  • GERMANY: "Traffic light coalition governs SO badly!" - CDU General Secretary Linnemann's devastating criticism
Chancellor Olaf Scholz is under considerable pressure because the poll ratings of his party, the SPD, and his own are disastrous. In his government statement, he spoke of collegial discussions about the budget, which sparked laughter in the plenary. CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann said in an interview with WELT that the budget negotiations could break up the coalition if no agreement is reached. Another controversial issue is the withdrawal of citizen's allowance for Ukrainians. CSU politician Alexander Dobrindt is considering sending certain refugees back to Ukraine. JU head Johannes Winkel is calling for the protection status to be withdrawn from Ukrainian men who are required to do military service. Linnemann sharply criticized the citizen's allowance and is calling for a switch to the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act to avoid false incentives. He stresses that people who can work must work, otherwise there would be no social benefits.
Today, the cabinet decided to tighten the deportation law. Anyone who approves of terrorist violence or likes it online should be deported, according to Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser. Linnemann supports these measures and also calls for the German passports of dual passport holders to be revoked. However, he criticizes the fact that often only announcements are made without concrete actions being followed. He sharply criticizes the traffic light government and calls on it to finally take action, as the poor government work of the traffic light coalition is also having a negative impact on other parties.
