I use fresh ginger and.. turmeric. I make a hot tea with cayenne pepper and black pepper, with lemon. I also take ashwagandha capsules. Thank you for this! Ivwill be speaking with my Dr.
Hello Dr. Jen: I only use Tumeric in my cooking. GreenTree extract. I only think about green when I think of tea.🍵 Black Choash? I'm glad you spoke on this. Someone was suggesting this to me because I have severe hot flashes. (I'm postmenopausal) I read up on this and the side effects. I passed. I just take cool showers, baths, and lay off spicy foods. It stated black choash was not good or would cause severe side effects with a medication I was taking. Thanks for this information. Reading as well as discussing matters with your doctor is so important. Persons have good intentions, but sometimes what may seem like a good idea should be left alone, especially if you're not a trained professional.
@@DrJenCaudleI take turmeric sometimes because it is good for inflammation and now that you’re telling me that can damage your liver I’m concerned, how do you know if you liver’s damage, what kind the test can I do to find out. Please answer me. Thanks
Very helpful. Especially if you’re having surgery. Some vitamins and supplements can thin your blood. When my mom had hip replacement surgery, she had to be off all vitamins and supplements for two weeks in advance of her surgery.
Sometimes I sprinkle a bit of tumeric in my smoothies. In addition to a daily multivitamin(w/iron-Dr recommended)), I do take black seed oil, pumpkin seed oil, zinc & vitamin D daily.
No disrespect Dr but what can we take. I mean for real. The medication the Dr's gives us causes problems now you are saying that these might cause problems so my question to you what can we take?
Just 5 not 6, unless I missed something. 😅 Was this a test to make sure were paying attention? Question, why list the supplements potentially instilling panic or fear without providing more information? What’s considered safe and unsafe? What causes the supplements to be unsafe? Can they damage a healthy liver or just a liver condition or underlying issue related to liver function? Any predispositions or health conditions that can make you more susceptible? Any drug or vitamin interactions to make you more susceptible? Thanks! 🙏🏽
Thanks for the video. But I think we need to strike a balance. Natural supplements are definitely the best option. However, as the saying goes " too much of everything is bad." In other words, it's not necessarily the supplements but the quantity being ingested at a time.
Thanks for the info Dr Jen. However, I’ve listened to your video 3 times and noted down 5 not 6 supplements. Namely, turmeric, green tea extract, black cohosh, red yeast rice and ashwaghanda. What am I missing, please? Thanks!
Yes, only 5 were named in the video. However the title stated 6 as well as Dr Jen mentioned 6. Probably what happened was just accidentally skipped one from her notes. Dr Jen, what's the 6th?? Thank you!
With ashwaghanda, it was suggested to me to do one month on, one month off and that was just because it leaves you sort of emotionally numb and flattens affect when taken for long periods of time with no break.
I took a list of 6 supplements/vitamins that I take into my doctor, she glanced at the list and told me I don't need them !! I always thought the general vitamins/supplements ie., Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, Multivitamin, B Complex, Zinc, Magnesium, etc were ok and good to take ??
I mean but a lot of these Dr's are so quick to write out prescriptions for something that may help one thing but damage something else having you come back to take care of that NEW problem the PRESCRIBED medicine damaged.. I'll take my chances with my herbs
Go natural. Two years ago I moved to a small town, the doctors are SO incompetent it's scary! Almost every health issue can be solved with a natural healthy lifestyle.
@@DrJenCaudle Okay, now I’m convinced that you’re either joking or maybe you’ve paid someone to post random responses in your comments. 🤦🏽♀️ Cayenne pepper is a spice like Tumeric that is being packaged and sold usually in capsule form as a supplement. Good for circulation, inflammation.
Well as you probably know everything you eat goes through the liver, there are fillers and substances added to aid absorption or aid longevity or shelf life, and those can vary in quality too e.g. a cheap vitamin b may be more harmful than a more expensive higher quality that should not be underestimated. Can't say I agree on tumeric, there is real history there in asia going back hundreds if not thousands of years plus new studies that show the benefits outweigh any possible risk If in doubt I'd rather bank on centuries or millennia of evidence data vs decades of modern medicine studies. Also some great supplements I take for a long time, L-arginine (also in bulk powder/whey protein form), beet root capsules, Co-Q10/ubiquinol, cinnamon and others
Thanks so much for watching this video! Did it surprise you that these supplements can cause liver damage?

I recently been feeling very sluggish, and literally exhausted. I was told to get my iron checked cuz turmeric also affects your iron. Is this true?
Yes. It was a surprise. But it is very informative and helpful.
What’s the signs of liver damage

Dr. Jen, you were very clear. I was just thinking about tea, that's all.😂

What about using turmeric daily to season your food? (not in supplement form, just as a spice) I regularly use it in cooking...
I think it depends on how much you’re using- if it’s a lot it could be something to think about t
Me too ❤❤ wow good for thought surely
This was very helpful Dr. Jen!
Glad it was helpful!
Great information!!!! You had some great points!

Thank you so much for this. In India people use it without adequate precautions and damage their internal organs.
Supplements or the natural seasoning? There’s a difference
