STORY
Step into the sun-soaked countryside of southern France and behold a house that conceals a mesmerizing tale. Once belonging to David and Marie Louise, a passionate French couple, this captivating abode carries a story interwoven with enchantment and antiquities.
Marie Louise, inheriting the house from her grape-growing ancestors, encountered a turning point when she met David. Their shared obsession with collecting and trading antiques breathed life into the walls of their home, each item holding a tale from times long past.
Yet, in 1997, David's chapter came to a close, leaving behind a legacy of precious belongings that ignited Marie Louise's fervor. The house transformed into a labyrinth of captivating artifacts, each piece bearing the weight of memories and emotions.
As the years passed, family visits became more complex as disputes over the division of belongings arose, causing fractures in the once-harmonious bond. In 2006, Marie Louise's spirit departed, leaving behind a legend of the most endearing grandmother.
Venture with us on a journey of exploration as we unravel the extraordinary tales of David and Marie Louise. Delve into the heart of southern France and discover the allure of antiquities that once filled this house. Witness the passion that transcended time and feel the magic that still lingers within these storied walls.

#abandoned #explore #exploring Развлечения
I like that you take an interest in the people who inhabited these abandoned places. It distinguishes you from other explorers of abandoned houses because the respect you show for them, their lives and their memories is always present.
This is exactly why he is one of my favorite explorers! 😎
Hi Lesley, I have a friend living in France, I was talking to her about abandoned homes in France, she said Inheritance Tax is so exorbitant, that remaining family members choose to leave homes abandoned rather than paying the tax.
You have quite a heart and tender spirit for these people and homes! You definitely are very passionate about these explorer episodes. I love all the information collected on this episode as it hasn't been but 2 decades! Love the details you share. I can visualize her, her life and what it was like to visit her ..you teleport me there every episode! You truly have a gift Lesley!😊
Lesley is my favorite...he does his homework and shares his love and respect for all of the families and homes he shares with us!❤😅😊
So sad to see so many Antiques decaying, and the music was beautiful, but I have to admit, there's a fine line between antiquing and hoarding. You were great and tender as always.
Also a fine line between exploring and trespassing.
It's true, that there is so much you cannot possibly see it all. It's hard to see how she moved in the house without bumping into her things. Although there are some lovely things. But I think when she shut the store it cost too much for storage for that much. Storage fees go into the thousands in about 10 years. Another great video. And thank you for being such a kind host. You are so respectful and this world needs more like you. You are a joy in personality and integrity. 🌷
The round pans with long handles that you often see are not ash collectors, they are actually bed warmers, they were filled with embers and placed between blankets to warm the beds of the upper class that inhabit the homes!! Love to watch your respectful investigations!
Hello, Lesley! I really liked this interesting emotional story! So many beautiful antiques you always present with great care! I love the paintings and the family photos; family meant everything to Marie and it helped her cope with the loss of her dear husband!
Thank you for this great episode!
My dad bought a house before him and mama married in 1967. He was the only owner, and now my sister (54) lives there. Sadly he passed from Alzheimer’s 10 years ago. Lots and lots of memories. Shag carpeting as far as the eye could see ( my sister has since put in hardwood) I never thought of it as “back in time” I mean no disrespect, it just sounds odd for me with some describing words. It really isn’t that long ago, but I suppose the reason is Abandonment ( an abandoned home )💜I love your channel , so I’m not trying to be rude 💜
You did such a magical testimony on her home/life…me dealing with stage 4 colon cancer… I want to get my treasures under control. Thank you for honoring her things and kitty photos. Extra Thank you for calling her dolls… baby dolls and not creepy…they meant much to her. Thank you for treating this women’s home with respect!
Hello how are you doing today
my grand ma did the same thing back in the 1950's , with her dolls . She also had Quilting parties . the hooks were on the ceiling .
Hello Leslie from Dayton Ohio! Thank you for making another wonderful video. I love love love old house and their old contents. As much as I love seeing these I am equally sad that these people’s memories seem to be lost forever , as if they never existed. Those photos broke my heart . I do not have any family, other than my children, and my husband, but if I did I would cherish their photos and pass them down.
Excellent documentary, Lesley! ❤ It is so sad to hear that the family is fighting over it. Loved the beautiful items inside this beauty. Thank you for showing it to us.
Trop bien la vidéo triste de voir cette maison partir en ruines 😢 avec tout ces souvenirs
Wonderful video! I loved it!
honestly, i'm only 37, but i reflect on these videos every time i consider a purchase. "does this object mean anything to anyone other than me?" "am i growing a mess for someone else to clean up later?" ....it doesn't stop me from collecting my favorite things, but it stops me from making more frivolous purchases.
