Jean Ruffaut recorded this side as part of his residency at Troy’s Lounge and Whiskey bar in Montauk. 700 were pressed in the hopes of gaining repeat customers but only 10 were sold. The rest were committed to the dumpster. Troy (owner of the lounge bar) later said “I’ve got no idea what I was thinking. I thought the heavy rock that the hippies were listening to was just a phase and people would want a return to modern lounge jazz. Because Jean was French, we thought French label Lisse would have known how to handle the release but they just sent us the lot with a letter that said ‘des Américains idiots avec un cerveau de burger au fromage. Tu penses que le smooth jazz est tellement fantastique. Les enfants adorent le rock and roll. Sors ta tête de tes fesses’…. Damn hippies”.
