@@HealthCoachKait Mostly before first and usually main meal of the day, if not only meal. I generally have something light in the evening. If we’re going out for dinner I’ll eat lighter at midday.
I used to have reactive hypoglycemia all the time. I've been low carb mostly for about 6 months and it's so much better. I find your channel very helpful. Thank you 😊
A lot of problems we have now are related to insulin resistance. It's a obscure subject for most of people. Sometime, it is mention here and there without explanation. Great video, kait thanks a lot! ❤😊
I get low blood sugar if i eat a carb heavy meal. The symptoms i get are heart palpitations, cold sweat, shaking and dizziness. My doctor advised me to eat many small meals, which i think was a mistake as that would be keeping insulin high all the time. I manage my low blood sugar by eating a low carb diet, or if i want to have more carbs i make sure to eat vegetables and protein first before the rice, bread, pasta and sugary cakes, cookies, etc. i also do a 16/8 intermittent fast daily (except on holidays) and lost weight gradually. I love carbs and so glad i found a way to enjoy it without suffering the horrible symptoms of low blood sugar.
That’s awesome you have found something that works for you! The frequent, small meals can sometimes work to *manage* hypoglycemia, but if you want it to actually improve it’s counterproductive for the reasons you said.
I've only been eating beef since October 5, 2024, and I couldn't eat anything without having awful reactions. 3 weeks ago, I started adding squash, apples, blueberries, goat cheese, fresh squeezed oj, and cottage cheese 😋 I feel better adding natural, healthy carbohydrates 😊
I'm the only calm one in my vegetarian family thanks to my carnivore lifestyle. Here I thought anger issues run in the family but turns out it's just wrong food choices lol.
I’ve struggled with reactive hypoglycaemia most of my life (since I was a child) but doctors aren’t interested. The only solution I’ve found is to eat a high protein diet and avoid refined carbs.
Hello, Love your videos, I recently reverse my pre-diabetes from 5.8to 5.5 but im sure im still insulin resistant, can. I take Berberine regardless? Much love from Cali🌴
Yes, berberine can be beneficial even if you aren’t prediabetic or insulin resistant. I take it before I eat out or if I know I’m going to be having more carbs 🙂
I struggle with dumping syndrome that was caused by stomach surgery. I get terrible leg cramps from the thigh into my toes when I eat high carb foods. Is that a sign of low blood sugar too. Also does dumping syndrome also mean insulin resistance in my case?
Oh that is strange about the leg cramps… I’m not sure what the connection to that would be to be honest. Dumping syndrome and insulin resistance can go hand in hand, yes. The same strategies I mentioned in this video will benefit both. Avoiding “naked” carbs, taking berberine to slow digestion, etc.
Even as a young teenager, I would pass out from low blood sugar. Generally, I wake up in the morning with a low blood sugar reading anywhere from 3.4 to 4.0. I always use sweets to bring it back up. I want to go 100% carnivore, but I am very apprehensive to go all in because of the fear of a hypoglycemic episode. I keep dates on hand for when I feel 'off' but also have a sugar addiction. How do I proceed? Also, I am a big girl of 300 lbs. and my doctor wants me to get gastric bypass. I'm at a loss...
I have the symptoms, but my blood sugar is normal (i tracked it in different times of the day and night, before and after meals, when i had symptoms and i didn't etc. - blod sugar was always within the norm). What's that supposed to mean? I am so tired to feel so horrible, but can't find the root cause of it all. Fasting is so often recommended, but how am i supposed to fast if i feel such an extreme hunger like i'm gonna faint or vomit? (I'm also a bit underwheigh, so fasting doesn't even seem healthy for me).
Some people can experience hypoglycemia symptoms with “normal” numbers so that’s not that strange. Do you always experience it after eating or only after eating high carb meals? As a woman who is underweight I would definitely advise against fasting. Eat three solid meals a day and make sure you are getting enough 1. Protein (1g per lb of your ideal body weight in a day), 2. Fat (try to match protein g for g) and then add whole food carbs to satiety. Make sure your first meal especially has enough protein (minimum 30g).
@HealthCoachKait Thank you for the response! Hunger is the worst symptom for me and usually i always experience it after eating. And also at night. I used to have a full meal in the middle of the night because i was waking up starving. Now i have to eat close to bedtime, because i won't be able to fall asleep hungry and will most likely need a snack at 2/3/4 am.
I typically exercise first thing in the morning for 2 hrs on an empty stomach. Then eat low carb. About an hour later I experience hypoglycemia , all the symptoms. I assume it’s because exercise raises my blood glucose, and then it crashes. How can I avoid this? Should I eat something fatty before exercise?
@@HealthCoachKait thanks for the response. I am 70 years old and still trying to build/maintain muscle. I typically start with a warm up run, then various exercises with free weights, body weight, bands, etc. totaling about 2 hrs
There are a few different companies that will organise the prescription for you. I’ve been trying to find one to recommend but honestly… the customer service from the ones I’ve tried has been so bad I’m hesitant to recommend just based on that 😅 I’ve used Nutrisense in the past and also Levels
I intended to go to the gym this weekend instead, I just went rock climbing not once but twice this weekend and my hands fingers and forearms are quite sore and my forearms are now hard and veiny 🧗♂️
Do you struggle with reactive hypoglycemia?! 🤒
I get all those symptoms not after eating but before - when I’m hungry? I do intermittent fasting and I’m broadly keto. What do you make of that?
You're beautiful. 😘💋
@julie does it only happen in the morning before you break your fast? Or before every meal? What does your fasting and eating schedule look like?

Can you take the berberine while pregnant ?
Thank you so much ! You are the best!
How do you do 12 hour intermittent fasting safely if you’re diabetic?
Are you on insulin or other medication?
I’m not on insulin but I take Metformin. Type 2 diabetes.
