Ah yes, Hifumi:
- Casually visits the black market like it was Tuesday.
- Leads a bank heist with 5 students she has just met for a few hours.
- Organizes the state's premier artillery battalion to assault the military base of the biggest corporation.
- Drives a motorcycle through a bulletstorm to take her exam.
- Steals a tank to leave school and enjoy her summer holiday.
- Gives a speech so powerful it parted clouds and changed the weather.
_Most normal girl in Kivotos._
Anyway, glad you finally caught up to the climax of Vol. 3! There's even more good stuff after all this - but you know that. Though my favorite bit still remains sensei's answer to the 5th koan 😝
Hifumi? No no no, it's Mr. Faust!
Hifumi *looks* normal, but she sure ain't normal at all. I'm honestly so excited to play chapter 4 for today's livestream. Volume 3 has been an insanely awesome rollercoaster of a ride to experience!
If some theories are correct, Hifumi's mystic is Raphael, archangel of wind(clearing the sky with her speech), archangel of love(Nagisa repeatedly praises her compassion), and most importantly, *THE PROTECTOR OF THE GARDEN OF EDEN*. Also since the three leaders are suspected to be the other three archangels, it's only natural that Hifumi has the privilege of attending the Tea Party despite being a "normal" student.
I don’t see Seia as overconfident, I see her as someone who doesn’t mince her words. She believes in the same nihilism that Arius does. After all, she can see the future. In her eyes, fate is foretold. You know what’s gonna happen next, what’s the point in fighting it? Also hanako did say she was someone who was difficult to get along with when describing her. However, her real flaw is her fear. Yes Seia can use her dreams to see the future, but as Sensei said she HASNT seen it. Why? Because she’s scared, at least as Sensei predicts. Friends and others are all in danger, hurting and suffering in this story. She has rewatched these events from the past to in current time over and over, but like sensei believes, she’s never peeked past that point. She’s too afraid of seeing them suffer even more. She believes that their story is over because that’s what it looks like is happening and she’s too scared to check if that’s really the case.
Anyways, GOATHARU STOPPING BULLYING AT THE SOURCE 😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏TRUE JUSTICE! (Mini note, don’t forget that koharu’s EX can both heal allies and do damage to enemies depending on who’s in the AOE, and can both heal and hurt at the same time, so don’t be afraid to hit enemies with it!)
Lastly, we finally got to the part where the name “Blue Archive” is explained. Blue is the color of youth, and an Archive is a collection of anything really, but here it’s talking specifically about stories. So put the two together and you get Blue Archive: The stories of our youth. And that plus Hifumi’s declaration puts one big thing into perspective not a lot of people seem to realize: Sensei is not nor ever will be the *main* character of Blue Archive. The Students are. It’s the stories of THEIR youth, sensei isn’t a youth. This game is less one main character helping several side characters through their stories, and more several main characters with one supporting character that we follow and act through. It’s part of what makes blue archive great in the first place, and why the writing in each part is excellent. Because each story could be their own independent story. The main thing linking them together is us. Sensei. It also has an additional layer of sense when we’ve had confirmation from the devs that Sensei as a person is “someone who has completed their life journey already.” Now it’s our turn to help the main characters’ do the same.
Personally, I still think that she was overconfident to a good degree, maybe not in an arrogant sense but rather, it was more along the lines of "I know that *THIS* will be the result so there is no point in looking beyond that", (at least in the EN text version since the JP seems to be different), due to the combination of her belief in the nihilism and her fear of the future.
So that's what Koharu's EX does. Thank you for the explanation!
I am very glad that sensei isn't the actual TRUE protagonist of Blue Archive -- and in that sense, it's very smart of them to do it this way so that it elongates the lifespan of the game more.
hanako must be disappointed, that the masked swimsuit gang isnt robbing banks in just swimsuits...
LOLL now that you mention it, she probably is. hahahaha
Well, they actually do that in summer event :v
Finally, Ririna experiencing.
