Bro I’ve learned so much from watching this video on wiring … I’ve been wanting to understand wiring it’s crazy. I can do all the other mechanical work like brakes , tune up etc….this give me life. I’m currently building an olds cutlass with a 5.3 and your videos is literally helping understand ls swaps. Thanks for these videos
Just an FYI that is a factory floor shift car, the SS used back drive linkage to rotate the column, NS / reverse light switch stayed on the column. Also that black plastic piece of the wire is a splice cover, the fusable link is a sacrificial wire. Good luck with the swap.
@Krusty classic garage….bro you are the shit you actually went through the whole hook up and actually made the process understandable wire by wire and I appreciate you for this video bro thanks and yes I’m going to support your shirt for sure thanks and keep these videos coming
The harness with the 1 red wire coming from the starter wires (with the two cut off green wires) is for the factory AC. The other end of that harness is near the AC box. 1 green wire went to the idle control solenoid on the side of the carburetor and the other went to the Ac compressor.
if it is not the neutral safety switch I have had a couple of columns do the same thing there is a piece of a aluminum that the rod from the key switch hooks into that could be broken or cracked the bad part of it is the column has to be taken apart to replace it. just a thought
Dumb question. So the wire that you tie into the harness that is hot on cranking and running. Does that have to be full 12v or if my car has a resistor wire that does this (I want to say it was 7v or 8v) would that work? Worst case, I could use that to trigger a relay to get the full 12v I would think. Like the others, I feel your pain but like that you put in your "acoustic" moments....
I trust ur choice in the wire harnesses cause you’ve proven it works but the reviews scaring me off this my first Ls swap /2000 Pontiac Firebird -4l60e of course I just wanna get it right what are ur further opinions on the harness?
@@Jrdhashoota-17 Well I've shown actual in person reviews while using it. The only thing I've been asked quite a few times is o2 sensors not reading and why, when trying to be tuned. I have not dealt with that personally as of now. But now that Im getting into tuning I may or may not run in to it. If I do, I will post about it.
@@krustyclassicsgarage that’s a bet I’m 18 and as I said this my first ls swap I’m just tryna make sure of everything but I appreciate you for responding nice video
@ryanhicks942 was going to cut out about 30 minutes worth of it but decided to show how things really go when working on cars. I'm not here to get 1 million subscribers, just here to help, so oh well.
Appreciate you you not cutting out the “learning moments”

Try turning the column itself, right after the ignition switch that should do it.
I feel your pain bro its always 40 hrs of diagnoses and a 1 minute fix😂😂😂😂
The transmission shifter on transmission needs hooked up the bar to transmission too steering column
if it is not the neutral safety switch I have had a couple of columns do the same thing there is a piece of a aluminum that the rod from the key switch hooks into that could be broken or cracked the bad part of it is the column has to be taken apart to replace it. just a thought
Had the same key issue on my moms 84 grand prix. Safety switch on the shifter

O and pull hard on the fuseable link wire if the plastic breaks that’s the problem
lol all that for a pissy ground wire😂 man that would’ve ran me into the red !!!
I damn I should’ve watched too the before saying anything 🤦🏻♂️ atleast you figured it out
I love wiring guess it's just me 😂
make sure the lever on the column is push all the way up
Ghetto anti theft
Quick question, for any LS is a dOD delete necessary if you’re just dropping in unopened engine? Or is it best to dod delete all of them
@@showtimemyles9643 DoD started with gen 4. Best to delete but you can tune out the dod/afm and get some more life out of the lifters.
Thank you
From the battery too the body
The extra wire goes the the blower i think
Shifter on the column needs turned to park
What you charge to walk me through step by step on wiring
No need to kick yourself for a simple issue. The only person that this hasn't happened to is the people who haven't worked on automobile.
That four way plug goes to the ac
That was one of my guesses but as far as what I see on the AC side of the engine bay. I don't see a plug for it.
1st lol
So your ground ain’t working maybe
