when you come to the US..
Thanks Robert! I’ll be back in the US 👍🏻

The profanity on the walls, some of it is sickening and blows my mind people are still like that 🤯🤯🤯🤯
A bit worn down sadly, but must have been a very nice hotel back in the days.

NM they repurposed it