Hifumi summoning the [Masked Mizugi Gang] and being Main Speaker for the the [True Eden Treaty Organization].
Also Hina needs a vacation and lots of headpats.
THAT was honestly my favorite part of the entire volume. Hifumi being badass af in the most unexpected way! haha
And yes, Hina definitely needs a vacation.
Hina needs headpats and Salonpas... Her body must've been sore from how long she fought...TBH, everyone needs Salonpas in this chapter... XD
@@Trailblazer_Ririna she's our light 😭😭😭
Hifumi is truly our Blue Archive.
The most protagonist energy so far.
BEST PROTAG IN BLUE ARCHIVE!
Perhaps you figured it out at this point, but in case you need THAT kind of RUclips comment...
Mimesis is a philosophical term from ancient Greece, and is the origin of the word 'mimic.' Put short, it's an explanation of how we see and understand the world. When you think of a gun, you can see it as 'a tool of self-defense' or 'a tool for murd3r.' Both perspectives are right, and yet neither is fully right. Like this, mimesis can be defined as optimized but incomplete conceptualization of the world. Simply put, it's a method of how we understand reality.
In BA Mimesis a copy of certain object or concept, in this case the Saint Justina Council. Remember Nagi and Mika talking about how they would have pried off people's fingernails? Also remember what Hinata explained about their duty? The Council was a formidable guardian of Trinity, as the enforcers of the First Council. Arius and Maestro "stole" that concept, manipulated how they see it (by gaslighting the F out of the poor students), and created "an invincible army that protects the ETO and destroys anyone who says otherwise."
Mimeis will appear again in Hanako(swimsuit) event. I think it will rerun in half a year or so. There you will see the same St.Justina Council, but they act entirely different from the ones we saw now. It's because those ones are based on a different perspective of St.Justina. Same origin, different perspectives. Therefore different beings. I can stretch this further since this mimesis thing connects the fifth koan itself, but it's already deep enough so I'll stop here. Can't wait to see your reactions on chapter 4. The peak isn't over yet!
Thank you for explaining about the Mimesis. Was a tad confused about that, so your explanation is answering a lot of my questions that I had! Might need to refer back to your comment from time to time as a refresher though.
Just as additional info, mimesis is also what two assault bosses, Shiro and Kuro, are called, which possibly ties to one phrase Hanako said when she was brainstorming, the one about 'rumors about theme park' or so.
@@ibrahimarticov6978 Communio Sanctorum too, from Ambrosius she fought just here, Hieronymus as the final boss of this chapter, to the infamous Gregorius. Specifically the communion of saints series is the one Maestro started working on in this very story.
@@엘제-k9u yeah, I was in doubt about the Hieronymus, tbh. Thanks for confirming that.
Fun fact. (May or may not know)
In the original beta, and even in early version of Blue archive release.
Suzumi's Gun used to have a Arius Quote same With Azusa, Meaning In early character, Suzumi might be a spy that changes later to Azusa. Ofc when Azusa was released in Closed Beta. Suzumi is also there.
After the release of the game Suzumi's Sprite with Arius Quote was remove. However her Chibi version, Still has the Quote in her gun. It was change later.
I remember hearing about Suzumi being a supposed Arius spy and that it changed to Azusa instead because she was more popular, or something along those lines!
1:33:30 and that is the story of how the Trinity Tea Party mob (specifically Pater faction) becomes the most hated generic npc mob character in the game. It's also the moment that I came to appreciate Koharu's character because we got to see by helping Mika (despite everything Mika did) that Koharu's justice knows no bounds. Truly a Justice Task Force Elite.
Also shoutout to Sena, Serina, and Hanae for patching us up. Medic really is an angel of the battlefield.
Dang, poor Pater faction (maybe). XD But honestly, yeah, Koharu is one of the best characters at Trinity for that reason alone. Her justice really is wonderful! And definitely a lot of shoutouts to the medics!
I absolutely adore Mika’s unhinged expressions. Especially the “slaughter time” one.
