I find myself always coming back to play for 3-5 weeks or so whenever a new content patch comes and then i get bored and go do something else for a few weeks. Sometimes that turns into a couple of months if i find another game in that timeframe too.
100% agree, and i think this is amplified in PvP. People have done their best to recreate the feeling of arenas and battlegrounds and nothing comes even close 😢.

Its because of lore, and for that to go over his head is incredible. The 21 person raid team thing was first done with Limit/Liquid through Max, but it was in the conversation before they started doing it. I think Clarity? which was a top 20ish raid guild brought up the idea and they didn't feel it would get ground breaking results or felt cheap doing so.
The quest lines in TWW stand out to me a lot more than anything retail has had since before BFA. The princess Mononoke questline in the southern part of The ringing depths was a really cool nod. Although since we have two weeks before S1 even starts I’ve just been taking the game a lot slower then I’m used too and finding it a lot more enjoyable.
He makes a good point about addons, this might sound weird but I have not used Combat Addons at all I have played since close to launch, I almost didn't play because the Launch was so bad and it took me the weekend to actually get online and stay on in was a janky start for sure, but I am happy that I stuck it out. The thing that has stuck with me over the years is how back then no one was obsessed with "endgame" other than players that this was their first mmo and did not understand that single player games end but mmos don't unless they fail.
If you are doing all 3 roles(MT, Raid leader and guild leader) and you are not sponsored or paid to be all those things - eg. it's your actual salaried job to be such...I promise you that you will be burned out so fast. If you work a full-time job, manage/support a family AND you are doing all three things?

I am an OG WoW player. FOR THE HORDE. Troll Shaman, Tauran Warrior tank. I have tanked Rags as my shaman, back in the day when my guild was killing the sons before rags resurfaced. I hope Thralls story line will progress and shaman's get to tank. Enhancement tank, with Rock Biter, needs to come back.

That's why i love when people say that about Runescape. That it's just nostalgia but I didn't play when I was a kid and started two years ago. The game is just better then everything at the time and in my opinion it's still better then any mmo released still today. Nostalgia wont keep anyone playing for the long term. A good game will.
When i PVP'd i slowly added addons for things i had trouble with, never did the whole download everything. Started with gladius, then was like man some of these cooldowns are hard to track in the heat, then i downloaded weakauras i think, cant exactly remember which one i used and just had alerts for each problem CC or cooldown that an enemy could have and slowly added them in. I would be so confused unless i knew exactly why something was yelling at me. I figured most people did that.

Being the best guild/s of all time is a VERY extreme exception. It’s ridiculous to even invoke that against the point that spreading responsibilities around increases a team mindset, morale and performance.
I have a rotation addon for classic - it's helpful but it's occasionally just fucking wrong imo. You can't just rely on addons all the time to tell you what to do, you have to learn what to do first and use the addons as a tool to reinforce and support what you're already doing. And sometimmeeeesss you have to ignore them and make a choice you know is better.
The part with the Addons is so true. i mostly play without addons because i play since Vanilla and back then Titanpanel and such was a big thing but every patch broke them and i got fed up. The new UI is so flexible that you really do not need addons. I mostly just use a dps meter ( just to check how the healing (overhealing) and overall mana spend is) and DBM for phases and such. It really helps when you as a guild just focus on beating the boss and try fixing you comms and such and not just look at the "worst" dps and Heal to blame them
shitty quest item drop rates aren't why people like old content, it's how you actually played a massive multiplayer online game, instead of just playing a solo game where you get together with some people towards the end of the game

Blizz needs to learn that its okay to have seasonal content that people come back for. ARPG cycles are the perfect example. WoW doesn't need to be a game that you ONLY play. It's okay to come into it, play it for a bit and then leave and come back.. Blizz has launches down, they need to figure out how to bring players back.

I want to add something about the echoes. It is a hint about some future things to come, we had maximum lich king memories, why no bfa why no cata or pandaria? There's also been strong event happening. So I believe rotational servers from classic -> tbc -> wotlk incoming. People in the forum are crying out loud for that.