Thank you for being so kind of the memories of that family. Great job
I’ve watched your channel from the beginning and have always been impressed by the dignity you show those from the past. Bless you! ❤
You never said anything about the butterfly wallpaper ❤ It is so l😍 lovely
Awesome Vintage Home, and amazing antique furniture, and other artifact's, what such phenomenal atmosphere and land, Beautiful curtains and beautiful window's, lovely Home!
I can’t understand family members fighting over a place for so long that in the end there will ultimately be nothing left of it anymore. I hope collecting gave her the comfort she was looking for🙏, if so that is all that matters. No one understands and there should be no judgement of her.
Hello how are you doing today
It’s so sad to see how the relatives alive doesn’t value the effort of their ancestors to achieve not just material things, a house that once was a roof over their heads and be safe, make a home etc. Cleaning a bit is not harmful, mental health in the elderly is super important.
Watching a lot of videos of them, leave me thinkig if it’s worthy to keep a lot of things if you are alone, they will end like that or just in the garbage 😢
I agree, although we don’t know the circumstances of many the family’s but in this case it appears to be greed. I like beautiful thing’s to enjoy while I’m on this earth. So different than a hoarding situation which is hard for me to understand but it is a sickness in my opinion. I just don’t think living along should stop anyone from having what they find beautiful around them. I don’t intend to take it with me and where it goes after me won’t be of concern.
@@fallonbea That's really nice of you I'm doing good so where are you from? I'm from Dallas Texas
Same happening with my relative house greedy fojk terrible
One of the saddest episodes yet. All those pictures she treasured of her family and the happy times they had together. I'm sure she would be shocked at this outcome.
This was beautiful! Your commentary is always so heartfelt! I appreciate your compassion for the people who have lived in these places.
Thankfully when my mother passed, it was just myself and my sister. We divided everything fairly. If we both wanted something, we wrote it down and put it on a piece of paper, folded the paper and put it on a bowl. Then we took turns drawing the folded papers from the bowl. We sold the house and then split that evenly. My sister kept our mothers car due to the fact she did most of the work to sell the house since I lived 1000 miles away. This was back in 2001 and she still has my mother's car since it was new when my mother bought it and my mother rarely drove far, so it had very low mileage. People shouldn't fight over these silly things, now that they had to have the courts involved, that house is unfortunately going to have to be demolished eventually and everything inside will most likely just be left inside when and if it's demolished since everything is already beyond saving. Such a shame.
You’re absolutely right. So much fighting and for what? In the end nothing will be worth a penny.
I am one of 7 girls and one boy and sadly must admit that there were 2 of my sisters who pitched a fit over things. My sister and I refused to engage in any of it because we knew how my sweet, kind little mom would have been so sad and disappointed. My mom insisted I take things she wanted me to have before she passed. I thought it was silly at the time, but now I think she just knew her time was short. She was always so busy and so vibrant, I didn’t see it coming at all.
That's sad you had to go through that with your sisters. I can't imagine fighting over belongings. When my parents go I don't want anything, it'll only add clutter and wouldn't even want their house, my little brother can have it, he was always the favored one my mom mentioned he would keep the house. I'm 52 now and don't need an extra responsibility to maintain a house.
That room with the larger bed appears to me to be the masterbedroom where her and her husband may have slept. My mom began collecting dolls as she got older that gave her so much joy. When she was small she was allowed only one doll so she made up for all the dolls she ever wanted to keep her company😊
Oh my 😮that Winter Cactus on that outside bistro table looks good for being exposed to the elements for 15+ years....
Some of those plants in the dining/living are live and being watered by someone or water is getting in...🤔
Can be artificial plants.
Observing all these witnesses of human existence, one somehow sadly wonders about the meaning of life. We collect and accumulate all these beautiful things in our lives, and once we leave, they no longer represent anything to anyone. As much as I love these researches of yours, they leave me so sad at the end.
She didn't buy all this stuff for her family but to bring her some joy. It no longer matters that none of family want them, they brightened her days.
I'm glad I found your channel and I never realised how much I will enjoy such videos and how much these videos make me think about true values in life...
This has to be my favorite episode! The family was well traveled and enjoyed life to fullest. Liquor bottles and wine in basement. Obviously she had a garden so she grew and canned items fruits and vegetables from her garden. She did love flowers! Ill bet her gardens were beautiful. Layer in life could not work in garden so she purchased silk flowers to bring happiness to her!😊
Hello Vicki how are you doing today
This is so topical of many houses in France, today. This was such an interesting place. It’s sad that no one returned to clean the place up or remove their personal items & photos. So very sad. Thank you for this video. You are the best!
