You never mentioned the mounting plate that you purchased. I also bought the same mailbox and mounting plate, but the mounting plate does not seem very well suited to this mailbox. For one thing, the bolts are ridiculously small and would require the purchase of extra washers.
Hi Scrippslarry. Good point, I recorded this in chronological order, laying out the parts I "thought" I needed. When it came to the actual install, the existing wood worked perfectly fine as a base.
If you have a lock, how would the postman get your outgoing mail?
Hi elgs1980. There's a clip on the inside of the door that is used for outgoing mail. You just slip the outgoing mail into the clip which prevents it from dropping down into the box. That said, I've been using USPS Collection Boxes for years.

I have this. While I love the box, the locks are junk. For the price, I'd have expected much better. I'm fully expecting to have to replace them at some point. Nice vid. Thank you. 👍

The problem with today's locking mailboxes did do not hide the keyhole and then it gets stuck where you can open it
How does the mailman get mail if you put the flag up?
Hi BigHorn. Good question, there's a clip on the inside of the top door. The mail carrier simply opens the door and slides the mail out of the clip. Unfortunately, you won't be able to mail out large items. That said, for security reasons, I usually drop off out going mail off at work or the post office since it's more secure.
Hello, what's the height of the opening for incoming mail? (How thick a box will fit inside the slot?) Thanks.
Hi mjsadvocate1, the opening is 9.7 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall. Hope this helps.
