I love how passion fruit in German is Maracuja- which is the word for passion fruit in Brazil, where it is native :D
Bienenstich - ganz, ganz lecker! ;-)
Finde ich auch :)
Ich auch 😋
My mouth started to water as soon as she cut that cake!
Wally Kaspars 😋
Just close your hungry eyes)))))))))))))))))))))
love the way they smile after saying their fav cake
Mozarttorte, a recipe as old as the musician, passed on for generations, and I am just lucky enough to have received it in hand-written form
I am worried about the girl who is selling cakes. She looks sad. Doesn't she eat them herself?
Maybe she has to wait until after work to eat them :)
She might even does it before work :))))
but in secret :)
For her it is verboten. That s why :)
Könnte mir vorstellen, sie giert nach einer Salzgurke !
Seriously I'd do anything for Schwarzwälderkirschtorte right now😌
I feel u
I like carrot cake with icing.
Yum! That's not so easy to find in Germany though.
Supermarket there's pretty good carrot cake ( ok, only at my Norma )...
Cream cheese icing.
Rüblikuchen 🤤
I've a weakness for rich cakes in general, even fluff cake. Favourites are Schwarzwälder Kirsch, Käsekuchen, Marzipantorte, Schoko-Sahne, Frucht-Sahne, apple pie, or a good(!) Datschi.
Ich bin ganz einfach gestrickt. Erdbeerkuchen mit Sahne 🤤
I love Bienenstich! I make it as a professional baker and brush the layers with a Bärenjäger Simple Syrup for a special touch.
Looks delish, but can those beat Sonnenblumenkernbrötchen?
Haha, true ;)
Ja natürlich kein Brötchen kommt an Kuchen heran
Broetchen haben eine eigene Wertung. Man kann alles moegliche auf ein Broetchen legen oder es mit etwas bestreichen. Nur mit Kuchen oder Torte wird das nichts. 😂😂😂
The raspberry cake really mouthwatering.
Reisfladen ( milk rice cake) it is very popular in Aachen, a German City near the netherlands and belgium.
My favourite is Black Forest cake anytime! But in Germany I would probably have to bake it myself, cause I prefer the Black Forest "cake" with cherry juice, NOT kirswasser! Meaning, alcohol free🤗🎶
Frankfurter Kranz. Aber der richtige, der mit Butter... ^^
One of my favorite is Bienenstich
Nichts geht über ein schönes Stück Himbeer-Sahne-Torte
Der Beliebteste ist 'Dieser da!" der Zweitbeliebteste ist 'Nein, nicht dieser, der da!'
German cakes are the best! I left Germany in 1984. Would love a piece of Pflaumenkuchen.
Just make one by ourself! I make some every autumn and freeze them so I can have delicious cake during winter
The pear marzipan cake sounds delicious 🤤
My favourite is Sachertorte but only the way my mom bakes it XD
Frankfurter Kranz is very popular too, though I don't personally like it because of the butter cream
Wonderful guide Kate, keep on delighting us with your delicious and scrumptious work,...love your jovial, friendly style of presentation. Danke.
Thanks so much for your positive feedback!
I once made a deal with my mum. Whenever I'm bored, I don't complain about it if I'm allowed to bake something.
We have cake, like, almost every day now.
And because it's almost December, I started making the cookies Germans eat in Advent.
My brothers love me because of that deal xD
My favorite is "Bienenstich".
Butterkuchen also! Just love it!
Black forest gateux all the way! But the apple cake is nice too. 💯😎
You should try "Datschi"s, they're from southern germany . (hochdeutsch = Streuselkuchen)
Anna Lovegood leckeeer
Wir sagen Zwetschendatschi
I want a German girl friend with a German cake.
My favourite is a Filipino tea cake called torta mamon which has ten eggs, a cup and a half of butter, two cups milk and the rest. The best butter cake in the world. I find the Asians make the best cakes, their products are very refined.
Louella Wilson sounds delicious!!!
In the US are lots of people from Central and South America, and they make a possibly similar and delicious (!) cake called Tres Leches (three milks). So yummy!
GermanOnlineOSU sounds wonderful!
Thank you your cake looked so delicious I want a slice.
Thanks for watching!
I want a piece of Bienenstich, please
would love to try the Black Forest Cake
I never did care for that. I think because it's too wet and the cherries are too sour. I like the kind of cake that is a lot like that that has bananas and strawberries.
I prefer the plainer type of German cakes. Not stollen, but the sponges, or the like, that you can really eat when you are hungry.