Very interesting home. At 38:11 there's a mist as you walk into the attic space. It's there for just a moment, then it vanishes like a long ago memory. Keep up the great work.
Maybe dust or his breath but maybe something else 😊
That's really interesting. Lesley's not dressed like it would be cold enough to see his breath, especially in a hot attic. Hmmmmmm!
@@billb5749 Looks like spring or early summer in the outside shots.
@dragonwithagirltattoo598 Could be. But that's the only time it happens. Outside shots appear to be Spring or early summer. Dust? Highly unlikely. I don't believe in ghosts. Just saying it's odd.
So true Leslie, A man’s life does not consist of the abundance of one’s possessions ❤
Lesley you did a fantastic job depicting this family. She did have some incredible antiques. However, the nature is taking them all back. I noticed all the buckets all over the floors collecting the water. So sad to see. You could tell there was a lot of love in that house. Also, a lot of beds! Thank you so much. Stay safe and happy exploring. 💜🤗😎🫶🇺🇸
Отличный комментарий, полностью с вами согласна.
Makes you wonder how letting it all rot is a sane resolution to a family dispute.
Are just watching this place is beautiful i can imagine sitting here having cuppa and it wouldnt worry me i bet it was such a happy home but so sad things have to happen this way they were horders rake through theres a fortune thete but thats not ekeverent its all family pictures there worth more than money wish thete was someone to take pictures to save all memoies are bless ya for shareing this to all stay safe thankyou
Fan from India. your videos makes me realize one day everything will be left here and next generation will not be even coming back to look at the house their forefathers lived. this thought is so painful. we are trying hard to buy a nice house, nice car, nice household stuff but one day they all will be abandoned like none ever existed here. how can people leave even their photographs which are the treasure of memories.
so sad to die alone but im alone too and have nobody im almost 50 i work everyday can barley walk i know how life goes its ruff being alone
Lots of us are alone, living alone. I'm 62 and have worked since I was 18. Now I can barely walk as well. It's a scary thing looking ahead to the future. If it's any comfort, you aren't the only one. There are so many people in single households. It's incredible. Besides, fifty is not old.
Thank You, For The Tour Around This Once Beatifull Home, She Must Have Been A Graceful Lady, With All The Lovely Items On Display Around The Home, It's Sad That The Family Are Fighting Over The Contence, As You Can See Lots Of Value There, But Sadly They Will All Be Lost, Before They Can Be Saved, As These Things Can Go On For Years Before They Agree To Settel, And Lawyers Will Take Most Of The Money, From The Family. I Come To You From New Zealand.
Odd, but I appreciated the walkout basement the most. I like seeing the "roots" of the construction and the utility of the long term storage shelves so easily accessed without dark scary descending steps. I like seeing the beams and the bottom of floor boards, the skeleton of the home. The skill of the stone masons and the careful placement of the brick quoins that make the house look like a crayon drawing with thick, deep red outlining is always impressive.
This house got a lot of stuff, you can find everything in this home, thank for sharing
Sad so beautiful
Amazing as always Lesley, always look forward to your videos and thank you for continuing to amaze us ⚔🛡⚔
My brother bought a similar house with everything inside. Usual story, old woman living alone, surrounded by all her memories. It wasn't as cluttered, but it still had a lot of antiques and stuff lying around. I was there helping him clean it up, and I felt that I'm in one of your videos. The family had a personal antique shop for a while.
i don't know if it was already said by others but the cage in the kitchen is not for bird but was using to put the cheese ! Some people still use it nowadays because it keeps the cheese at the room temperature. Anyway, thanks a lot for your videos ; i like the way you tell the stories.
Thank you for taking the time to hand caption this instead of relying on auto captions. I appreciate it as a hard of hearing viewer.
The lamp hanging over the dinner table is so beautiful
May their souls rest in peace!Thank you for showing us those beautiful places !Take care always and God bless you and your friends!
I feel like i will be exactly like this when i get old bc i just love collecting antiques so much, most specially plates and teacups and she had so many of those. Why were things back then so beautifully designed? like they really care about the details and colors and all. Now everything's centered on ''minimalism'' but i really think it's just an excuse for either laziness or lack of creativity. Gosh her house must be so pretty back then when it was well taken care of. It's sad none of her children or grandkids bothered to preserve or appreciate her collections. I would have picked the best ones (if not all) and made sure it continues to live and be admired in my home, just how she want it.
Thanks Lesley! I'm wondering, when you speak to neighbors, how do you explain why you sre asking about a place? I'm sure they must ask.
This is my favorite one so far. Magical home.
