Thanks Jason for sharing the ride. And thanks for taking the time to edit and add the helpful text comments and directions. I was not aware of several of the detours that you take. I enjoyed the ride! - Bill, Oro Valley, AZ
Beautiful ride! I grew up in Ventura (I lived there until 1993), and I never took the train from there to anywhere. Granted, when we camped along the Rincon, we'd see/hear them go by, which was fun! I like your occasional commentary and the comments on the video!
I really love the video. Thank you very much, but I'm gonna tell you something. You need to be careful even if it's just a 1/2 mile on that freeway at 1 hour and 50 minutes extremely extremely. Yes, you heard me say that several times very dangerous. I've heard of people getting rear-ended at 70 or 80 miles an hour, and on a bicycle. You're gonna meet the stars real quick. Please don't do that next time you can go around that section. I thought you guys already knew that. Anyway, great video and the pickup truck guy in the white truck was an absolute idiot😊
Great job and thanks!!! I'm headed up there in about 2 hours to ride from Ventura Harbor to Rincon and back. HOW FUN!! You really did a great job on this, loved it!!
@@jharris-pdxrides Thanks Jason, its now officially "had" as we just got home. Your video was so spot-on and I'm stoked we found it.... My wife and I are in our mid 60's and I used to windsurf/kiteboard C-street but we never thought about riding the path until we saw your film! Stayed at Pierpont Inn as we have before, and made it to Rincon and back before sunset. SO MUCH FUN! That coastline is raw and pristine like San Onofre where we also ride. We are on 2000w scooters, but we got mad-respect for all the bicyclers riding into that wind!! Thanks again for the inspiration, we are going to come back in a few weeks and do it again! Happy rides, Jason! Kai.
I wonder if you'll film the new bridge on Cornelius Pass Road. The bridge goes between Reed's Crossing and Butternut Creek. Also 209th Avenue finally has 5 lanes of traffic and the intersection at TV Highway got upgraded with new equipment.
Yes, I will be doing a South Hillsboro update video this fall as a follow up to the video from this spring. I shot some footage already of the bridge and 209th recently just before being opened that I will include.
@jharris-pdxrides Jason, do you know if there are plans to extend the Rincon path to include the section that now requires the rider to enter the freeway at Bates road? Also, how do you learn about future trail extension plans (such as this one.), in general? Would I usually need to inquire with the municipalities' transportation department, or ?
Yep, there are well developed plans to extend the trail between the end of Carpinteria Ave and the current start of the trail at Bates road. This would bypass both the Bates/Rincon Hill climb route and the freeway ramps route. I do not know if an alternative has been decided on yet, or if it has received funding/construction plan. But here it is on the City of Carpinteria website: tinyurl.com/yd9hz7ua Generally the county/city websites planning or transportations office pages are the best place to search for planning docs. I think I found the one above just Googling it.
Hi Bryan, I made a cleaned up version of it here where you can send it to your device, or download it in multiple formats. It includes the stop at Carpinteria Beach and at the end of Seaward St, in Ventura. ridewithgps.com/routes/48628149
Terrific ride, thanks so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! It was my first time on a train in CA. and was a great way to shuttle the bikes.

@@jharris-pdxrides Great thanks Jason for the feedback. Good to know. Your videos are helpful to me for locating safe riding in the SoCal area. - Bill
Do you have the strava or gpx file for this route?
