Basicamente toda vez que ele fala "minha mãe" no original ele ta falando em portugues misturado com ingles. Então se ele diz "Minha mãe me disse que..." no original ele diz "Minha mãe told me that..."
E na hora que ele volta a vida ele diz "To nem ai. Cara, eu to ferrado. Esse lugar é muito perigoso. Vo vazar daqui." ele fala isso em portugues no original, ai a Jubileu diz que nao entende portugues com raiva justificada.
It's actually more like: "I don't care, I'm f'ing screwed, I'm bouncin!". It's a bit more crass than that. "Po" is short for "porra", which is something you don't say near family or anyone... it means... male ejaculate lol... And "ferrado" is screwed but not a family friendly screwed, almost liked "I'm f'cked".

same, i had been a fan of the comic for a year or 2 before this storyline and was the first real "adult" themed storyline my 14 year old ass had ever really grasped, up until then it was the fights and artwork...i have ZERO doubt they even touch the level the story had , but i am so here for it and have recently reread it when i saw the titles for te episodes..

It really was heartwarming to see Jubilee shine in this episode and showcase her powers as well given how she was shelved and wasn't given the recognition she deserved in the X-men movies

They did her good on this one. So when she was fighting magneto I realized even with his shield he still needed to block with metal. Any reason for this? Is it now that his shields can’t block anything that’s not electromagnetic?
I was extremely happy, Jubilee is one of my favorite X-Men of all time(I'm seriously not kidding), and for her to finally get love was spectacular to me.
@@Lj-md9ngnah i think it was probably just different and simplified his powers for the video game since in the inferno episode magneto was blocking stuff with his shields
I have a new found respect for Jubilee and her powers after this episode. And I love the references to the snes/genesis X-men game, pixel graphics and all.
It's funny because sega genesis and super nintendo had different x-men games which were never ported to each other's systems. But I think the main inspirations of this episode were the Arcade game and the Super Nintendo game, while also being played on a Genesis looking console named like a nintendo.

The cover on the game looks exactly like the cover on the Genesis version, and it had the infamous Mojo level where you had to reset your console in order to finish it. That was always where I gave up as a kid because it was too meta for me to figure out.
Inner child is having so much fun with this show/I love being 40 and excited for a weekly X-Men cartoon again 😅

Mojo was always one of my favourite villains in the original show and I love seeing him return in his grotesque glory. He's a character who's aged phenomenally well in our current pop culture climate. A remarkably fitting villain who personifies everything wrong with the entertainment industry. He's essentially Marvel's Harvey Weinstein and an intergalactic executive producer pumping out content. I initially thought he was going to be the main villain for Deadpool 3, but it seems that Cassandra Nova will be the villain for that movie
@Jasper-dw5qb She's basically Professor X's evil twin sister. Charles even as a baby in the womb of his mother tried to kill Cassandra while she was also a baby in their mother's womb and both had a pyschodelic battle. She's perhaps one of the most evil and despicable X-Men villains and I believe this is the first time the character has ever been adapted in media outside of the Grant Morrison X-Men comics

The problem isn't loving herself beyond her powers intrinsically connected to the Earth like a parent or a child... Having that forcibly ripped away from her is traumatic for her. It's not just that she's missing special ability...
So is Mojo’s line of “Dazzler had a gig, don’t ask.” Referring to her being in Deadpool & Wolverine?
Unclear. the best we can say is maybe yes, maybe no. It could be a sneaky reference to Deadpool 3 or it could just be a funny "Dazzler would rather be doing anything else than hang out with Mojo and wants to focus on her music" sort of thing that doesn't mean anything. Dazzler did show up in X-Men: the Animated Series (the show that X-Men '97 is a continuation of) long before the X-Men movies even started to be a thing.
I believe it was a reference to Jubilee’s appearance in the X-Men arcade game by Konami, in which she was one 6 playable characters. The game came out in ‘92, incidentally. Colossus’s roar when he did his Super sticks in my memory, lol

Feels good to get an episode with Jubilee as the focus and showing she’s not just the one that gets captured.
This was another great episode! I loved seeing the beginning of the "LifeDeath" story for Strom, and I can't wait for part 2 of this mini-arc! I can already tell this emotional character exploration of Storm is going to be one of my favorite mini arcs in the entire X-Men animated series franchise by the time part 2 completes the story. The "Motendo" stuff was also super fun and creative! Revisiting some of the greatest highlights from this iteration of the X-Men in 16-Bit from like an old X-Men arcade game spotlighting their greatest moments was super cool and fun! I also loved having a Jubilee episode because she's one of my personal favorite members of the X-Men! Having it be her birthday was also a really nice way to explore how far she's come since episode 1 of the original series! I'm also really starting to warm up to Roberto. It's been nice to see the world of the X-Men through his eyes as a newcomer to this family. 👀🎆 Overall, X-Men 97 continues to be my favorite thing Marvel has made on Disney Plus! 9/10 episode this week! 🙌🏽🌟✨️