Loveeeeeeeee all the beautiful things left inside/soooooooooo sad the family has not taken all the beautiful things
Obrigado por mostrar tudo isso muito interessante 🇧🇷
This man doing this video has such a respectful heart! Thank you for so much honer…this women is smiling from Heaven❤
If this channel were made into a television show it would have the highest ratings.
You have done it again. Amazing house you found. I am so grateful that you are filming the items with all The details. I am overwhelming by your talent. You're The best.. ❤❤
I think I like watching the abandoned castles more. Seeing these houses all cluttered with junk like this is so sad.
When my parents are dead I'll make sure that my siblings empty out the house and clean it.
Amazing story of the family who lived there so many things to see well done guys.
OMG…Reminds me of my home and gardens… only 10% of the treasures, my kids would say 30%. Dealing with stage 4 colon cancer, I need to find homes for my treasures! Bless this women , her life and Thank you for sharing her memories
Thank you Leslie, I love you to for being the video to us😊
This place and all of the beautiful antiquities are definitely worthy of some love.❤
Fascinating - and sad.
When there are disputes over inheritance, I wish they would have someone go in and get all of the photographs to put them in a safe place until things get resolved. That's the saddest part of these homes for me - there probably weren't any copies of those old photos. At least scan them onto a computer.
Encore une excellente vidéo, merci a toi pour ce super bon moment 🙂😉
Great tour as always Leslie. 👍😊
Thank you for another amazing story. Thank you Lesley.
That was a beautiful documentary Leslie Thanks so much
I really love the way you tell the story behind and along with you make us your these left behind beautiful houses ✨🌼
I truly enjoy your videos, Lesley.
Hola Lesley fabuloso video hermosa casa con muchod recuerdos dentro !! Saludos 😘
Amazing, thank you.
Bendiciones!!!!
Great video! Thank you
Greetings brother Lesley! Another well documented video on these sad abandoned family homes especially when it comes to death of parents. I have been there and how correct you are about elderly hoarding once loved one pass. We must remember that things in this life remains here but our faith is eternal if we truly believe in Christ alone. God bless my friend.
Hi, I really enjoy this video, the house is so charming, just really sad how everything is decayed .Probably those antiques have a lot of values. I'm surprised that the house still keep all the cluttler throuhgout all this years.Thank you for a wonderful episode.
The little porcelain finger protectors are called thimbles. Very nice collection 😊
Super beautiful 👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Well done as always
I cant stop thinking about this beautiful home! The property and home would have made a beautiful bed and breakfast! LOVE IT ALL! 😊
So sad the kids did not take some of the belongings. Love you
Ur the BEST Urban Explorer on RUclips! You have a lot of respect and You're respectful to your audience. By not using foul language and I appreciate that a lot. Sending my prayers from West Virginia USA.
Are you for freaking real?
So you find it "respectful" to trespass on private property and film and publish the video to make money?
Jesus Freaking Christ !!!!
Dzeki za oprowadzenie po tak ciekawej posiadlosci, pozdrawiam💚👍❤️🇵🇱
Boa tarde belíssimo CASA os móveis são incrível parabéns PELO vídeo incríveis sucesso
Leslie you do s great job on the places you show iI just wish all the stuff could some how be saved it on one was the thing it could be donated to a childers fund and give a lot of kids a start in life whitch would be so wnoderful and the history thst would be saved would be great the childer could have a foot up on history.
Another very sad place. Looks like she was just waiting for the Lord to take her home with him. Life ends but time gos on. We will all be here some day. I hope she had a great life. We will never know but now shes at peace. Stay safe Lesley we will see your work next week. Thanks once again.
Cool video and an exciting house!
Impressionante esse lugar. Tantos detalhes, cuidados, esmeros e depois deixados para trás 😢 .
Amo suas apresentações porque vc é muito respeitador, sensível, voz linda e excelente vocabulário.❤❤
Good find
Thanks enjoyed watching ❤
Your in one of my favorite places to visit, I come there several times a year and can't get enough.
I've watched your videos for quite a long time, as time goes by you just get better and better.
God bless and take care of you and your brother as you travel!
Cheers from sunny South Florida!
💖
Edit; The only thing that upsets me is some of these beautiful pieces should be taken out so that other people may enjoy them before the earth reclaims them. I know if I passed and my children left what they didn't want..I'd love for someone to take these things that I bought and loved..take them home and bring them back to life. I realise some things are held up in court systems. But nevertheless it makes me so sad these precious items will never be used again. 😢
❤😊❤köszönöm szeretettel az idõutazást ! ❤
Very nice house thanks Lesley
Time to relax to your storey telling!

I have Been an Avid Doll Collector for over 50 years, and I know for a Fact that Doll on the Bed at 33:00 is Worth about $4000. No Joke.