All this, is gone. It's a free for all, and no one really matters. Classes don't really matter anymore. Healers are second rate citizens to the dps class self heals. Crowd Control doesn't exist anymore, in reality. Single dps and AoE dps isn't a thing anymore, everyone has both .... The creator of DBM said he wished he hadn't created it, as it is requirement now, and the game mechanics are second place. After Cata, instead of WoW cracking down on third party mods, they just incorporated them into the game. Making it mind numbingly easy.... and now... I thought they were going to bring back the "theme" of the classes, giving them an actual identity again.... nope. Everyone literally gets everything, guised as "theme" ... My healers are dpsing. My dps is tanking. And my tanks are dpsing now ... synergy, gone. Trinity, dead. All because of the Arena E-sport 3 mans.... which should NOT have affected the base game at all ... especially pvE When the raids come out for War Within... they need classes to do specific things... if not, it's going to be the same mechanics as Dragonflight, and redundant and boring... just go thru the motions till you reach Mythic +. And then ... do it all over again with mobs that just have extra hit points , buffed resists, and minor added mechanics that are annoying, not challenging.
Xaryu needs to hire a new editor, that's literally the only thing keeping your RUclips from growing massively. Asmongold and the other big streamers on Twitch for WoW got most of their viewers from RUclips... Soda, Esfand, etc they all grew because of their RUclips channels. In that case Xaryu's editor is literally drastically holding back his career.
well, "new content"" sounds great, but after so many expansions and years, it is hard to add new content, it will be somewhat same to all previous stuff. you cant keep putting out new ideas forever. at one point, it will get repetetive and eventually die out. thats why i say, yes content, add 4th spec to all classess.

Well. There are different ways to attempt things. If you're extremely good and know it you can either do it like Xaryu and don't talk big about yourself (he is one of the best player in the world and still never brags about it but praises everyone else) or you can just say how it is, not really brag, but make clear what you know and can. I wouldn't say either of them is better or worse and when you understand both attemps and that they are not meant to be rude or arrogant then you'll like people despite that their way of showing their knowledge is good is different. He basically is a know-it-all - but he also in fact knows it all. So he can be like that.

The expansion looks generic to me. I actually hate that they announced 3 expansions at once. It sounds disrespectful to me. Whoever was in charge of that shouldn't have the right to declare an expansion so far out before he has put any work in. If I was a dev I would be demotivated because rather than feeling like the future is a mystery or that I could have an input the decision has already been set for many years out. The only thing that would make this all acceptable is if it was all a ruse to begin developing a sequel to WoW.

well, "new content"" sounds great, but after so many expansions and years, it is hard to add new content, it will be somewhat same to all previous stuff. you cant keep putting out new ideas forever. at one point, it will get repetetive and eventually die out. thats why i say, yes content, add 4th spec to all classess.

Is a large streamer, has a lot of experience based on his past about softwareengineering and shares his knowledge with working conditions in the software industry... so he can be above I assume?
Well. There are different ways to attempt things. If you're extremely good and know it you can either do it like Xaryu and don't talk big about yourself (he is one of the best player in the world and still never brags about it but praises everyone else) or you can just say how it is, not really brag, but make clear what you know and can. I wouldn't say either of them is better or worse and when you understand both attemps and that they are not meant to be rude or arrogant then you'll like people despite that their way of showing their knowledge is good is different. He basically is a know-it-all - but he also in fact knows it all. So he can be like that.
I mean, he's a smart guy with a good career and worked for big tech companies including the Gov. Why would you not be on the same page with him? I smell hate.

Ion was the first gigachad raid leader before content creation was a thing. I can’t comment on his gaming skill in 2024 but 20 years ago he was optimizing raid leading before anyone else.

The expansion looks generic to me. I actually hate that they announced 3 expansions at once. It sounds disrespectful to me. Whoever was in charge of that shouldn't have the right to declare an expansion so far out before he has put any work in. If I was a dev I would be demotivated because rather than feeling like the future is a mystery or that I could have an input the decision has already been set for many years out. The only thing that would make this all acceptable is if it was all a ruse to begin developing a sequel to WoW.