Unhinged Mika = Best Mika 🤪
Let's go!!!
The Hifumi speech!
BEST HIFUMI!
58:00
*smokes* In the business we call this foreshadowing.
2:01:56
Is kinda ironic she said that, I cannot say more because is spoilers of volume 1 chap 3 but remember this moment for the near future.
Now~ this is going to be a long comment v:
I want to say one of my biggest problem here and is the localization, I don't know if you hear but BA have a problem with localization changes that seems... questionable but it got kinda fix... ish now. One big example are the name of the episodes, episodes 17 real name is "Hatred's True Colors" and some of dialogue are a little different, you also point out how Nagisa, Mika and Seia are not really friends but is a localization problem that makes you believe that they never where. Especially when the main theme of the Eden treaty is faith in your friends in dire situations and how hate and mistrust lead to meaningless pain to the point of believing that's the world works, the Tea party and the Make-Up Work Club are meant to show that. Now better stop talking about that otherwise this is going to be longer text but one last thing, that Hina scene was more intimate in Japanese.
Hatred's true colors, I love this scene. It show Mika's empty hereditary hatred for Gehenna one that blind her to the point of "killing" her friends and hurt a lot of innocent people and many time she asked herself "Why I'm doing this?" again hatred that breads needless and meaningless pain.
I realize while tyoing this is too long and you haven't finished Chapter 3 so it can spoiler sooooooooooo.
Is not only that Seia is overconfident is that she became kinda nihilistic because of her prophecies, she believes the it cannot be change ( or that what she thinks but she is afraid to find out )
Hifumi!😭 Our light!😭😭 her speech is one the best moment of this game, this is why she is the "main protagonist" of Blue Archive. She is the embodiment of an ordinary girl because she's !The story of youth!
That's all for now c:
Have a good day Riri
Sometimes, I feel like I should just play it in KR text and just see the actual meaning behind things. So much gets lost in translation. But if I play it in KR, then no one will understand. Same with JP. I guess I'll continue to depend on players, such as yourself, to fill in the missing blanks or the misconceptions (due to mistranslations).
Somehow, Mika's empty hereditary hatred for Gehenna really reminds me of the Fishman Island arc in One Piece. In there, we can see just how much empty discrimination and hatred can perpetuate needless and meaningless pain -- and create an endless cycle of pain that serves no good purpose for the future generations. It's very interesting how stories can parallel and reflect very similar themes! Makes it a lot of fun to connect the dots and enjoy the interpretation.
@Trailblazer_Ririna OMG! I think you are the first person who finally says that!! Everyone else I have talked about does not watch One Piece 🫠
Sorry, but it's just one last thing I forgot in the last comment. "If you think is underwear, and not a swimsuit, then is underwear" the fact that the writers took a silly phrase from the beginning of the volume, that emphasize what is faith and why we is important it's just 👌 chef kiss. Peak fiction Riri, peak fiction.
Man this Volume is always good and there's so much character building for pretty much everyone, the Tea Party, the Make up work club, Trinity, Gehenna etc
It's also the first time we learn that Hina idolizes Hoshino and just another step outside of the players meta perspective that Hoshino is considered a big deal in universe. Just so good!
By the way on a side note have you considered manually adjusting the RAM the game uses? It seems to have had some stuttering during the last few battles.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS, I am absolutely salivating over all of the character building and development. I LOVE IT ALL!!!
I'm actually switching to my iPad (starting with the next VOD that is being released), so it should be a lot more smoother from now on. Noticed how laggy it was getting, so had to make some changes regarding that!
Oh boy... BA Mondays!!! Just in time that its my day off... I can enjoy this... And Hifumi!!! Finally!!! Our light finally stood up!!!
YAY!!! Hope you enjoy it to the fullest on your day off!
2:01:52 Surprise Hoshino lore/backstory.
We never learned what happened to her senpai in Vol 1, but we did learn her name, or at least the name that Hoshino calls her by.
Still need to learn more about Hoshino at this point.
