Aston Martin is absolutely his best bet. He wants a shot at the title, which he wont get with redbull. He also wants security, which he wont get with redbull. Charles is a crazy fast driver. But Carlos is the complete package. Not to belittle the brilliance of Leclerc, but he isn't even close to Sainz when it comes to race intelligence. If you let Charles run in a hot lap competition, he will win every time. But when things other than how fast you drive are a deciding factor, I wouldn't bet on him. I love Carlos and he is a great, under-appreciated driver. Even so, Max would beat him comfortably, come on. I don't really believe you think he could win.
Carlos isn't as fast as Leclerc, but is very good at taking advantage of Leclerc's mistakes. He's also better at taking situations in a race under his own control when the team lets him down.
Max is at least as fast as Leclerc (I think he's faster actually, when he needs to be) but he almost never makes mistakes and the RB car is loaded with oversteer to the point that other drivers can't cope.
There's nothing Carlos has that Max doesn't either equal or surpass and the car is basically an extension of himself. There's a reason why drivers look worse next to him.

In the past 6 month or so, my perception of the Ferrari drivers changed.
I believe that Charles is the better qualifier and, if Ferraris strategy will truly change for the better, would ultimately be superiour.
However, as soon as the strategists have an off day, Sainz is there to tell them off and capitalise.
In a Team where he is allowed to lead, he would win championships. He is adaptable with his driving style (he drove the weird mclarens and did so rather well), he developed this top down view during races, he can and will capitalise. I don't think any team can afford not to check if they don't have an opening for him. Championships are not won during Qualifying, but during races, and races are this man's strongest suit.

Since Sainz sr. likes to meddle with the team so much to steer it more towards his son, i doubt Horner feels like it. Not to mention that, despite all that meddling, Max will make Sainz look like Perez. He had Sainz beaten back in TR, the beating would be even more severe this time around. I doubt Sainz will feel like it, so no, it's not going to happen. If Perez does enough to help them get the constructor championships, a one-year extension for him is far more likely to happen.

Think about it: He improved every team he joined. Torro Rosso in 2014 was in the lower midfield, when he left in 2017, they were regularly fighting for P8 or P9. Renault in 2016 was struggling while they were significantly better off in 2019 and even got a few podiums in 2020. Mclaren in 2017/18 were still nowhere and had to completely overhaul their entire and car design. After the "Carlos-era" they won their first race in almost a decade in 2021. And lastly, Ferrari in 2020 had one of their worst seasons in the last 20 years. Right now it seems, Carlos will leave the second fastest team on the grid.
I know that these examples do not really hold up but it is quite fascinating if you look at it like that.

Sure the dads will have their tensions reignited but Christian won't lose any sleep over that! 🤣🤣🤣 In fact I think this will be Christian's ideal move to reestablish his control over the RB team, a kick in Jos's teeth and a clear message to Helmut that he doesn't make the final choice. Carlos won't be worried about being regarded as No 2, he's beaten that one down these last 3+ years, though Max will be very hard to beat.

Checo won his first race on a fluke, if Mercedes hadn't messed up Russell's race he would have won it with Bottas on 2 easily.
His win was random, like Ocon's or Gasly's.
While Carlos has now won both times when Red Bull slipped, the second time now even against a (better) Red Bull car still on track, which should have, by all rights, just dominated.
This is like back then, when Mercedes dominated with Hamilton and Verstappen scooped up wins, while Bottas couldn't keep up, even though that Merc was just surreal.
Every time Carlos switched teams he was instantly on it, even beating established teammates.
I firmly believe he would adapt instantly again.

I’m glad you made the point about his adaptability. It’s very noteworthy that he could come to terms with the difficult McLaren when Daniel Ricciardo, whose talent was never seriously questioned until McLaren, never could. And when he switched to Ferrari, it was twitchy and not the easiest car to drive at first, but he settled into it very quickly, as well.
And just to piss off all the Max fanboys, it’s worth pointing out that even Max has not demonstrated that sort of adaptability - when the Red Bull was understeery, Perez was notably close to Max until that balance was sorted out. We really don’t know if Max might have struggled just (or almost) as much as Ricciardo in that absolute dog of a McLaren.
Marko, for whom the sun rises and sets on Max, even paid Carlos the highest praise by saying he was almost as fast as Max and they were just about evenly matched.
I was thinking Red Bull wouldn’t want him back because of the toxicity when he and Max were in the same team, but I wasn’t considering the current politics within the team. Now I have much more hope of him ending up there next year.😁 that would make for great entertainment, both on and off the track

If i were Carlos, i would be working hard to get that vacant merc seat. He has the pace and more importantly other skills like handling extreme pressure and being calm (singapore gp) and the leadership and ruthlessness to have his way (british gp).
Going to RB will be a death knell for his chances of ever becoming champion as long as Max is there.
Ive said this many times but ferrari made a big mistake by firing carlos. Lewis being a 7 time champ wont play second fiddle and wants to win championships. Leclerc is imo utterly a second fiddle although he is their long term guy. Why would they have a long term #2 driver when lewis joins. Leclerc lacks ruthlessness and leadership qualities. Hes been in the team for 5 years now but isnt the defacto #1 driver cos he lacks all other qualities needed to be that except for speed.
Ferrari more than anything needs consistency over few years. They were just getting a good team together with both carlos and charles but they changed the dynamic again.

You forget one minor detail and that is Sainz’s unfortunate tendency to try to elbow his way past his teammates. When they were both at Toro Rosso, Sainz whined over the radio to get the team to tell Max to let him pass because “I am quicker”, to which Max answered “NO!” This set the tone for their relationship on and off the track. Like all drivers, Max and Carlos are there for one person and one person only, themselves but Max does not ask to be let through, he just passes you and goes on his merry way.

One season in a car he’s not used to against Max followed by a likely midfield car doesn’t sound appealing
