    I spent many years in the US Navy and then in industry and I enjoyed fixing and maintaining equipment and got a great deal of joy of keeping everything humming. When problems came up, restoring operability quickly was very rewarding to me. To each his/her own.

    With the combination of Chef Dean & Chef Leandri - there is no Giga Yacht, Mega Yacht, Super Yacht, Fishing Boat or Canoe anywhere on the face of the planet where the crew is not better fed than by these two. One browse through Chef Leandri's Insta this is food porn at its finest. How lucky to be Crew on Arience. They've set the bar to a completely different level and they truly care about what the Crew should eat and wants to eat. Can only imagine being a Guest of the Owner or a Charter Guest. If I were the Captain, I would be locking these two into multi-year contracts and a handsome pay rise.

    • @johngammon7891
      @johngammon7891 4 года назад

      I don't believe it's up to the Captain to determine the pay, I could be totally wrong, but I think it's up to the owner on what the crew budget will be, maybe on a sliding scale for what skills each person brings onboard with them...jmo

      @@xReboundRantz I guess that would depend on how many kitchens the yacht has. I'm sure it would be down to the chef to decide, although the owner could too. The owner does have a duty to properly provide for their crew though, but kitchen access is not a right.

    Coming up on 30 years ago, I needed a "food handler's card" for a position. The class I took to get that card, was also word for word regarding gloves. People wearing gloves would not change their gloves as often as people not wearing gloves would wash their hands. Handling raw meats, esp poultry, was the circumstance where gloves were recommended. And then it was part of the protocol to prevent cross-contamination.

    Very intetesting video Jared. When I've watched Below Deck, I am very surprised there is only one chef that makes all charter guest and crew meals. With yachts of that size with crews that size, doesn't it make sense to have a sous chef that makes crew meals and assists the chef with charter guest meals? It strikes me that a second person could also do breakfasts and late night snacks for guests, taking some of the pressure off the chef as well as shortening his or her day.

    She has such an adorable personality! It was great to have this new knowledge of how things go "behind the scenes" and especially to hear how operations on M/Y _Arience_ differ from previous yachts (and from both perspectives, it sounds better!). Liandri seems so nice and that smile is infectious. ;) She's easy on the eyes, too.

    WOW, you guys have a gorgeous looking chef, omg. I work in the casino gaming industries an we don't have chef's looking this great but really she is so cute. The food looked great as well. Knowing how to cook multiple types of food from many different countries must be a challenge. Imagine a guest asking for a mixture of Taiwanese & Japanese rice with an Australian mix of veggies and Romanian style beef just because they can and you have to find a way to make it for them. That would stress me out.

    I'm curious to know what the budget is for crew provisions. How much is spent (on average) per crew member, either per day, or per meal.

    • @superyachtchef
      @superyachtchef 4 года назад +5

      $7-10 usd per day per crew, depending on storage and duties.

    There must be something wrong with the algorithm, this should have 100k views by now. Amazing video Jared.

      At the moment, there is no one at youtube HQ to go through content so views are down for most creators.

    I worked in the food industry for about 8 years, and I get the comment about loving to cook, but not necessarily cleaning. I used to clean as I go and clean as required. After I left the industry and cooked only for myself, I tend not be so diligent in the cleaning. It kind of means that I really do not cook anymore.