1:06:00 Something like "With enough prep time Azusa can defeat Hina/Saori/Tsurugi" should go here...
Azusa... our best girl, aside from Hifumi!
It's a sad trend I see in media discussion online lately that people can't differentiate analysis of an interesting, intentionally flawed character from an attack on them as a person.
That is very true. I assume that it's because they're so passionate about the character that it eventually becomes a part of them. It's not a bad thing for the writers since it shows that they did a wonderful job at creating the story, but it can be a bad thing for those who want to discuss about the story in depth with others.
Plus, I believe that if a story can make someone dislike and then appreciate/like a character later down the road, then it means that the story is doing its job and is VERY well written. So that's why I want the story to convince me and to let me experience the characters' growths and development, instead of having others do the work, because seeing those changes myself are what's most fun about consuming stories!
Azusa already have a strong heart even before she meet sensei, and she actually go up from despair with her own power. Hifumi literally blue archive-ing the whole situation. Hanako taking the lead role when everything goes down. Return of the swimsuit masked gang. Hina need a sleep, like a loong sleep. And Koharu's justice, she doesn't see position, group , faction etc. She just saw a person bullied so she stop it, i'll say this again and again many students have their own brand of justice but koharu's justice is my favourite one
YESSSSSSSSSS, Koharu has the best justice (or at least, it's one of my favorites for sure)! The Make Up Work Club being "stronger" than the rest! hehe
1:57:20 Hanako meeting her heroes
YESSSSSSSS
More fun translation facts!
Hifumi’s speech at 2:06:27 , the absolute highlight of this chapter, is fully voiced in Japanese. Therefore, it’s obviously the same across all versions, right? I mean, it’s already in Japanese!
WRONG
There are actually 2 versions of the speech, one for the global server, and one for the Japanese server. Even though both are technically in Japanese, the Japanese server gets a different speech than we do.
Compared to the global version, the Japanese version has a lot more colloquialisms. It is, in a way, more “casual” than the global version. Less like a prepared speech written beforehand, and more like a high school girls’s emotional outburst. Japanese, with its varying levels of “polite speech”, can be very challenging to translate to. An English sentence can have a bunch of possible Japanese translations that are all technically correct but feel completely diffrent. I think the fact that the localizers went through the trouble of rewriting and re-recording the speech just so it fits Japanese!Hifumi’s “normal schoolgirl” characterization better goes to show how much the localizer cares about the story - and how much Nexon cares about the Japanese audience.
Minor nuanced differences like this really shows how a good translation is not merely translating word-for-word, but considering how a character is portrayed and how that can be conveyed in another language. Good translations keep mannerisms and characterization intact. Great translations enhances existing characterization by using the target languages’ unique grammatical features.
I think it’s worth listening to the Japanese version and comparing the two, if you understand Japanese. Look up “ブルアカ宣言” on RUclips and you should find it. Yes, the Japanese community named this speech “The Blue Archive Declaration”. It really is the core themes and ideas of the game, summed up in one beautiful moment.
Ooo, thank you for the translation facts! That was very interesting to read through~
Oh wow, this is my 2nd EN watchalong and 60+ JP playthroughs and I didn't notice this but you're right! The Global really fits the "normal girl" expectations Hifumi was describing, but JP was a straight up emotional outburst from the heart. I prefer the JP version more to fit the impact but the Global has a better message
Ahhh yess mika......our unhinged princess,
The unhinged princess who is consumed by so much guilt.
@@Trailblazer_Ririna and that's why we sensei must guide her, good luckk fellow sensei
Wow you really poured your heart out when reading Mika’s lines 1:42:13

It was quite a fun moment to voice~ I mean painful moment.... yeah... XD
Ngl, Sena just did a Hacksaw Ridge for the whole chapter. One of the MVP's.
I managed to catch this live was so good
YESSSSSS, this was a very fun livestream~
THIS IS SOO HYPEE
My favorite so far for sure! Now I see why people love Volume 3 so much!
