I felt I knew Paul. I considered him my friend, although he did not know me. I spent every July with he and Phil for the past 20 years. His sudden passing in December was a shock. I want to thank the organizers of this memorial service for Paul for sharing it with all his friends around the world. He is missed.

Paul was one the reason why I fell in love with cycling. He described the pain as if you were there because this is the environment he created! God Bless his legacy and keep riding!

Thank you so much for making this service available to those of us who may have never known Paul personally,. but whose lives he touched nonetheless. Paul helped me to become a better fan of the sport, which has helped enrich my life immeasurably.

The Tour still doesn't seem the same without Paul.
Only had chance to meet him once and it was to receive a pair of Raleigh Banana shorts at our club dinner for winning some race or other, where Paul was the guest speaker. I jokingly asked him when I got them, as they weren't in a package, "you did wash them, right?" He replied with a smile "they weren't mine so you might want to rinse them out before you check." That was back in 87/88.
I left England in 99 and seeing the Cathedral that I knew fondly from seeing it every time I went to the old Harry Hall's bike shop brought back so many memories. Glad I found this video. Thanks for posting this.

Thank you for sharing this video, and to Paul’s family for allowing it to be recorded and shared. I, like millions around the world, felt like I knew Paul, and felt a great loss when I heard that he had passed away. To be able to see the ceremony brings great comfort.

I've only just seen this after 2 years ... what a lovely tribute to a man I held very dear in my heart after working with him over a decade of cycling on the Tour Down Under, Tour de Langkawi, the TdF and numerous Worlds Champs. Always a gentlemen, a professional and a man of substance, humanity, humour and charm. Paul had the biggest heart and smile in the world of cycling. As someone who also had a big love with an Ugandan musician who was in exile from the country after the Amin era I was so heartened by his work in Uganda and that he gave so much love and effort into bringing up the community in which he called home in later years. Thank you to all who spoke and all who loved him. We shall never forget him or stop feeling the love that he shared and made us feel.

That was such a lovely tribute to such a lovely man. Thank you for sharing this with the world. It helps bring a little bit of closure to such a sudden & unexpected loss. It still seems surreal that we won't hear his icon voice during the spring classics, the Tour de France, Tour of California, etc. Heartfelt blessings to his family, friends & community. 💙 🙏🚲🦓

Thank you for posting this. I was stunned by the loss of Paul a few years back and didn't realize this had been posted. As a huge fan of cycling Phil and Paul were integral in introducing me to the ins/outs of professional cycling over 20 years ago. His impact on the sport was huge and will be sorely missed.

Whilst going to fill up the Raleigh Banana team car, a woman crashed into me.
    Paul was extremely sarcastic!
Great bloke, the most focused person I've ever met.

The 2019 Tour De France is not the same and hard to watch without Paul Sherwen & Phil Liggett's riveting commentary. The current SBS lineup is very amateurish especially live at trackside. SBS's stalwarts Mike Tomalaris, cook Gabriel Gate & the professional Robbie Mc Kewen there must all cringe.

His daughter Margaux and his wife Katherine both speak with an American accent with just a slight trace of a British accent. Wonder why?
