What should you be looking for in a pre-workout? 🔍
There are so many ingredients in a pre-workout and honestly, some of them are pretty useless.
Here is a few of the MAIN ingredients to look out for in a pre-workout:
👉 Caffeine - This is the main ingredient that will give you energy and the ingredient you'll be looking at to see how strong a pre-workout is. For reference 1 cup of coffee is around 80mg. A medium strength pre would be around 200-300mg of caffeine.
👉 Citrulline - This helps with blood flow and is the main ingredient which gives you fat pumps. We tend to look for pre-workouts that would have around 6000mg. If there is more, even better!
👉 Beta-Alanine - Love it or hate it, this will always be in pre-workouts. This is the ingredient that will make you feel itchy and tingly. Pre-workouts with at least 3000mg of beta-alanine is a good amount!
There are a few more important ingredients in there, however, these ones are the main ones we generally look out for in pre-workouts!
Me at the gym:that’s one minute see you tomorrow
Most clinical studies use 8G of Citruline.
As well as studies show beta alanine has no performance effect on exercises lasting less than 60 seconds in duration. Which includes the vast majority of lifting sets.
thx
little less ingredient studying and a little more iron pumping you might make some gains
