    I have had this mailbox for 5 years and I love it because it has a back door so I don't have to step into the busy street. I also modified it so a flag drops on the back door when the mail arrives. Its pretty sturdy but you could replace the locks with better ones that are more pickproof.. I got mine at Lowes for $110.

    Can boxed packages fit into it, i.e., so the mailman can get them in there?

  • @phototristan

    My parents have a wall mount one that seems sturdier than this one. And it’s quite tall too so when they go on a long vacation the mail will just pile up in there for a long period of time securely.

    The problem with locking mailboxes they're showing the key holes these days instead of covering them up with something that's usually-friendly big enough but tight enough four big packages without having a huge mailbox

    My mailman is notorious for being Lazy and doesn't like to close no ones mailbox door. So now my mailbox is all broken and unfunctional because he left the door open and the automatic gate hit the door and completely tore it off. I'm wondering if with this type of mailbox will he still be able to leave the door open or will he Have to closed it to leave the mail? Thanks!

    • @therealhawkeyeii7888
      @therealhawkeyeii7888 2 года назад +2

      @@dnxl1821 We have folks who walk through my, and surrounding, neighborhoods in the early afternoon (when most people are at work) and open every mailbox as they walk, looking for packages they can snatch. Just saw someone doing that this afternoon, a "teen" wearing jeans and a black hoodie with hood up over his head, even though it was in the middle 80s and sunny. No point calling the police. They tell you it's not their jurisdiction, and that you need to call the Post Office and file a complaint, and that leads to zero action on anyone's part.

  • @7474jd
    @7474jd 5 лет назад +2

    Yes it's massive, but keep in mind the slot where mail goes in is tiny and things won't be stacked neatly on the bottom. Packages that would fit in a normal box aren't going to go in this so you'll have smaller packages left at the door and might want to keep that in mind if people are terrible enough to steal your mail.

    • @onza04
      @onza04  5 лет назад

      It was bad for a few yrs in MN. For me having the mailbox keeps the mind at ease when 99% of the other boxes are still regular style boxes still. Plus we can got a few days and not check it and still feel comfortable! Not 100% secure, but it's better than 0%! As always the choice is yours be a victim or make it annoying for them!

    • @onza04
      @onza04  5 лет назад

      @@ivanscountrymusicandcars2357 148lbs for a mailbox is a little nutty. I think if you live in a rural area where you consistently have theft it would be a good investment. But in a city like surrounding, most robbers are looking for quick hit / run opportunities. Just by having a simple lock on my box, I feel will deter them. If they want it they will take it, regardless of what mailbox you own.