The design of older Jubilee, complete with spiky helmet, was taken from a story in the Wolverine solo series, The Crunch Cunundrum.
In that story Mojo also has an older Jubilee working for him, though she has a lot less freedom in that story, and it's a lot more trippy, no video game stuff, instead going to the end of time to try to save the universe, by allowing it to end.
I liked the original story, but I enjoyed this too!
That whole Larry Hama run doesn’t get enough respect. Albert and Elsie Dee are still some of my favorites.

@@whitediggity Totally agree! The fact that one of the young girls Logan's looked out for is actually a genius robot built to destroy him, who's partnered up with a robot duplicate of Wolverine sounds so crazy, yet is so fun to read! I always enjoy seeing them pop up!

This episode had SO MANY fantastic easter eggs and references for us older folks. I was basically doing the Leo DiCaprio meme the entire time.
Gil Birmingham and Alison-Sealy Smith have incredible chemistry in this epsiode. Even though he didnt voice him in the original series he felt as he he voiced him in the 90s series. Also Alison-Sealy Smith pulls off dual performance in Storm and her darker self. Also the mention of the scientist in Scotland could that be Moira Mctaggart as her arc with her son Kevin aka Proteus and what she was going through because of her son not being accepted by his dad...I feel she is going to return as well.
This episode was so cool! Storm and Forge are good in this episode! 👍

Another banger of an episode. Never played the x-men games and I thought that was extremely creative. An astounding visual experience that i loved every minute of it.
Storm and Forge. I can feel the damn chemistry through the screen. I didn't mind the complete switch from action to drama. This is even better on a rewatch😊

LifeDeath was basically a secondary episode. It's similar to back-up stories in some comics which feature characters and events that aren't currently part of the main plot.
I felt it worked pretty well, especially as there were some conectiobs. Revisiting Genosha as it once was and the revelation that slave collars were based on Forge's work. Mojo and the Adversary both being powerful entities that manipulate others to feed themselves.

I love the back and forth in the Facebook and Instagram comments on X-Men 97 posts, that guys didnt wear crop tops in the 90's. I still remember atheletes wearing them in the mid 90's(especially college football players) They were doing it with their practice jerseys and team shirts.

The connection between the episodes is that both villains feed off of emotions. Mojo feeds from attention. The Adversary feeds from misery.
Yes but the other connections is about growing up! Jub turns 18 and she wants to play video games and Storm ⛈️ is A Goddess and can’t see she can evolve to a level above her mutation and be a God! Mutate, evolve, and growth!
Truth be told I never was an X-men dude in the 90s ( I grew up on Godzilla, HULK, Iron Man, Power Rangers). I didn't get a proper intro to mutants till the animated series and the fox movies. But now with content like 97 and the stuff Rob Jefferson puts on Comics Explained I'm slowly becoming hooked on the X-men and looking forward to learning more.

There actually is. It was the coolest arcade game back in the day (better than tmnt and the simpsons. And, yes, there was a simpsons beat'em up game), with two side by side screens and 6 players could play simultaneously.

Yep... Magneto's got her locked in right now.
Another spectacular episode with more character drive storyline. Great callbacks to The Dark Phoenix saga with The Hellifire Club with Emma Frost conitnuing with the new animation but continuing the original stories. Also love the Bruce Lee and Sister Sister silhouettes in Jubilee's room. I think Jubilee's arc is so nicely balance with the child like innocence and showing maturity. The whole 16 bit with her and Sunspot being transported to thr game world and hearing all classic sound effects is perfection.
Then with Storms storyline seeing her at her lowest point and Forge revealing the truth and his feelings for Storm again makes her arc compelling. I had the whole X-Men TAS game for Sega Genesis and played it obsessively in the 90s.
Storm is my love and my favorite female character.⚡❤ And I really like that they continue with the classic comic book stories. And in this mini arc of redemption and his search to return. It gives me so much hope that they give more relevance to their very good stories.👏

My guy cannot catch a break lol. First, Shi’ar/Spiral. Then, Longshot/Shatterstar.
I think they should have swapped the order. I think it plays better with a sombre first half and an action packed 2nd half.
The show's been great so far, though I hope we get more focus on Gambit and Wolverine. My favourite X-Men😉

Im glad it wasnt 1 dedicated episode. I love the ensemble episodes more then the individual character focused ones so I like they kept this short for both Jubilee and Storm.

