The original Avengers is one of the most comic booky comic book movies ever made. The whole thing is very camp. But you can tell it KNOWS it’s camp, but never seems ashamed of it. It’s not trying very hard to be serious, but it’s not meant as a parody either. It’s just a cheesy movie that proudly embraces its comic book goofiness without a hint of irony. It just is what it is.
Man, I wish I could go back to that summer. The world seemed so hopeful....
