    Just finished planting my herb plot and saw that you're using Marjoram, I'll have to add that to my garden now :) , LIver is not my favorite but I think this recipe will tame the flavor and give me another way to use it when I butcher a fattened steer this fall. Would like to see a video tour of your garden and know of other things you grow to use in your recipes.

      I made a couple of videos of my garden last spring and published them on my facebook page. This year I have barely done anything else than planting herbs, so far. I am way behind schedule and I am afraid this year I will not grow a lot. Gardening in Texas is a real challenge, not only because of the climate but also because of the bugs which either eat my crop or me ;-)
      I agree on your feeling about liver. It's not my favorite thing to eat but this recipe might make you change your view on liver. Just make sure you have enough salt in the recipe! My mom used to put liver in buttermilk over night before she fried it with onion rings and apple slices - I actually liked that as a child. The buttermilk seems to reduce the intense taste of liver.

      @@MyGermanRecipesAgree Texas and where I live in Oklahoma is challenging, such a small window of moderate temperatures between too hot and too cold especially for tomato blossom set.

    I have no idea how you are switching between the forward and above poiny of view, but the above view is a great inclusion in your videos 😊 btw, that type of machine is commonly known in English as a food processor.

    Very unique dish. Btw, I think you could also have used an ice cream scoop to shape those dumplings as it would have been easier. (If you have one that is)😃

      You are right, I’ll try the ice cream scoop next time! 👍

    BTW... I am looking for a good recipe for Semmel-Knoedel, they go so well with sauere Lunge. LOL. Have you made a video for that? 😎

      The recipe is on the blog and video channel. My Semmel Knödel are with bacon in it but if you prefer them without, just skip that part. Other than that: This is the only Semmel Knödel recipe you will ever need :-) I make them all the time.

    The word “marjoram” came up on the transcript wrong. It reads “my run”. I think many ppl may not clearly understand the word. I guessed.

    The recipie you posted on facebook used beef as well in the dumplings. Is this common or regional. I was in Bavaria and I don't know if the dumplings we had there had beef.

    • @MyGermanRecipes
      @MyGermanRecipes  4 года назад

      I am not sure what you are referring to. On facebook I only post links to my videos and blog post. Both contain liver but no beef. Here is the blog post mygerman.recipes/liver-dumplings-leberknodel/
      Do I miss something or is this maybe a mix up with a different recipe?

    The way my mother cooked liver would turn anybody off to eating it; it was HORRIBLE!. After I was on my own I read how to properly cook liver and have grown to love it.

      Hi Thomas,
      My mom used to soak the liver in buttermilk over night. That way it tasted much better and as a child I liked it with fried onion rings and apple slices - all made in the same pan. How do you cook liver?

    • @thomashubbell8612
      @thomashubbell8612 5 лет назад

      MyGerman Recipes I usually salt it down for a couple of hours, rinse it, then soak it in milk. I then flour it, sauté quickly to just brown outside. I remove the liver from the pan, lightly sauté sliced onions, then put the liver back into the pan with some of the onions under and over the liver. I then add some beef broth or water, put on a tight-fitting lid and put in a 250 degree oven for an hour. It comes out in its own gravy.

    Its a shame they lose their colour, it looks like they would go well cooked in a tomato base sauce and served with rice or spaghetti. Thanks for the recipe