I loved these episodes. Everytime Mojo would come up in the comics I always loved the refreshing change of art style. And this episode had it. It was always a great break from the drama and lore. He has the best lines. And this did it perfect. Always got me excited for the story to come after as well. Lifedeath 2 could be all of next week.
Jubilee in the comics did become a vampire but her baby son, Shigo, is adopted not actually hers. Jubilee was cured of her vampirism by Quentin Quire using the Phoenix force
I do think there’s a common thread with both parts of the stories. They both deal with life and what’s living and how do you take that next step in life. Now they both tell that story differently. With the Mojo part obviously being more fun while the Storm part being more serious but the message is similar.
The cancellation thing was part of original Mojo that simply aged in an amusing way, not something new.
Seeing Storm crying and vulnerable was pretty amazing to me though, she's always had to be incredibly resilient and not fully feel her feelings because of the imoact on her direct environment. Now she can ride a horse and go wild unlike when she did with Rogue back in season three of the original. I think this is the first time Storm cried on screen outside of The Last Stand.
Alyson is the original Jubilee and stared on “The Big Comfy Couch”.

I wish each episode had a 50-60 minute runtime.
I lived in Brazil for two years and speak Portuguese fluently for what it’s worth ;) actually I was in a program called Spanish immersion where beginning in first grade they not only teach you Spanish, but by third grade everything is taught in Spanish, your teachers only speak Spanish, so English for example is taught by a teacher only speaking spanish and we weren’t allowed to speak English at school basically through 6 grade, then took the highest level college credit like courses 7th through 12th…. All that said, I don’t speak spanish fluently at all and never really did now that I know what it’s like to truly speak a second language fluently in Portuguese

I use to watch the episodes and then watch the reactions with you guys, but I lost my Job and lost my Disney plus subscription. So im relying on you guys to watch "most" of each episode until I can afford to pay for the subscription again.

I really wish they had just extended both segments into their own episodes, even if they ended up on the shorter side, because both ended up rushed in the end.

Storm and Forge, i sat watching it thinking, "something is going to go horribly wrong isn't it?" aaaand voila! gosh i love this show!
I am excited to continue being shocked by each episode that each and every one becomes my favorites!!! Literal. 🔥❤ But I liked that the episode continued to give the classic touch of the comics. With jubilee. And I would like them to give prominence to a very underrated character, and it shows that they do induce more in the character and their abilities. It becomes iconic. And with Roberto I love their relationship, I didn't expect it. And also start taking everyone as your family. 👍✨🔥🔥
Thinking on it for a bit, I think it may have been intentional that the episode was done this way. the Mojo episode was all about 90's nostalgia and stuff like that, so to play into the nostalgia of the 90's they made the Mojo portion about 20 minutes long, the length of a standard X-Men: the Animated Series episode from back in the day, and then now that episodes for '97 are about 30 minutes long they had an additional 10 minutes to fill, so they essentially gave us a 45ish minute long Lifedeath, and gave us the first 10 or so minutes as a lead-in.
I love all the nostalgia stuff for the Mojo portion of the episode, growing up in the 90's and 2000's (born in '93 for context) this absolutely made me smile, I was excited to see the old school arcade graphics, and it made me happy as a gamer to have recognition of things like boss patterns and extra lives and the chiptune theme song and stuff like that. Coy brought it up a bit in the video, but they absolutely had nostalgia for more than just games in the 90's, they definitely brought in things like Dragon Ball Z too with the Mojo transformation being like Cell or the different Buu forms and the Jubilees forming Destructo Discs and a Spirit Bomb to defeat Mojo. Also, I like that Beast says something to the effect of "the girl deserves some kind of Jubilation" at the beginning of the episode since Jubilee's name is Jubilation Lee.
I also loved the Lifedeath stuff, the difference in tone between the episodes didn't bug me and it was a bit of a good transition from something that is "reliving the glory days" for lack of a better term and all kinds of excitement and insanity to something slower and more calm, gives you a bit of time to come off the high of the first part of the episode, but also sort of works with the nostalgia too in that it shows the range the original series had and this series can have as well, some episodes were more insane and action-packed while other episodes were slower and more introspective, sort of something for everyone if you will. Until I looked at the credits, I wasn't aware that Storm's Voice Actor Alison Sealy-Smith also voiced the owl demon thing, the voice sounded like a different person to me and that was awesome and goes to show how good Voice Actors can be. the Forge and Storm relationship works well, I love what they are doing with the episode, and I'm excited to see the second part to this.