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Im now at my 1 hr mark watching this but OH MYY GOODDD WHY IS THIS BETTER WITH YOUR VOICE OVER
@@lyzee1199 hehehe I'm happy that my voice over is enhancing the experience~ I assume it's the scene with Azusa and Hifumi breakup? 🤪
@@Trailblazer_Ririna hehehehe probably, but really it's mostly everything. Even Seia sounded so cool (even though she don't have her VA 😭😭)

The Saori voice, impossing and Hiyori is so impeccable.
haha gotta love voicing an imposing Saori~
I don't think Mika will every truly recover from the guilt, but (no spoiler) Sensei will provide so much comfort to her down the line.
NOOOOOO, MIKAAAAAAA!! Even so, I do hope that we get to see her redeem herself (if I can call it that, or maybe, make up for the things that happened) a lot more later down the road. Makes me look forward to that honestly!
@@Trailblazer_Ririna you need to pull her to see what happens to her afterward.
Wait, she's level 35? The Hieronymus boss gonna be a pain 😭😭😭
It'll be fineeeeeeeee
Chapter 3 so far id ky favorite one and im worried that 4 snd 5 wont be nearly as good
😢 yeah...
It's not the same person who wrote Volume 3 and volume F. They left the Nexon and moved on working on Project KV. Which is basically the Blue archive but the Swords edition. Even the symbolism, and they have Halo.
Nah Vol 5 is really good and probably has the most intense starting chapter compared to other volumes imo.
No worries senseis, as insakusan has said, BA is a work of several individuals not just him so his departure shouldn't affect its quality too much
I think now that I know that each Volume has a different main writer, it makes it easier to differentiate the expectations I should have for those specific Volumes. Same with if there were any misunderstandings or miscommunication between the dev team and the writing team (such was the case with Volume 2 Chapter 1 from my understanding of what people have told me)! So I'm looking forward to the rest of the Volumes in the future!
Oh boy~
There is a reason why we still say PEAK ARCHIVE.
A small question, why you're not using energy? Like you can just use sweep option and get useful materials from levels that you already finished, and also get exp
I do.... It's just I get too much energy. hahaha
Oh boy 3 hours.
Hehe the best 3 hours~
Mika is in serious need of therapy.
100% agreed on that! I don't think they have therapists in Kivotos though, right?
Personally I think people use "They're just kids" excuse miss the main theme of this game story, which is responsibility. Sensei as an adult took their responsibility and helped the students what they can't do alone, but the students also have to learn how to take responsibility for their own actions and be better too, which many did in the story. So being immature is not a good excuse for wrong doing.
You make a great point about the main theme being responsibility! Took the words out of my brain and said it a lot better than what I said! haha
This chapter is peak
IT IS PEAK FOR SURE!
I think they kind of dropped the ball with Makoto. She legit tried to kill absolutely everybody and never went through any kind of Arc to redeem or even endear her to the audience. Then they just introduce her as silly, fun, evil character.
In defence of john nexon we still not yet have Gehenna focused story to see complete development of her character.
Now that you mention it, I agree with you about Makoto. It bothered me too that she didn't get any heavy consequences for her actions -- or at the very least, it wasn't very emphasized. I mean it makes sense since this is a Trinity focused story, but I would love to see a Gehenna focused story that really develops her as a character in the future.
❤❤❤
Enjoy watching!
Hifumi, my light ❤❤
She is OUR forever light! Gosh, she's definitely one of my favorites~
😯😨😢
Hope you enjoy watching it~
Haha I agree with you on the matter of kids maturity and that a kid should never be excused of the things they do, they should be critiziced and even amonested of the bad they do or can do, some kids are more intelligent or mature than some aduts can be, some have a good understanding about the world around them and some even can use being a kid in their favor to cause some really bad things, the kids should be guided and showed the way, if not it can end like the tale of the kid that stole a sissors
For sure! It's why characters from all ages can be very interesting (or very boring, depending on how the writer creates the story). And thankfully, for Blue Archive, it's the former, not the latter. haha
