In high school our coach bought some terrible practice balls, they were rock hard. Our kicker could thump spiral bombs a mile in the air. I caught one once and it broke two fingers and tore the skin between my fingers so much so that I needed stitches.
I was at ireland v New zealand in 2021. Beauden barret did one and still to this day it was the highest kick I have ever seen. (EDIT: Just watched the video and the kick I am talking about is at 1:40)

Hope these feature more with the new laws around access for kickers!

Unreal
Skill trying to catch them
George Ford is an expert at these. Has one of the best spiral bombs in the modern game.
Went to a kicking clinic run by Wilko just before 2003 RWC and he was talking about spiral bombs then.
I used to be able to kick a spiral over those mountains out over there.
It’s soooo hard to catch
Fr
Earl Rose still kicks these in club rugby. Absolute nightmare.
Do his team mates have to keep their golf clubs away from him? 🤣
The torp!!!
Humorous watching pro players look like kids trying to catch these!!! XD
We can look forward to endless box kicks with the new law.
What is the new law?
Used to be called an up and under.
Not every up and under is a spiral bomb. It’s a specific technique that allows you to get more air time or distance at the cost of risking accuracy.