Something like Streusselkuchen or these cakes with dough full of taste, texture and character
The cake seller knows her products. No such bakeries to be found in California or Washington
Well, because almost all of German professions, you have to do an Apprentniceship for mostley 2 or 3 years. Now this young Lady is , so it called in Germany, a Bäckereifachverkäuferin.
I know bakeries with lovely cake but the seller not informed ( Berlin ).
That pie looks delicious!
I don't know what it's called, but I saw it a lot in homes in 1973/74. You'd buy the sponge cake in the store, round with a depression in most of the middle and a ridge running around the cake's edge. Then you'd slice up and arrange fresh fruit in the center: kiwis, strawberries, peaches, etc. And then you'd fill the center with a clear gelatin (Tortenguß?). Seemed to be very popular at the time.
"Obstboden" literially "Fruit with ground", called in my region, Franconia. It is still popular, it is light and easy to make and i love it with fresh strawberries and whipped cream 😋😋😋
Ganz einfach Eiskaffee-Torte. Nach altem Familien Rezept.
The lattice apple cake or pie is the type usually found in the US. What they are missing out on is the deliciousness of Austrian style apple strudel, or cake.
A dough stretched whisper-thin, covered with apples chopped into small bits, sprinkled with cinnamon, then rolled up from the bottom end and formed into a circle. Served up hot and flakey, with a dusting of powdered sugar balancing out he tartness of the apples.
With or without whipped crème, it's delicious.
A favourite for childrens' parties (but not only) is the Feuerwehrkuchen (Fire Department Cake), with cherries, cream and chocolate flakes. Easy to make, can't go wrong with it.
If you have the chance, try a "Frankfurter Kranz". If you attempt to bake one yourself, remember that it has to rest for a day or even two until it is perfect.
Also note that if you serve any "Torte" (you would probably call this "gateau"), i.e. a relatively high, usually multi-layered cake like the one Kate ordered - to NEVER drop it on its side! It has to stand upright, no matter how convenient it would be to tip it over! I personally would prefer to drop it, but there has to be a law against it, judging from my mother's and grandmother's strong opinions about that matter... ;-)
Very nice report ! My Fav Black Forest Cake ! 🌹🌹
thanks god we have cafe selmarie in Chicago, where we can get the wonderful sachertorte.
That donauwelle sounded pretty tasty. The enticing cake would be the cherry cake filmed after the raspberry cake. We can all eat more cake by not eating sandwiches anymore.
My favourite cake is a lemon cake
My favourites are: Käsekuchen (from Café Einstein, Berlin UdL), Schwarzwälder Kirsch (from Rebstock Durbach), shiny pink Punschkrapfen (Ströck Vienna), Sachertorte (Hotel Sacher Vienna of course) and tarte aux pommes (ma belle mère)
Ulrich Lehnhardt they are all pretty much what I like too.

Ich nehme von allen ein Stück, bitte! :-D
There are so many outstanding cakes, but I know the ones in Austria more than those in Germany. A warm Apfelstrudel mit Vanillesauce is my favorite and I occasionally bake it at home. Oh WAIT! I just remembered: Frankfurter Kranztorte! Now that is a fabulous German torte.
wow this is so educational
Gefüllter Bienenstich ist mein Ding!
Meine Top 10 (alphabetisch):
Apfelkuchen mit Streuseln
Apfelmuskuchen (klassisch mit Karostreifen)
Bienenstich
Erdbeerkuchen
Mandarinen-Käsekuchen
Mohnkuchen
Russischer Zupfkuchen
Zitronenkuchen
Zucchinikuchen
Zwetschgenkuchen mit Streuseln
Verdammt, jetzt muss ich um halb eins in der Nacht backen gehen! :D
Ein anderer sehr beliebter Klassiker ist DIE ( !! ) Sachertorte. First time created for Fürst Metternich to celebrate the successfull end of the famous Vienna Congress, reorganized Europe after the Napoleonic Wars. The Hotel Sacher still owns the copyright for it. Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte is " lecker ", yes but it is a relativly modern creation from the beginning of the 20th century. Overall, a nice report from the heart.
Hello, Kate, Thanks for posting this.
Does a book exist with recipes for all the cakes made in Germany nowadays? I got what I thought was a modern compendium, instead, it was filled with just traditional German cakes.
those cakes looks so yummy..

I prefer Käsesahne and the Frensh Éclair
The one I like the most is German Chocolate cake, sweet and moist and very deliciously good
That's actually American. I always thought that the chocolate was a German variety, but it's named after a man whose last name was German.
